Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 50cm x 50cm x 50cm steel box with 1 meter thick silicone casing surrounding the box in a special containment cell of 15m x 15m x 15m. SCP-XXXX’s special containment box must be kept at the center of the room and a tape line must surround the perimeter threshold for SCP-XXXX’s primary anomalous effect.
Any foundation or D-Class personnel recorded crossing said perimeter outside of experimentation will be charged with summary termination, transfer to another site, or be imprisoned for misconduct or treason; such punishment depends on the circumstance and intent determined by law enforcement personnel.
Any further examination or experimentation of SCP-XXXX must be done with automated machines and drones, and no humans or other humanoid beings are to be in long-term exposure to the region surrounding SCP-XXXX’s cell door. When direct manipulation of SCP-XXXX is vital for further experimentation, foundation personnel must evacuate the surrounding area and may only return when SCP-XXXX is returned and secured in containment.
NOTE: Due to its effects and taxing containment procedures, SCP-XXXX must be kept in an isolated portion of Site-19 away from all other SCP containment zones, staff recreational areas, or vital machinery.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is the mummified corpse of a small dog of indeterminate age at the time of mummification. Carbon dating of SCP-XXXX has revealed that the animal originates from around 7000 BCE. SCP-XXXX is also of indeterminate gender and all internal organs were either removed at the time of mummification or never existed to begin with.
While SCP-XXXX’s physical measurements are most closely linked to the modern day greyhound, DNA testing to determine further identification of the animal has proven unclear, as its genome is dissimilar from other canines or other small mammals.
SCP-XXXX’s primary effect occurs within a large radius around the specimen, but grows weaker over longer distances. Subjects in range of SCP-XXXX’s primary effect suffer from a decrease in cognitive function and suffer drops in emotional maturity and problem solving skills. IQ tests given to D-Class personnel exposed to the immediate vicinity of SCP-XXXX demonstrated a near 100 point difference between scores delivered before exposure.
SCP-XXXX’s secondary effect occurs only when a physical direct line of sight is had with SCP-XXXX. While its primary effect is temporary and determined by distance, SCP-XXXX’s secondary effect never dissipates, even if the affected individual is removed from Site-19 and administered amnestics.
Subjects affected by SCP-XXXX’s secondary effect become giddy and playful, often laughing loudly, doing dances, and expressing desires to play with SCP-XXXX. Subjects will also attempt to hold SCP-XXXX in their laps, stroke it, give it pet names, and kiss it. Such desires overtake survival or other social drives, and affected individuals left unattended will die of dehydration or starvation. Subjects in physical possession of SCP-XXXX will attempt to share it with non-affected individuals.
- See Incident Report I-XXXX-a
NOTE: Individuals who view a photograph or video feed of SCP-XXXX do not suffer adverse effects. SCP-XXXX's secondary effect only occurs when viewing SCP-XXXX with the naked eye.
AUDIO LOG FROM INTERVIEW #XXXX-5:
Excerpt with Subject affected with SCP-XXXX Secondary effect
<Begin Log, Skip 01hr-21min-32s>
Dr. ████: I will ask you again, can you please tell me about your experience with SCP-XXXX?
D-259: (Exaggerated laughter) Dog! Puppy! Little dog! (laughter and screaming continues)
Dr. ████: (To Officer ██) Calm him down again.
(Officer ██ injects D-259 with a syringe of ██████████. D-259 stops laughing and stumbles over.)
Dr. ████: What happened when you looked at SCP-XXXX?
D-259: Her name is Mrs. Creaturdy Deaturdy! She’s so cute and sweet and little! She’s a little cylinder! (D-259 begins chuckling again)
(Dr. ████ sighs loudly.)

TEST T-XXXX-A - 12-██-20██:
Inquiry into the effects SCP-XXXX has on the intellect of those within its vicinity.
SUBJECT:
Eight D-Class personnel selected at random from Site-██. Subjects with pre-existing IQs lower than 80 are dismissed and replaced.
PROCEDURE:
All D-Class personnel are given preliminary tests to determine problem solving and mathematical intelligence. Half the subjects are exposed to SCP-XXXX’s primary effect at maximum efficiency for 10 minutes, and the other act as a control. After exposure, all subjects are given the same test and the results are compared.
RESULT:
Subjects not exposed to SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects showed similar results to their first test. Subject D-999, despite scoring the highest in the first trial, after being exposed to SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects, did not understand the words on the page and couldn’t figure out how to use his pencil. Subject D-071 attempted to draw a dog in the margins of his test. Subjects D-062 and D-987 both attempted to complete their tests, but they ran out of time after the third question stumped them. Subject D-871 guessed at random, finished his test after 3 minutes, and ended up with a higher score than before.
NOTE: D-871's test results have been nullified as an outlier.
ANALYSIS:
Subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX’s primary effect suffer from extreme impairment of problem-solving skills and general comprehension. Intelligence among those affected by SCP-XXXX resembles that of toddlers or newborns.
