SCP-XXXX in containment

Special Containment Procedures: In its current state SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a padded cell. Due to its uncertain outcome in the event of death, lethal force against SCP-XXXX is forbidden as per the Ethics Committee's decision.

In the event of death, SCP-XXXX is to be handled only before it recovers(approx. 30 minutes). All physical contact with SCP-XXXX in its true form should be avoided. Personnel that comes in contact with SCP-XXXX's true form should follow the instructions described in the Emergency Protocol XXXX form

Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid entity around 1.6m in height with grey-blue skin. It is incapable of speech, as it possesses no mouth. The amount of time it can go without food has yet to be confirmed.

Physical contact with SCP-XXXX causes it to dematerialize and store itself in the host's body. If the host comes into physical contact with a primate organism, the two will merge, occupying the same time-space.
SCP-XXXX and both of its hosts can be suspended in this state indefinitely.

This state can be broken if SCP-XXXX is killed, leading to the instantaneous separation of the hosts. One of the hosts will suffer the consequences of death — the other will emerge in the same state it entered. An alternative method of separation has yet to be found.

The outcome in the event of death is probabilistic in principle and is unaffected by the order the hosts come in contact with SCP-XXXX. The probability that defines which host will be lethally separated from SCP-XXXX is currently estimated to be 50%.

After separation, the host's dead body instead of decomposing will be consumed by SCP-XXXX. This process takes around 30 minutes in which SCP-XXXX is dormant and its anomalous effects are rendered inactive.

EMERGENCY PROTOCOL XXXX1
In the event you came in physical contact with SCP-XXXX, strictly follow the instructions in this document.

  1. DO NOT PANIC.
  2. Avoid physical contact with any primate organisms.
  3. Inform any personnel of the situation.
  4. Proceed to the dedicated cell and contain yourself accordingly.

Discovery: On 18/10/2017, at 01:27, command received a report from field agent Sofia M.

Agent M: Command, this is agent Mallory, do you copy? Over.

Command: We read you M. Over.

Agent M: I think we got a situation here.

Command: What kind of situation?

Agent M: The anomalous one. I came upon a deranged man about 20km outside Ebbing. I almost rode over him. When I confronted him he rumbled about some weird things in Emmerich's mansion. I suspect anomalous activities going on there. Requesting permission to investigate further.

Command: Is this man with you now?

Agent M: Affirmative, he passed out in the backseat.

Command: Keep him in custody, we might have to interrogate him. Permission to investigate further is granted. Head to the mansion and try to confirm any anomalous activity before engaging directly with it.

Agent M: Roger that. Over and out.

On 01:35 Agent Sofia M. reported from the mansion's entrance that she was going in.

On 01:47 Agent Sofia M. made her final report

Agent M: (sigh) Command do you copy?

(static)

Agent M: Command do you copy, damn it?

Command: We're here Mallory, what's the situation there?

Agent M: Fucked up, to say the least. I came upon the anomaly. Shot it twice.

Command: Any casualties?

Agent M: I think I killed the owner of the mansion. I got another suspect in custody. The anomaly is still unidentified, but its properties can merge two people together, occupying the same space, but still functional. We might need an MTF here, and fast.

Command: Roger that. Await further instructions.

(two minutes silence)

Command: Agent Mallory secure the suspects and await backup, an MTF Ypsilon-8 unit will be deployed, ETA 30 minutes. Secure the body of Emerich as well, we'll have to perform an autopsy.

Attempts to contact agent Mallory, after MTF Ypsilon-9 dispatched, have failed.

MTF Ypsilon-9 arrived at the mansion at 02:15. Their operation at the mansion is reported in the Operation Siamese Document.

Operation Siamese

The MTF Ypsilon-9 unit that got dispatched consisted of nine operatives, including unit leader Titan and the two squad leaders Platinum and Gold.

The following is a recording of the unit's leader head-mounted camera.

Titanium: Alright men, we're approaching the drop zone. Check your equipment.

(The mansion is visible 5 km away, a car parked at the alleyway. The helicopter's rhythmic sound of the spinning blades can be heard)

Titanium: Circle around. Let's have a look at the perimeter.

Silver: Picking up heat signatures in the car and on the second floor.

Titanium: Alright, follow Echo-D2 formation. Move out.

(the mansion's west side is visible while Titanium is rappelling down, no light source coming from inside.)

