Epicene's Drafts

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is allowed free roam of the facility while in a docile state, and is given access to its own research office to aid in attempted research on the effects of other SCPs. If SCP-XXXX shows any shift in behavior, it is to be taken to a containment cell made primarily of tin and a guard with a background of violent tendencies is to be stationed in front to monitor any deterioration in the structure. All staff deemed too “pure” are to be evacuated and the rest are to report any noticeable changes in their own, or their peers behavior. The site will stay in a light quarantine until SCP-XXXX has been evaluated, and a level 5 researcher has given permission to let it out.

In the event that SCP-XXXX breaches containment before given permission, a containment breach is to be announced and MTF Lambda-5 is to be dispatched for re-containment. It is unknown how far SCP-XXXX can detect humans, and testing is deemed too dangerous to find a proper answer.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 2 meter tall, humanoid entity. Large wings protrude from it’s back similar to that of a bat. It’s skin radiates what personnel refer to as “moonlight.” Other than this, it has no unusual appearance. SCP-XXXX dresses in standard research garments with holes cut in the back for its wings. SCP-XXXX has shown no desire to hurt anyone and only wants to “make people happy.” it was classified as safe, until it’s first incident (see Addendum 2) and was promptly reclassified as Keter. An interview was conducted to learn more about said event and avoid a potential XK-class end of the world scenario.

When SCP-XXXX shows signs of unusual behavior, this usually signals a "madness state" in which the entity will fully activate in approximately 1-4 hours, this state lasts roughly a week before SCP-XXXX begins to stabilize. In this state, it scans for brain waves and will seek out creatures that show a high level of compassion or willpower (avoiding a large number of D-class.) Once it finds a victim, it will ensnare them as a large, anomalous sphere forms around them in an appearance similar to the surface of the moon (samples can’t be obtained due to the sphere de-manifesting too quickly, but it is presumed to be made of dust.) After a few moments, the sphere will dissipate and the parts of the victim’s conscious that were originally seen as “pure”, are replaced with homicidal and suicidal tendencies. It has been capable of catching roughly 400 victims in under half an hour, and can disintegrate obstacles that stand in between it and it’s victim. After the approximate time has passed, the entity shows distress at what it’s done but is either unable to reverse the effects, or simply refuses to. Neutralization was considered but abandoned when site researchers agreed on it's potential to aid the foundation, and feared a potential retaliation.

SCP-XXXX has shown an interest in the paranormal and is very cooperative with the foundation in its normal state, even trying to help learn more about other SCPs and find better ways to contain them. (It shows a strange fondness for SCP-106 and SCP-3365, and likes to prioritize study of them.) SCP-XXXX told foundation staff about its properties, including the detection of victim's brain waves, and even tips on how to contain it, though SCP-XXXX had not warned staff about it’s madness state and researchers agreed there was no need to set up any immediate means of containment.

Addendum 1: Recovery log

SCP-XXXX was located in Miami, Florida after a routine investigation of the area. operatives were alerted to the presence of a “demonic god” in the area and soon found the entity in question. It was brought to site-98 and residents who witnessed SCP-XXXX were given class A amnestics. It is currently unknown where SCP-XXXX originates from, but staff who have had casual conversation with it suspect that it might be a high ranking member of an ancient, and advanced alien race. Research is currently underway on if this is true, and where it’s home planet might be located assuming it has one.

Addendum 2: 12/13/2018 Incident

SCP-XXXX was wandering the site as usual when it began to show signs of a mild panic attack. Foundation personnel were warned and sent to investigate. SCP-XXXX was found an hour later on the floor panting heavily. and frantically mouthing a phrase that it later stated to be "she's coming." After approximately 2 and a half hours, SCP-XXXX shot up from the ground and proceeded to stare at foundation staff before rushing at them. A containment breach was announced and the site was immediately evacuated with 57 members of staff, and over 300 D-class missing. MTF was despatched with telekill helmets and found bodies scattering the halls. It is believed half the victims committed suicide while the rest broke into the armory and began to murder each other. Those still alive when MTF arrived seemed to treat it as a game. The majority of bodies were dismembered as the remains were used by the survivors to paint the walls. MTF managed to contain SCP-XXXX with 12 casualties, and after SCP-XXXX was returned to its usual state, the site returned to standard protocol.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Interviewer: Dr. Amber Rose

Foreword: An interview post-incident to learn more of SCP-XXXX’s altered state

Begin Log

Dr. Rose: Hello, are you aware of what we’re here about?

SCP-XXXX: My, uh… my incident?

Dr. Rose: That is correct, can you tell me what exactly happened?

SCP-XXXX: I did what I had to do… I think.

Dr. Rose: Would you mind expl- (Dr. Rose begins showing signs of emotional distress)

SCP-XXXX: Is something wrong?
Dr. Rose: I don’t know, I just feel a little off
SCP-XXXX: Did I do that? I’m so sorry!

(Dr. Rose begins to stabilize)

Dr. Rose: What exactly did you do?

SCP-XXXX: When I feel sad, people around me feel sad

Dr. Rose: And why are you sad? Was it because you hurt people?

(SCP-XXXX nods before pulling into a fetal position in it’s chair)

Dr. Rose: If you didn’t want to hurt people, then why did you?

SCP-XXXX: People didn’t always feel good or bad, and some people still feel that apathy. (it showed reluctance to speak but eased after a moment.) My sister made people kind and happy, but she doesn’t understand. Not EVERYTHING can be perfect or there would be no free will, there would be no ideas or diversity. We NEED things to be different, we NEED chaos, we NEED insanity, but… sometimes I go overboard. I really don’t mean it… please don’t be disappointed! I just want things to be balanced. The only perfection is a perfect balance

Dr. Rose: I’m not disappointed. Some people here might even agree with you on this. Perhaps we can help you work on this and help make things reach that balance you desire.
SCP-XXXX: I’d like that
End Log

Closing Statement: A team has been dispatched to search for the entity SCP-XXXX referred to, hoping that it can potentially reverse any damage and prevent future containment breaches. SCP-XXXX has been appointed an on-site therapist and progression to lower the dangers of another breach is in progress.
