SCP nr 0000

Object Class: Keter

Please rest assured that this report on SCP 0000 has been thoroughly tested, and has a <0.1% chance of being what could be considered as any significant amount of exposure to SCP 0000, and is considered safe reading, even for personal close to the safe exposure limit.

Special Containment Procedures: Following containment protocol 4-34, have D-class personnel engage SCP 0000 in continuous conversation, confirmed via digital observation, rotating the D-class personnel every three hours. Make sure to have at least 10 people on rotation. Once any D-class personnel has been through three rotations, redeploy them elsewhere, and blacklist them from this operation. If low on personnel, refer to further containment notes. Implement containment protocol 5-3 ASAP.

Description:

SCP 0000 looks like a pale, but otherwise normal, if somewhat attractive caucasian male in his early 20's, but does not appear on any audio or visual recording devices. SCP 0000 is visible through mirrors, and any purely optical means of observing SCP 0000, such as through binoculars, or an array of mirrors, seems to function normally. SCP 0000 will make casual conversation, and seems knowledgable of a wide variety of fields. SCP 0000 seems to stay up to date on matters of news, politics, sciense, sports and other topics, even if given no logical means of aquiring this information. SCP 0000 regularly displays correct information no personel in the visinity had knowledge of at the time, so SCP 0000 gaining the information through mind reading or similar abilites can be seemingly be dismissed. SCP 0000 appears to be capable of comminicating in any known language, including fictional ones.

SCP 0000 appears competely impervious to all damage, and can similiarly not be pushed, lifted or otherwise moved against its will. Attempts to meassure SCP 0000's weight have been fruitless. If SCP 0000 willigny interacts with a device such as an elevator or escalators, they will behave as expected, while if SCP 0000 is unwilling, thee device will not move. Similarly, trap doors, rotten floorboards and similar methods for forcing movement on SCP 0000 have proved innefective. Any mechanism will not function if such fucntion would cause movement in SCP 0000, and materials that should be incapable of supporting SCP 0000's weight, appear to do so anyway.

SCP 0000 does not appear to have any goals, motivations, objectives or aspirations, beyond seeking conversation. SCP 0000 will complain about it's circumstanses, if placed in conditions humans would consider poor, and will ask others to better the situation, but will make no attempts itself to change it's enviroment. For instane, if presented with a foul smelling object, and a disposal bin, SCP 0000will complain about the smell, and ask you to put the offending object into the disposal, but will not do anything about it itself. Datasheet 3.71 indicates that XXXXX where able to make SCP 0000 do a variety of tasks, but we have been unable to replicate this. The aforementioned datasheet suggests SCP 0000 is capable of lifting objects weighing over 1 tonne above its head, but the validity of this data has been brought into question.

SCP 0000 excudes an unnaturally sstrong “Stockholm effect”, and anyone interacting with SCP 0000 over any extended period of time, seems to become affliced. At first, those affected by SCP 0000 begin sharing sentiments such as “You can barely tell it's not human.”. Further exposure quickly makes them progress to statements like “It seems a bit of a shme we have to keep this guy locked up”, followed by statements like “Are you sure we really have to contain this guy? He seems perfectly harmless to me.” and eventually those afflicted start taking action to free SCP 0000 from containment. Even blind, deaf, or otherwise impaired subjects directly exposed to SCP 0000 show these symtoms, and though they seem to develop at a slower rate, the level of contamination is also harder to determine, and for general purposes, standard healthy individuals are recommended.

