Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard on-site residence suite occupied by no fewer than four D-Class personnel.
The suite is to include a fortified saferoom taking up no more than 10% of the suite's total area, as well as an independent surveillance system composed of a series of tripod cameras.
Each night, personnel occupying the suite are to report to the saferoom by 9:30 PM, and be sealed within by 9:49 PM. The room is then to be illuminated in it's entirety through the use of the saferoom's supply of lanterns, candles, and flashlights under 100 lumens. Following the anomaly reentering an inactive state, personnel are to inspect the suite as well as the surveillance recordings. Any damages to the suite, nonstandard anomalous behaviors recorded, or items believed to have originated from SCP-XXXX-2 or SCP-XXXX-3, are to be reported to the project lead.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a broken antique grandfather clock containing the body of an adolescent girl.
SCP-XXXX will remain inactive throughout the day, however at 9:49 PM the following anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX will manifest within the nearest occupied household1
| Anomalous Phase | Local Time | Anomalous Effects |
|---|---|---|
| INACTIVE | —— | No Anomalous Effects |
| Initial Phase | 9:49 PM | When the anomaly becomes active, SCP-XXXX will begin functioning as a working clock. Simultaneously, the nearest occupied residence will undergo a total power failure independent of any connected electrical systems. All recorded attempts at restoring power to an affected residence have failed. During this period, all light sources producing more than 100 lumens of light will cease function, and similarly remain inoperative until the anomaly becomes inactive. This effect extends to windows, given that a sufficiently bright source be conveyed into the house through one, and affected windows will appear as opaque regardless of removal of light until the active period is over. |
| Manifestation Phase | 10:00 PM | During this phase, light sources chosen seemingly at random will cease function so that no more than roughly 50% of the residence's total area is illuminated. Instances of SCP XXXX-1 will begin to manifest in these unilluminated areas. Instances will generally be passive, remaining at the edge of sight for subjects in affected residences, and fleeing when light is shone on them. |
| Infestation Phase | 11:00 PM | Light sources will again cease function at random as to limit illumination to now roughly 10% of the residence's total area. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to act hostile to subjects, but will retain light aversion and avoid subjects in illuminated sections. However, subjects in unilluminated areas or whose light source may have ceased function if more than 10% of the residence was illuminated prior to this phase, will be assaulted by the instances. The mortality rate of such assaults is very high, with recovered bodies exhibiting a variety of wounds including lacerations believed to originate from both claws and teeth of varying types, severe bruising caused by bludgeoning, impalement, and [REDACTED]. There are multiple examples however, of individuals who have managed to return to illuminated areas and survived. During this phase, illuminated areas are entirely safe, so long as subjects do not try to shine lights on the instances, as they will attempt to enter the illuminated area and removed the subject from it, however most subjects manage to remain in the illuminated area with minimal injuries. |
| Witching Hour Phase | 12:00 AM | Referred to as the "Witching Hour" by some researchers, this phase sees the manifestation of SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3 from within the anomalous object, opening the front cabinet door to exit. SCP-XXXX-2 will continue to act as would normally be expected of an adolescent girl given non anomalous circumstances, including exploring, playing games such as hide and seek or tag with SCP-XXXX-3, drawing, or playing with toys, some of which are believed to have originated from SCP-XXXX-3. |
| Final Phase | 4:00 AM | Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to demanifest, and SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3 will return to SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-3 will turn the hands on the clockface of SCP-XXXX to read as 9:49, and both will climb within and close the cabinet door behind them, subsequently demanifesting. |
SCP-XXXX-1 is the designation shared by all entities manifested outside of SCP-XXXX during it's active period. These entities vary in shape and proportion, but generally share traits such as uneven gray skin, lack of external features, and aversion to light. These entities will typically remain at the edge of vision, allowing small glimpses by Subjects in affected residences and quickly retreating. Recorded examples of SCP-XXXX-1 include
- A tall humanoid with disproportionately long limbs
- A quadrupedal figure lacking a neck or head
- A humanoid figure lacking a lower body, instead having 8 legs sprouting from the midsection
SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3 are related entities which manifest within SCP-XXXX during active periods. SCP-XXXX-2 is an adolescent girl, displaying signs of advanced decay that the entity is seemingly unaware of, and an aversion to light. SCP-XXXX-3 is a robed figure whose physical characteristics fall in line with instances of SCP-XXXX-1, and lacks an aversion to light. SCP-XXXX-3 follows SCP-XXXX-2 as it explores and plays in affected residences, and protects it from real or perceived threats, including subjects in affected areas which attempt to shine at, or get near SCP-XXXX-2.