Titanium: Steel secure the vehicle on the front porch, the rest check the perimeter.

(as the camera tilts upwards the chopper is shown to hover above the mansion as Platinum and Iron rappel down on the roof.)

(Titan enters the mansion through the main gate following two operatives.)

Titan: Masks on.

( the camera shakes as Titan passes his masks over it and onto his face, showing the two operatives doing the same)

(Titan hand signals them to move on. The operatives move to the sides of the large area, backs to the wall. )

(each of the operatives give him the all-clear hand sign. Titan goes first and signals for them to move to the second floor.)

(muffled thudding and gargling sounds are heard from the far end of the mansion.)

Titan: Intel, we're picking noises. How's the heat signature?

Intel: According to blueprints, still in the office.

(They proceed to ascend the staircase. As they come to the top, glass can be heard crackling beneath their boots. Among the shards of glass is a gun, standard foundation field agent model. The camera turns up to show a mangled chandelier. As they go down the hallway, the chopper's floodlight comes through the window at the end, momentarily illuminating the tight space. A set of handcuffs sparkles, tied to a pipe opposite the office's door. )

Platinum: We're in position, right above the office's windows. Waiting for your signal.

(Titan signals for them to move down the hallway. The sounds inside the office stop as they approach the door. They get on each side of it and the camera shows an operative taking out a mirror with a handle and holding it under the door's gap. No sign of the anomaly is shown on camera and the operative shakes his head in denial.)

(When the operative puts his ear against the door it kicks back with a loud thud and wimping screams emit from the room. The operative drops back in shock.)

Operative: Fuck!

Titan: Breach now!

(glass is heard shattering inside the room as Platinum and the operative breach through the windows from the roof. The operative regains his balance as Titan takes a step and kicks the door open. The creature leaning against the door, stumbles back and all operatives shoot their tasers upon it. It screamed for 10 seconds before collapsing.)

A thorough investigation of the mansion showed that the basement was used as a prison for individuals and animals. The owner's hard drive was the only thing that was collected as the rest of the notes appeared to be destroyed on purpose.

Besides the man in agent M's vehicle, nobody else was found.

An interview with the suspect was conducted to understand the situation.

Interview with the suspect

Interviewer: Dr. Loyd

Interviewed: Horace

Foreword: After his recovery the man that made contact with agent M. Identified as Horace. Present during the interview was the technician Paul Nimpton, to offer assistance operating the lie detector that was used. After each statement of Horace, an estimate percent of truth is given. The interview was video recorded for further detailed analysis of the suspect's behaviour and body language.

<Begin Log>

[Paul is strapping the final cord on Horace's chest]

Horace: You done doc?

Paul: Yeah, we're almost ready to begin.

Horace: And you say that's to make sure my brain work right?

[Paul nodes and moves to his seat next to Loyd.]

Loyd: Alright, can you state your name?

Horace: Horace Roust. [72%]

[Paul and Loyd exchange a look]

Loyd: Well then, let's start at the beginning. What were you doing before agent M. found you?

Horace: I was walking down a road, towards the town. I was barefoot then, could feel the chill on my feet. At the beginning at least, then they blistered. My head felt really empty for the first time in…years? What year is it? Was the date the woman said true?

Loyd: You'll ask questions later. Give us answers and you might get some. Now, what else do you remember?

Horace: Yeah, was walking when I saw the cart approaching, had lanterns so bright they blinded me, two of them. I lifted my arms and called to stop. Almost run over me. It was metallic, not like any carriage I've seen, but you probably have.

[He leaned forward, eyed Loyd, then Paul. He pushed himself back to the chair]

Horace: Anyway, it stopped right in front of me, and I lied on its front metal side. The lady looking at me from behind the glass looked shocked, guess I have my way around ladies.

[He lifted his eyebrows leaning back. Loyd looked at Paul and let a little sigh.]

Loyd: Please continue sir, what happened with the lady? Did she tell you her name?

Horace: If she did I don't remember it. But I remember telling her about the judge. Isn't that what you really after?

[He lowered his jaw and looked at Loyd, his lips a thin line]

Loyd: We'll get to that. Now, tell us what happened to the woman you met?

Horace: So you don't know where she is. Did she go to the mansion?

Loyd: Didn't you send her there?