Subjects exposed to SCP 0000, that have reached the stage of “Are you sure we really have to contain this guy?”, display a notable characteristic, in that they treat all other as true equals, regardless of religion, creed, race or any other factors for discrimination. As can be seen from datasheet 3.47. an infected will treat his only living child and the man who murdered his wife with the same love and care. When the group of afflicted grows in size, this results in an apparent lack of empathy towards the unafflicted, as any afflicted is prioritised over any unafflicted, though at this stage, an afflicted might sacrifice another afflicted to save multiple unafflicted, if such a move is in character for them. Those that progress even further, begin to lose any empathy towards the unafflicted, treating them roughly like animals or lesser beings. The afflicted at this stage, if unable to contribute towards containment breach of SCP 0000, will instead attempt to spread the affliction, primarily through exposing others directly to SCP 0000, but also through spreading information about SCP 0000, mostly preferring direct quotes, with those with poorer memory resorting to paraphrasing. The quotes from SCP 0000 seem to hold no importance in of themselves, but the spread of them has proven to very slowly spread the lower levels of the affliction, there are currently no recorded cases of the latest stage being reached solely through this type of exposure, but some individuals have gone to great lengths to get direct exposure to SCP 0000 to "judge for themselves" whether or not SCP 0000. Beware that Doctor XXXXXXX went to the extreme length of obtaining a second identity, committing murder, with the express purpose of being recruited as D-class personnel, in the hopes of being deployed to SCP 0000. Naturally, the attempt was unsuccessful, but still shows the lengths the afflicted are willing to go to to deepen their own affliction.

Further notes on containment:

Containing SCP 0000 is both simple, and resource consuming. SCP 0000 needs to be observed at all times. If SCP 0000 is left alone, even if in a sealed chamber, SCP 0000 will appear near the closest (see appendix 1.28 for further details) human, typically in a possition a person could concivably have walked to without being observed doing so. SCP 0000 is never observed moving to this position, and is only ever discovered when the observer either moves, removes an object blocking their view of the area, or otherwise causes themsevles to be able to observe the position of SCP 0000. It is currently unknown wether SCP appearing before personel in this manner is a choice SCP 0000 makes, or if it is a result of the manner in which the rooms surrounding SCP 0000's containment cell are layed out. Management has proven unwilling to experiment on this front.

It is surmised that SCP 0000 possess the ability to phase through matter, and possibly the power of flight, but either out of choice, or lack of ability, never displays these powers when observed. This provides the only currently known method of safe containment that does not directly expose personel to SCP 0000.

There are two safe containment methods for SCP 0000, the first is to have at least one person constantly observing SCP 0000. Our first approach was to restrain SCP 0000 and two subjects, such that the two subjects can observe the restraied SCP 0000, then digitally monitoring the two subjects, and applying correctional input if either one of them closes their eyes, or otherwise ceases to observe SCP 0000. However, the continued exposure to SCP 0000 caused the subjects to eventually conspire to free SCP 0000, through such means as closing their eyes at the same time. Common countermeasures work for a time, but after roughly 1 month of continous exposure, the subjects begin trying to take their own lives, as a means of freeing SCP 0000, Attempts to prevent them from doing so never succed for over 7 hours.

The second attempt, and first safe containment method, is to have one and one person engage SCP 0000 in conversation. As SCP 0000 cannot be observed digitally, the conversation can relativly safely be observed. Please note however, that having SCP 0000 's words repeated directly to you, can be seen as a form of exposure to SCP 0000, and through at a greatly reduced pace, subjects doing so will become afflicted. (this indirect exposure effect, Subjects talking with SCP 0000 are to be instructed t not directly repeat after SCP 0000 for this reason. It is strongly adviced that the observer does not share a language with the subject that is conversing with SCP 0000. Extensive testing shows no risk of exposure symtoms under either of these conditions, but applying both safemeasures at once is adviced. Subjects can safely interact with SCP 0000, and even be redeployed afterwards, so long as they are not exposed for more than a total of 12 hours, and in intervals no greater than 4 hoursw with no more than one interval per 24 hours, though it is strongly adviced that no high clearance personel is ever exposed to SCP 0000 for any amount of time. If any personel exposed to SCP 0000 beond the safe limits of 4 hour intervals, or 12 hours total time, they are not to be redeployed under any circumstanses. If need be, or if redeployment is not a consern, intervals can be increased to 10 hours, and total time to 30 hours with 10 hour intervals, or 40 total hours with 4 hour intervals. If either of these limits are exceeded, containment bearch is risked and any personel that are exposed beyond the unsafe limits are to be disposed of ASAP.

