Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the passive history of the object, SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a keycard locked safe on Site-XX. A Level 3 keycard is required to open it's safe, and SCP-XXXX is not to be used without Level 4 clearance.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Vinyl copy of the band Pink Floyd's 1975 album "Wish you were here", although the vinyl record does not have any grooves for a record player to pick up1. Any working record player can play the album perfectly. SCP-XXXX appears to have an infinite runtime, replaying the songs after it’s typical runtime is over.
SCP-XXXX appears to only affect users who have had known acquaintances die due to substance abuse, mental illnesses, and/or clinical depression2.
When a user places SCP-XXXX onto a record player, the user has shown to calm and react less to outside stimuli. These anomalous properties show until the fourth track "Wish you were here" (SCP-XXXX-1) plays, in which SCP-XXXX-2 will manifest out of view of the user, roughly 4 minutes 9 seconds into SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-2 will take the form of a deceased relative or friend known by the user. SCP-XXXX-2 has never been shown to initiate conversations with the subject, but it will converse if prompted. Usually, interactions between SCP-XXXX-2 and the subject last between 30 seconds to 2 minutes. SCP-XXXX-2 will physically interact with the subject via "hugs". If prompted to speak with the subject, SCP-XXXX-2 will console the subject and tell reassuring dialogues. Such dialogues consist of "it will be okay", "You make me proud"3, "don't worry", and other similar, calming messages.
After the amounted time has passed, SCP-XXXX-2 will calmly ask the subject to close the door and walk away. If the subject does not comply, SCP-XXXX-2 will say goodbye and shut the door for the subject. When the door is shut, SCP-XXXX-2 will immediately demanifest. If the subject tries to replay SCP-XXXX-1 again, SCP-XXXX-2 will not remanifest. There is currently no known way to achieve an SCP-XXXX-2 manifestation twice (2) with the same subject.
When looking into long term effects of exposure to SCP-XXXX-2, users were shown to have much healthier grieving periods than to non-exposed. Users have shown to have greater satisfaction when they shut the door themselves at the end of contact with SCP-XXXX-2 rather than having SCP-XXXX-2 shut it for them. In tests where SCP-XXXX-2 has shut the door, subjects have shown longer periods of grief than subjects who shut it themselves.