Horace: I tried at least, don't know if she actually did. I passed out in the back when I heard her tell you people that the date was October 18, 2017. Is that true? If that's true I've been with him for like…um…128 years!

[Loyd and Paul both look startled.]

Loyd: Calm down now buddy. What are you saying here?

Horace: I am saying, I was in the same body with Fredrich Muel, the first owner of the judge, longer than I haven't. But now I'm free! The judge chose him as the bigger sinner.

Loyd: This judge you talk about, what do you know about it?

Horace: I know Muel dig it up when he opened his great grandfather's grave, but instead of a skeleton he found a creature all curled up. Big eyes, swollen belly but no mouth. He almost shot the damn thing, before it lifted it's arm like pleading for help. He hesitated. He couldn't bring himself to kill it before getting his answers.

Loyd: So you and Muel were pretty close huh? And he told you all of this, why?

Horace: Well he didn't have much of a choice, as I said, we were very close for over a century. But don't think for a minute we wouldn't gouge each others' eyes out. The bastard was full of himself. He'd reach down the open grave to help the poor thing only for it to vanish when he touched it. He then run back to his mansion to tell his sister, but when he touched her they became one. The guard at the gate must have heard the struggle inside cause Muel saw his revolver smoking when he was separated with his sister.

Loyd: You said, you were together with Muel, in that thing right? So it wasn't Muel's first time.

Horace: It wasn't his second either.

Loyd: Was your's the first?

Horace: It was. And even though all of my people are now dead I'm glad they put me in there.

Loyd: You're not making much sense now.

Horace: That's fine, it means at least you understand what I've been saying until now. So let me explain. You see, after Muel and his sister got separated he killed the guard, blamed him for her death. But before he could burry her, her body started to change. It started shrinking and shrinking until the judge's body started to emerge from within. Muel quickly moved her body to the wine cellar before it disappeared completely and locked it 'till he figured what to do with it. Later that night he made two servants go down there.

Loyd: So he used that thing, the "judge", to imprison people. And nobody noticed?

Horace: Well, we didn't have time to notice, that bastard announced it himself few days later. Said we would all be judged by divine power. And at first we thought we did. We would conduct trials with it, put two people who disagreed in it and the one to survive was deemed righteous. That's how O'Railly claimed his land and Manix claimed his wife and Galvin proved he was the most handsome in the neighborhood and Tomston got his…

Loyd: Enough! You started judging people based on a man's word and it didn't occur to you he might be wrong? Because to me it seems like you were killing people and calling it justice because it was convenient.

Paul: Calm down man, we're not here to judge their actions, we got the Ethics Committee for this.

Horace: [to Paul] We had someone to judge our actions too. Until Gustav, bless his soul, came out of it alive and the accused accessor on his wife dead. He kept rumbling how he made a mistake and that the accessor was actually innocent. He kept searching for the real culprit, he was fucking mental man. Everyone tried to convince him that justice had been served but he would hear none of it. He insisted on chasing red herrings 'till he made us all a little paranoid. We thought of exiling him and his family actually but he knew too much to just let him go. Then he accused John Hamilton and John seemed shaken up. We eventually made them go into that thing with the reasoning that since John was innocent he had nothing to fear. John was the one to survive it this time. Rightly so we thought, Gustav was accusing people left and right and got what he deserved. Two days later though, John Hamilton was caught red handed in miss Judith's house when we heard her screams. He confessed to both the assaults. Said he could have gone on as he pleased and that thing we so much worshipped wouldn't bat an eye on him.

Loyd: You disgust me. You're no better than Hamilton, you're murderers.

Horace: And you're what pal? Righteous people doing the world favors? If that's what you think than you're a bigger fool than I was.

Paul: For someone who hates injustice you come of as too judgemental. Both of you! So tell us Horace, what happened then?

Horace: I don't think I'll tell this prick here, he already called me a murderer, I don't want him calling me a gambler as well.

Loyd: Oh for fuck's sake, you used it for gambling you…

Horace: Fuck it I'm outta here, I think I'll enjoy some of the freedom I earned.

Loyd: You sit your ass down! This interrogation is not over yet. You still got some explaining to do.

Horace: So this is an interrogation after all. This proves my point.

Loyd: You turned it into one. Now sit down before you rip the cables and we lose time re-attaching them.

[Horace sits down slowly and with a sudden movement rips the cables off his chest.]