The second safe containment method, consists of locking SCP 0000 within some sealed container, andthen observing all sides of said container continuously. So long as the container containing SCP 0000 is at all times observed, SCP 0000 will not leave it, but should the container touch a non-transperant wall, or otherwise cease to be observed from any one angle for any length of time exceeding 1 second, containment is risked. This method is much cheaper, as the observers do not need be replaced, however, due to the fact that containment can only be confrimed by opening the contaier and directly observing SCP 0000, while only a second of containment protocol mismanagment is needed to breach containemnt, it is deemed less secure, despite its effectiveness. Use of a Thaumiel class SCP as observer for this method has yet to be approved, but several SCP should easily solve the issue with keeping all sides of the container observed at all times, and given that no exposure effect is given with this method, should pose little security risk.

Closing notes:

Redeplyed personel show no sideeffects, aside from changing views on topics discussed with SCP 0000. From these changed oppinions, we can deduce some of SCP's aperant views. SCP 0000's views appear to have to main characteristics: they conform to logic and evidence where such applies, and to empaty and equality where logic and evidence does not suffice. One notable viewpoint is SCP 0000s viewpoint on abbortion, or more spesifically, when a transitions from being something that is not a human, to being something that is a human. SCP 0000, in a decidedly non-human way, categorically views any umborn child as not human, and any born child as human, which SCP 0000 states as it's reasoning for advocationg maging abortion legal, with no time limits. When confronted with the paradox between calling a 6 month premature birth huamn, while not calling a 9 month unborn human, SCP 0000 expressed that the only thing sepperating humans from animals, is the way they observe the world, and thus it is only natural to treat those that have yet to do so as animals, which most humans would agree are okay to kill in many surcumstanses, while trating those that have started to do, as humans, which most humans would agree ones shouls not kill in most surcumstanses, and thus, there is no paradox. This might be related to SCP 0000s seeming inability to display its full range of powers while observed by a human. This is however brought into question by SCP 0000's claim that a sufficeintly advanced and scentient machine, would in effect be human.

SCP 0000 was recovered from the XXXX site in XXXXXX two years ago, where Dr XXXXXX XXX had been containing and researching it. At the time of recovery, XXXX was in a full state of chaos, with the lead scientist, Dr XXXXXX XXX, having turned the automated defences on all other personnel. Dr XXXXXX XXX has apprehended while in the process of disposing of all data on SCP 0000, while simultaneously engaging SCP 0000 in conversation. The only research notes recovered, where datasheets 3.33 through 4.16. Thus, the exat origin of SCP 0000 remains unclear, but it appears SCP 0000 was previously classified Euclid.

True nature of SCP 0000. SCP 0000 consists of two parts, SCP 0000-1 and SCP 0000-2.
SCP 0000-1 is a memetic effect, while SCP 0000-2 is a manifestation of said memetic effect, and is only semi-material. At current, only SCP 0000-2 is known, and miss classified. DR XXXXXX XXX was in the process of destroying SCP 0000 in its entirety when SCP 0000-2 was recovered. Had Dr XXXXXX XXX succeeded in destroying all data on SCP 0000, including himself, it is likely SCP 0000-2 would have ceased to exist, or at very least, have been possible to destroy. SCP 0000-1 spreads primarily from contact with SCP 0000-2, and a full affliction with SCP 0000-1 cannot occur without direct contact with SCP 0000-2. SCP 0000-2 is able to draw on all knowledge possessed by everyone afflicted with even the mildest forms of SCP 0000-1, though it appears incapable of using this information for anything besides conversation. SCP 0000-2 is completely invulnerable so long as anyone alive is afflicted with SCP 0000-1. As SCP 0000-1 is at this point effectively uncontained, this poses a major problem.
