SCP-XXXX in use during the annual Foundation Chinese New Year celebration, 2017

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in Storage Site-64 in a large locker. SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are to be kept in a 46x46x61cm box and arranged so that SCP-XXXX-2 is laid underneath SCP-XXXX-1. The tail of SCP-XXXX-1 is to be rolled until it can be stored inside the head, along with the other components of SCP-XXXX-1. The use of SCP-XXXX is only permitted with approval from a doctor or agent of at least a level 3 security clearence level. While in use, SCP-XXXX is not to be used along any additional lion costumes. Gold produced within SCP-XXXX-2 may be used during perfomances.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is the collective designation of the following components:

SCP-XXXX-1 refers to a gold-and-white Northern Chinese Lion Dance costume. It consists of a head and tail with white battery powered florescent lightbulbs installed within the eyes, two sashes, two pairs of pants and two pairs of paws.

SCP-XXXX-2 refers to a pouch, made of sack cloth, that is approximately 10cm in width and 16cm in length. The contents of SCP-XXXX-2 consist of a golden ingot weighing 2kg, and a single golden medallion on which is engraved "My son, the true treasure."

The several anomalous properties do not appear until some or all of the following conditions are met:

  1. SCP-XXXX-1 is donned, and the bulbs within the eyes are switched on
  2. The head operator of SCP-XXXX-1 puts SCP-XXXX-2 around their neck so that the opening of the pouch is parallel with their collarbone.
  3. The medallion is removed from SCP-XXXX-2 and placed within the sash worn by the head operator.
  4. Additional lion costumes are used along side SCP-XXXX in the performance

The following properties manifest when some or all of the aforementioned conditions are met:

  • If conditions 1-3 are met, golden coins of diverse origin will manifest within the pouch by unknown meean. They will manifest at at rate of 1 coin per second. They will only stop manifestation when the medallion is retuned to the pouch, or the weight of the pouch excedes 5kg.1 Upon return of the medallion, the coins will demanifest at a rate of 1 coin every five seconds.
  • If conditions 1-4 OR 1,2 and 4 are met, then upon the commencment of the performance, the LEDs within SCP-XXXX-1 will cease to function within the first minute of the performance, and will not resume function until the performance ends.2 During the performance, there will be several deviations from the planned performance. Operators interrogated after incidents stated that they did not recall the incidents, regardless of how recent incidents occurred. Deviations can range from small actions (such as signaling to the drummer too early), to major acts of violence up to and including attacking and severly injuring other lions. If condition 3 is met during this event, coin production within SCP-XXXX-2 will accelerate pass the weight limit, and the overflow almost always spills out of SCP-XXXX-2. Engravings on the coin change from official engravings to crude characters carved on blank coins. Study of thousands of coins revealed that only three unique messages3 will appear on produced coins.

Discovery:
SCP-XXXX was dicovered on Ferbruary 17, 1950 when a Foundation agent was injured during a lion dance performance in Sacramento, California. Upon prematurely ending the performance the entire group of performers were subdued by response personnel, and SCP-XXXX along with an additional lion was confiscated. The participants and SCP-XXXX were temporally kept at Site 15. The following logs are interviews conducted by Agent Ciriaco. Site Director Efgrafov decided to conduct the investigation to avoid exposing the Foundation's operations in Sacramento.

Interview Log I

Interviewed: Kaili ████

Interviewer: Agent Ciriaco

Foreword: Interview was in regards to the event that took place on February 17 1950.

<Begin Log>

Interviewer:What exactly happened on the seventeenth?

Kaili: I don't know. Philip just attacked Anne, and then I ended the performance. It seems like your friend was caught in the middle. Maybe we shouldn't get into crowds during performances.

Interviewer: Are you sure? Friends don't just attack each other suddenly.
Kaili: Yeah. It's never happened before. This is the first time we've used more than one lion.
Interviewer: Well, if that's all you can tell me, then I guess we're done here.

<End Log>

Closing Statement: Interview concluded that the attack was unatural, leading to deeper investigation.

Interview Log II

Interviewed:Philip ██

Interviewer: Agent Ciriaco

Foreword: Interview was conducted to find the reason interviewee attacked his classmate.

<Begin Log>

Agent Ciriaco: Mr. ██, why did you attack Ms. █████?

Philip: I… I don't remember.

Agent Ciriaco: Why?
Philip: I don't know. I remeber being in the lion right before Kaili started drumming, and then everything else is blank up until I get hit in the head by one of your guys.
Agent Ciriaco: Are you sure?
Philip: Yeah, I really can't remeber anything.
Agent Ciriaco: Alright then, I think we're done here.

<End Log>

Closing Statement: There is a high chance that operators of SCP-XXXX do not voluntarily attack other operators.

Interview III

Interviewed: Grand Master ███

Interviewer: Agent Ciriaco

Foreword: Grand Master ███ was identified by all perticipants in the event as their teacher and the owner of both lion costumes.

<Begin Log>

Interviewer: Mr. ███, several people in our custody have cited you as their teacher and the owner of a certain lion cotume that injured one of our agents.

Master ███: What do you want from me?

Agent Ciriaco: All we want to know is why your students attacked other students?

Master ███: No. Not the student. The lion attacked.
Agent Ciriaco Pardon?
Master ███: You heard me. Philip didn't attack Anne, the lion did.
Agent Ciriaco: Why didn't any students tell me?
Master ███: They don't know anything about it. They just use the costumes. I'll tell you everything if you let my students go. They won't tell anyone anything. You can keep the lion, I want it out of my hands anyways.
Agent Ciriaco: Let me check with my supervisors.

Agent Ciriaco turns to one of the guards and whispers something. He leaves the room and returns after 30 minutes

Agent Ciriaco: Okay, your students will be taken to Sacramento tomorrow morning, and you can go with them if you tell me as much as you can about the lion.

Master ███: I can only assume that her spirit possesses it. I can feel nothing but jealousy when I think about it.
<End Log>

Closing Statement: Master ███ and his students were returned to Sacramento, and were monitored for several months. No abnormal activity was observed, and monitoring ceased.