Horace: Wanna know more about that thing? Go in there and shoot it yourself.

Loyd: You bastard!

Paul: Calm down, calm down! Please. Guards!

[Two guards enter the room and carry Dr. Loyd and Horace away.]

Dr. Loyd was refrained from making contact with Horace since the first interview's abrupt ending.

Further interviews with Horace yielded no additional information concerning SCP-XXXX due to him being uncooperative.

Based on the interview, it appears that the separation from SCP-XXXX is not based on the actions the subjects have taken in the past, nor the moral code they follow. It is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX has no authority over the separation itself and thus it's nature is probabilistic.

It is also noted that entangled individuals share the same consciousness and can access each other's memories. This means that in order for body behaviors of these individuals to be responsive, both brains will have to send the same signals to that body part respectively. This brain synchronization is impossible to be acquired if the two individuals have different motives. The brain hyper-activity that occurs to the surviving subject after the separation, gradually subsides over time to normal levels.

These mind highjacks offer so much information that normal interrogations would be rendered useless. Such information though, requires the death of an individual. Since the outcome of the separation is probabilistic many attempts might be required to take place until a Foundation representative survives it.

The individuals used would have to be loyal to the Foundation and trustworthy on the relation of the information they would acquire. Thus, lie detectors would have to be used to ensure the information's authenticity.

SCP-XXXX's current entangled state consists of agent Sofia and an unidentified individual. Because of that the Ethics Committee has prohibited the use of lethal force on it. Thus, current research is limited to observations only.

SCP-XXXX is currently under controlled containment with minimal security. Research's priority is the discovery of an alternative method of separation but it is highly unlikeable to offer any meaningful answers just on observations alone. Tests on SCP-XXXX's using live subjects are necessary if we hope to find a harmless way of separation.

Observation tests were conducted to determine under which probabilistic model SCP-XXXX functions.

If it functions under the chaos theory that means that the separation outcome can effectively be manipulated and is pre-determined. The amount of data that affect the outcome is too high to calculate a meaningful answer. Also, rises the problem of determining which data affect the outcome and which don't.

The other hypothesis is that it behaves on quantum model. It is believed that SCP-XXXX can manipulate matter in the macrocosm the same way it is manipulated on the microcosm. Entangling all atoms of two different bodies into one but keeping their structure otherwise intact, keeping their genetic information stored.

That would explain the complete mind highjack happening momentarily. Under a chaos theory model this highjck would require more time to be complete and the process would happen in random memory bursts.

The quantum theory model currently holds more ground. That means that it is impossible to manipulate or determine the outcome of separation that has a probability of 50%.

The files on the hard drive, that was confiscated during 'Operation Siamese', are all corrupted save for the name files. The following files were the only ones that offered new information.

Quantum mechanics and the macro world.pdf

Non-lethal separation test result.excel

These files were recovered from Dr. Emerich's hard drive. It is apparent that he conducted tests on SCP-XXXX and has yielded results that are of great importance. Unfortunately, Dr. Emerich is deceased and the only other individual believed to have seen, and corrupted, the complete files is entangled with agent Sofia's body.

This information could be recovered from a separation of SCP-XXXX current entangled state.
If this information is as extensive as we believe it to be we will be able to conduct harmless separations and use SCP-XXXX full potential.

In light of this new information, a request for the Ethics Committee to re-evaluate their decision has been made.

Ethics Committee re-evaluation

In light of new information, a new vote was called to action. We call upon the current situation agent Sofia Mallory is in, together with an unidentified individual.

As stated before, SCP-XXXX is effectively contained and poses no threat besides the individuals within it. It is apparent that mental synchronization is possible and we could gain information directly from agent Sofia. This process hasn't improved since the individuals are either not capable of such a connection yet or unwilling to get to such a connection. This means that the unidentified individual is against the Foundation's interests.

Observations showed that agent Sofia is actively trying to impaired the opposing individual. Supposing this is also her will, we let SCP-XXXX unharmed.

Both of these individuals posses the information on Dr. Emerich's hard drive, assuming the unidentified individual had knowledge of them prior to the entanglement. This information would allow for harmless separations from SCP-XXXX and is thus of great importance to the Foundation.

Vote for termination of the current entangled state of SCP-XXXX:

For: 8 | Against: 5

Termination has been scheduled for 25/12/2017
