Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 24cm x 5cm x 5cm box consisted of plexiglass material at a minimum of 2.5cm thick and is to be contained in an 8m x 8m x 8m room that has been lined with sound proofing foam. No more than 2 guards with 2nd level clearance are to be stationed outside of SCP-XXXX's containment cell. All experiments attempted with SCP-XXXX must be approved by site personnel with level 3 clearance or higher before testing may begin, all staff involved with SCP-XXXX during experiments must be submitted for psychiatric evaluation after testing.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an 18cm hand carved wooden paint brush with bristles consisting of horse hairs and the initials "V. V. G." etched onto the base of the grip. SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties take effect once a subject comes within 8m of the object regardless of containment and, so far, seems to have no limit on the number of individuals affected by its anomalous properties. While within the 8m range of SCP-XXXX subjects will begin to hear a faint ringing similar to the effects of tinnitus and will gradually increase in volume every hour after initial exposure, in addition subjects will also begin to show increased levels of anxiety or depression. After 4 hours from initial exposure subjects will begin to complain of seeing hallucinations of various patterns and people as well as hearing whispers with these effects increasing along with the volume of the ringing and mental afflictions, after 24 hours subjects will claim to hear nothing but the ringing and will show symptoms of a psychotic break before committing self termination.
Subjects removed from SCP-XXXX's area of effect at any point within the first 4 hours will suffer no lasting mental effects with hearing and mental conditions returning to normal within 1 hour after removal however, subjects who are removed past the 4 hour mark will continue to hallucinate anywhere from 1 hour to 2 days after removal and will develop a minor case of paranoia. Subjects that are removed after the 8 hour mark will continue to hallucinate up to a week after removal and will develop a severe case of paranoia as well as claim to constantly hear the whispering even after the other hallucinations have faded.

Subject: SCP-XXXXProcedure: One D-Class to test the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX
Results: Subject D-143 (Male, 30, Grand Theft Auto, no history of mental illness) was placed in SCP-XXXX's containment cell and almost immediately claimed to hear "an odd ringing", subject was asked to describe the sound they heard and responded with "I'm not too sure Doc, it's almost like that faint ringing you hear on occasion when things get too quiet". Once the 4 hour mark was passed the subject started to show signs of visible irritation along with nervous twitching of limbs, drumming of fingers on the table, and constant eye movement similar to that of increased levels of anxiety. Subject was asked to explain the cause of their distress and they responded with "Don't you hear it Doc? That ringing has gotten louder and I think I'm seeing things", Subject asked to describe what they see with the response of "it's like seeing static but without the static". After 6 hours from initial exposure the subject became unresponsive to further questioning before being removed and submitted for psychiatric evaluation.
Notes: It seems as though our suspicions about SCP-XXXX so far are true, now that we've had a visual test I'd like to see what neurological effects SCP-XXXX has on the mind.
