Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special containment procedure:
SCP-XXX is to be stored in an SCP containment chamber for inanimate objects on containment site 36-b. Access to SCP-XXXX requires level 2 clearance or higher and must be approved by on site management to prevent misuse for personal means.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a single right-hand glove, presumably made from human skin, specifically the skin of an dult human male’s right hand. It displays crude stiches on the right side of the palm reaching up to the base of the pinky finger holding a tear between the palm and back side of the glove together. The spaces where normally the fingernails are located, have also been stitched shut.
It displays thick callus at the fingertips and the palm, as well as the knuckles.
C14 Radiocarbon dating has proven the object to be between 1500 and 3000 years old.
The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX manifest when it is worn by a person (from now on referred to as subject A) who is then touching another human being with a disease or other medical condition (from now on referred to as subject B). Upon touching the bare skin of subject B, the hand of subject A sinks into the body along the length of SCP-XXXX but cannot be pushed further inwards, as soon as there is skin to skin contact between the two subjects.
Subjects wearing the object describe the feeling of entering another person’s body with SCP-XXXX as feeling similar to “kneading warm dough” and “uncannily pleasant”. When moving the object through subject B’s body, creases appear and stay permanently, congruent to where the glove has been within their body. At the area of extraction from subject B’s body, scar tissue immediately forms, while no bleeding is occurring.
During the whole procedure, B subjects display no signs of pain or displeasure, apart from occasionally recoiling when seeing SCP-XXXX enter thier body.
When inserting the instance in a diseased B subject, roughly 10 cm below the sternum, A subjects report feeling a slick, spherical object (from now on referred to SCP-XXXX-01), differing in size, depending on subject B’s medical condition.
Relatively harmless diseases or conditions like the common cold correspond with an SCP-XXXX-01 instance, roughly 1-2cm in diameter, whereas more serious diseases generally correspond with bigger instances of SCP-XXXX-01. Up until this point, the biggest observed instance was “found” within D-Class 46027. The subject entering D-46027 reported feeling a sphere, roughly 15 cm in diameter. D-46027 was previously diagnosed with Stage 4 breast-cancer and Leukemia.
When tasked with extracting one of those spheres, both subjects experience varying degrees of physical resistance from the object, ranging from a mild resistance, measured to be 20 N at Subject A’s wrist, up to 2.4kN in the case of subject D-46027.
Extraction can be aided however, either by a third person pulling subject A’s arm or other physical means. During the case of D-46027, the D-class had to be tied to a concrete pillar while two staff members had to assist subject A in extraction by pulling on subject A’s left arm.
After extraction, the spheres are observed to start vibrating rapidly in the subject’s hand until the subject releases its grip or the SCP-XXXX-01 instance finds an opening between the fingers. When exposing the sphere, it quickly disperses into a fine vapor and completely disappears within 5 – 45 seconds, after which no traces of SCP-XXXX-01 can be found in the surrounding area. Whether by gas chromatography or other conventional means. Before vanishing, the instance is described to be made of “pure light”, measured to range in intensity from 20 W/m² to 3200 W/m², corresponding with the severity of subject B’s condition. In the case of D-46027, the subject extracting SCP-XXXX-01 and the staff members experienced mild sunburn, while D-46027 didn’t show any signs of it, even though the subject’s chest was completely exposed during SCP-XXXX-01 presence.
After extraction, B subjects report feeling exhausted. This can be counteracted by simply resting.
Any attempts at placing the SCP-XXXX-01 instance back into a B subject’s bodie are met with failure, as SCP-XXXX won’t be able to penetrate the skin again, until SCP-XXXX-01 is released and has completely vanished.
When tested for their respective diseases after SCP-XXXX-01 got extracted, all test results from B subjects are negative. The subjects appear to be completely healed, with no signs of relapse, even after 24 months of regular health inspections in 1-week intervals.
Conditions proven to be treatable include, but are not restricted to:
The common Cold
The Flu
Herpes
Hepatitis A, B and C
Various forms of Cancer
█████
HIV
Creutzfeldt-Jakob-Syndrom
Multiple Sklerosis
It is noted that physical Harm, such as the loss of a limb, or mental diseases appear to be non-treatable as no SCP-XXXX-01 instance is found in any part of their body. Diseases caused by other SCP instances appear to be also non-treatable, as derived from cross testing with SCP-████. However, in cases where an infectious disease hindered a subject’s mental capabilities after infection, the effects of the disease can be reverted. Though further testing is required to inquire about SCP-XXXX's full capabilities.
Subjects using SCP-XXXX display a great urge to use the object on sick individuals. This "need to heal the world", as one subject described it, grows with each use of the object, taking on effects similar to those of a substance addiction. After roughly 10-12 uses, subjects display serious symptoms of withdrawal, similar to those from hard drugs, when separated from SCP-XXXX. At this point, subjects become violent and need to be restrained when coming within 25m of SCP-XXXX after separation.
Addendum XXXX-A. Recovery.
SCP-XXXX was recovered at a church in █████ Usbekistan on 16.05.20██, after local news reported severe deformations on a child’s chest and stomach area, following a "miracle healing" of a case of chickenpox. Field agents were sent to investigate. It was found that the parents of the child brought it to the villages pastor, after several previous cases of supposed miracle healing. Upon separating the pastor from the object, he displayed the previously described signs of withdrawal. Within minutes those symptoms became so acute, that the pastor committed suicide by violently slamming his head on the church’s altar while the on-location staff tried to restrain him. Disciplinary action for the foundation members lack competence in restraining a physically unaltered man, apart from the withdrawal symptoms, have been taken. By committing suicide, the pastor became the only known case of death directly linked to SCP-XXXX. Interviews with locals indicate, that the pastor had performed 37 healings of minor and major diseases in the past month. He told locals that he came into possession of the instance after a pilgrim travel to Saint ██████████'s grave in █████.
Addendum XXXX-B. Possible means of healing.
After experiment Nr. ██ with SCP-XXXX on ██.██.20██, including a D-Class subject with Tuberculosis, researcher Dr. █████ was found dead in her office. She was displaying signs of an advanced state of Tuberculosis, similar to those of the D-Class subject, previously involved in the SCP-XXXX experiment. Autopsy showed symptoms in her Lungs, that should have long resulted in death if left untreated. Dr. █████ was Observed to be seemingly healthy in Site 36-b’s cafeteria by other staff members, just hours before the incident. Although the signs of tuberculosis seemed to be the cause of her death, Dr. ███████, who performed the autopsy, found that the cause of death was cardiac infarction. Whether or not this was caused by the shock of suddenly showing symptoms of tuberculosis, or naturally occurring is unclear at this point, although it should be noted, that Dr. █████‘s physical condition would have certainly facilitated a naturally occurring cardiac infarction, since she was known to be a heavy smoker in addition to her medical records showing clear signs of Class 2 obesity. The D-Class involved in the Incident was later found to be completely symptom free.
It is hypothesized, that SCP-XXXX seeks out individuals close to expiring and transfers the disease of the subject currently in contact with it to the other individual. Though such a causal link couldn’t be proven until this point. It is just as likely, that SCP-XXXX transfers the disease to a random, but otherwise healthy individual.
All experiments are to be halted until further notice is given by foundation management.
