Item #: SCP-4939
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4939 is to be monitored by two Foundation personal disguised as █████████ shopping center maintenance and/or security workers at intervals of five hours each and changing shift just as periodically in order to avoid suspicion of any localized change of the area due to location of SCP-4939 being within an area of moderate population. Any agents stationed in the area must prevent all civilians from crossing into the defined area designated as SCP-4939 while inside any type of motor-vehicle, when needed. The area of 9 feet by 18 feet was painted with evenly spaced parallel diagonal lines using standard outdoor white paint, within the area affected by SCP-4939 in order to prevent anyone temporarily leaving their vehicle in said defined space.
All personal who want to perform test involving SCP-4939 must acquire signed authorization clearance from level 1 or higher from Site-██ and the test must not take place longer than 24 hours as per changes in protocol following Test 4939-B-11.
Description: SCP-4939 appears to be an average parking space of standard length and width and does not display any anomalous characteristics from the surrounding parking lot located in the shopping center of ██████,Texas, until someone parks their vehicle within the space.
The effect of SCP-4939 is not immediately visible to the subject when inside any vehicle placed within the confines of SCP-4939. Any person walking or running through SCP-4939 is not affected at all by it. The visible changes caused by SCP-4939 can take anywhere from 30-seconds to several hours to occur and at most up to 10 hours see Testing Log SCP-4939-B below for more details. SCP-4939 seems to know how long a vehicle will be parked within its defined space and adjusts as needed.
The visual changes observed from within a vehicle parked in SCP-4939 range from minor unnoticeable changes in local landscape to complete radical changes or shift in local environment, for details see below.
Addendum 4939-A: Discovery Log
An online video was posted to ███████ and later removed by the Foundation, followed by standard disinformation procedure to claim video was a hoax. Footage showing dash cam recording in time lapse to quickly show the viewer the anomaly caused by SCP-4939, the local landscape changed as if there was no surrounding buildings at all but the weather and time of day did not change staying consistent with local area, (later observed tests showed near identical visual outcomes). Foundation agents dispatched to the site disguised as maintenance workers to check for and determine exact location of SCP-4939. After its location was found, permission was granted to begin testing on SCP-4939 from local Site-██ Director Dr. Richards.
Addendum 4939-B: Testing Log
Following tests involved subjects leaving the vehicle for an specific amount of time and returning to check dash cam footage and later reviewed by Foundation personal for any further anomalies. Each test took place on different days. Occurring from █/█/20██ to █/██/20██
Test 4939-B-1
Start Time of Test: 8:15 am local time
Subject: Agent █████
Procedure: Vehicle parked for 5 minutes.
Video footage description: Footage showed landscape changes 30 seconds after Foundation Agent █████ left the vehicle. Landscape changes observed was minor resulting in the field directly in front SCP-3705 being converted to dead grass with dried out soil no other changes were observed in footage.
Test 4939-B-2

Subject: D-7342
Procedure: Vehicle parked for 10 minutes.
Video footage description: Footage showed changes in landscape occurring 1 minute after D-Class personal left the vehicle. Landscape changes observed were the area morphed into a desert with dunes forming where buildings were. No further changes occurred.
Test 4939-B-3

Test 4939-B-4
Start Time of Test: 1:38 pm local time
Subject: Agent ██████
Procedure: Vehicle parked for 1 hour.

Test 9439-B-5
Start Time of Time: 4:22 pm local time
Subject: Agent ███
Procedure: Vehicle parked for 3 hours.
Video footage description: Footage showed no environmental changes until 30 minutes after Agent ███ left the vehicle. Landscape shifted into rolling hills of Nardus stricta and sparsely set groups of Helianthus, no buildings or roads present after scenery change. One Laridae seen approximately 5 minutes after change in landscape, flew into and out of camera view for a few seconds. No other animals were seen.
Following these tests, a change to procedure regarding further tests was made to determine if occupants of vehicles parked in SCP-4939 were able to see the changes in local environment as seen by the camera affixed to the front windshield of the vehicle.
Test 4939-B-6
Start Time of Test: 2:28 pm local time
Subject: D-157278
Procedure: Vehicle parked for 5 hours.
Video footage description: Footage shows no change in environment until 50 minutes after vehicle was parked with D-Class sitting inside the vehicle. At the moment of visual change seen on video D-157278 could be heard saying, "Oh [expletive]". Landscape changed to that of an arctic ice sheet similar in visual comparison to Antarctica. D-Class noted they did not feel a difference in temperature relative to the climate and biome they were now viewing. After another hour passes before D-Class exits the vehicle to use a nearby restroom. Arctic landscape remains viewable from the cameras perspective with a few frames of minor static displayed after D-Class left and returned to the vehicle.
D-157278 was reprimanded for leaving the vehicle before asking to during a test and has been moved back to Site-██ until further notice.
D-Class now paired with Agent ████ for the next set of tests and scheduled times for breaks approved beforehand based requested time to be spent in SCP-4939 from site personal at Site-██ of level 1 or higher.
