Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX-J are to be locked inside a standard lead-lined containment unit. They are to be under constant supervision using both CCTV-camera's and laser-based movement detection.
Under no circumstance is SCP-XXXX-J to come in contact with maintenance personnel or any washing machine.
Description: SCP-XXXX-J is classified by Dr. Kous as the phenomenon that takes place when any pair of socks is placed within a washing machine. After a certain amount of time one of the socks will dissapear, leaving subjects to feel bewilderded and frustrated at the event.
If the missing instance of SCP-XXXX-J is not located within a short timespan, subject exposed to SCP-XXXX-J will have to expend financial resources to replace the missing instance or risk having to live with cold extremities.
Test F - 18/8/2007
Subject: 25 year-old male designated as D2069
Procedure: Subject was told to place several pairs of socks belonging to staff members in a washing machine. Following this first step subject was instructed to let the machine go through a short washing cycle. After approximitely 30 minutes the machine stopped, subject was told to retrieve socks from the machine.
Results: Out of 7 pairs of socks, only 5 pairs were able to retrieved in full. D2069 showed little emotional reaction to the event, stating: "This is a common problem, you know. I used to work as a plumber back home so I had to deal with this alot. You guys should check the drainage tubes leading from the machine to the sewage, your socks are probably in there." D2069 was subsequently terminated after the test, due to the irrepairable cognitive damage done to him by exposure to SCP-XXXX-J.
