Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure locker at Site-19. A length of blackout fabric 2m x 2.5m is to remain draped over the object. The room in which SCP-XXXX is located is to be illuminated by no more than 50 lumens of incandescent light.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 1.5m x 2m Victorian era floor mirror with an uneven and warped surface. An undated inscription on the back reads "From your mother. Maybe this will help you realize how beautiful you really are". The object is presumed to be indestructible though this hypothesis has not been tested. When viewed by any living being, warping effects reminiscent of a fun house mirror are visible in the reflection. These warping effects are then applied to the being(s) viewing the mirror by unknown means. Effects range from very minor (i.e. affected height) to quite pronounced (i.e. misshapen body parts). These effects are random and no two viewings have yielded the exact same results (though some appear similar). Despite this, the surface of the mirror has never been observed to change or warp to match the effects applied. Viewers of the mirror are often unaware that any physical changes have occurred until notified by others or peering in to a functioning mirror. Internal organs and bodily systems are also stretched and warped in relation to external effects. Bodily functions of those affected continue normally despite the fact that some of the effects applied would normally disallow bodily functions to continue.

Recovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered on May █, 19██ in the home of █████ ████████ in █████ WV, USA. The object was brought to the attention of the foundation after reports of a mangled and misshapen body discovered in ████████ county WV. Witnesses to the anomaly have been were administered class-c amnestics and given false memories. The object was found face up in the garage of the subject's home with a large cinder block in the middle of it. The body of █████ was found in the bathroom of his home. The was body disfigured beyond recognition; most likely due to the effects of the mirror. Cause of death was strangulation by hanging. Multiple journal entries pertaining to SCP-XXXX were found in █████'s home. See addendums XXXX-1-5 for more information.

Addendum:
The following journal entries were found in the home of █████ ████████ during object recovery. Clerical errors have been left as to preserve credulity.
