Item #: SCP-0
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-0 is to be kept in eight (8) medium-sized filing cabinets in a standard climate controlled Anomalous Objects Containment Room in Site 39. Blue and black versions of SCP-0 should be kept separate from each other. Used copies of SCP-0 should be kept separate as well and all uses should be recorded in the provided log outside of SCP-0’s room. Given its imperfect nature, SCP-0 should not be treated as a reliable information source for other Foundation projects, and should not be utilized for assistance with them.
Description: SCP-0 is the collective designation for 4 reams of high-quality graph paper. Each piece of SCP-0 measures 27.5 x 22.5 cm, but can the style and size of the graphs can vary. Physically, SCP-0 is entirely non-anomylous, and tests on the material makeup of SCP-0 have revealed it to consist only of paper and ink, and the answers to be in graphite. SCP-0 is in no way impervious to damage, and any answers can be erased using a standard rubber eraser allowing the paper to be reused if the initial procedure is repeated. Because of this, there is no concern over running out of SCP-0 and testing can theoretically continue indefinitely.
When any equation, riddle, or other question is written on a piece of SCP-0 and SCP-0 is left unobserved for 30 seconds, it will provide an answer written below the question. These answers are determined to be accurate approximately in 80% of cases. In the cases of questions with multiple answers or with answers that a single page cannot completely display (such as irrational numbers), SCP-0 provides as much of the answers as can fit in the whatever space is not used by the question, and more space can be added by stapling or otherwise connecting additional pieces of SCP-0 to the piece with the question written on it.
SCP-0 was discovered on X/Y/20XY in Seattle, Washington when a student taking the SAT was observed to be moving his papers around excessively and was thusly investigated for cheating. During the investigation, SAT officials discovered that the paper the student was using was anomalous. After this discovery embedded Foundation agents took over the investigation and acquired the sample of SCP-0 that the student had in their possession. Further investigations revealed that the student had acquired the paper from [Redacted], an online store dealing mainly in goods designed to help students cheat on exams. The store was purchased, and the remaining pieces of SCP-0 along with the others items for sale on the store were put into containment, though aside from SCP-0 it was determined that they were non-anomalous. Class-D Amnestics were delivered to the student and SAT officials involved.
For best results, all input should be grammatically or mathematically correct, written as small as possible, and done on an unused piece of SCP-01, as to allow SCP-0 the best possible chance to give a complete answer.
Notable SCP-0 Tests| Researcher | Input | Output | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dr. John | 2 + 2= | 3 | |
| Dr. John | 8x+4=68 | 8x+4=68 | |
| Dr. John | 8x+4=68, x= | 8 | Note that all equations must make it clear what SCP-0 is solving for. It's not a mind reader. |
| Dr. John | What is the capital of Georgia? | Tbilisi, Atlanta | Apparently functions with both word and numerical questions, further testing into acceptable types of input is warranted. |
| Dr. John | What is the creature that walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon and three in the evening? | Dr. John | Not sure if this should be counted as correct or not. Nice to know it has a sense of humor |
| Dr. John | pi= | circumference/diameter, 3.14….. (the rest of the page was filled with the digits of pi, 980 digits) | |
| Dr. John | pi= | circumference/diameter, 3.14….. | Two pages were stapled together, answer covered both pages. Reached approximately 1550 of pi |
