Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 3 x 3 x 3 x 3m cell and covered by a cloth. It is to be kept away from all mirrors within a 30m radius at ALL times.
Description:SCP-XXXX is a 0.6 by 1.5 m mirror dated to the mid-Victorian era. Although at first glance SCP-XXXX is surrounded by a golden leaf design,it's instead made of a previously undiscovered metal.
Indicative of the era of which it was made,SCP-XXXX has a pungent smell which may induce vomiting in subjects who approach it unprepared, it is also to be noted that there is a vaguely copper-like scent coming from it, however it is easily covered up by the other smell.
The mirror possesses a cognitohazardous effect which fills those who come within 5m of it with an overwhelming sense of dread and/or the feeling of being of watched. This feeling can go on anywhere from 10 minutes to 5 hours depending on how long the subject is near or looking at the SCP-XXXX. After looking at SCP-XXXX for 15 seconds subject begin to feel a pain near the zygomaticus major that quickly eases when smiling. Approximately 5 minutes after initial prolonged contact with SCP-XXXX will subjects begin to feel nauseous and will feel further pain on the zygomaticus major along with a strong desire to look back into SCP-XXXX
If successful in reaching SCP-XXXX they will look back into it, from which they will immediately become deceased on the spot from shock, and it is observed that the face muscles of any victim of SCP-XXXX will move into a smile. While reviewing footage of SCP-XXXX during an incident such as the one stated above nothing can be seen on the mirror, not even the reflection of the person standing in front of SCP-XXXX. So far none only one of the tests featuring prolonged contact with SCP-XXXX ended in survival of the subject. It is also to be noted that after the subject became deceased from shock, blood manifests from the corners of SCP-XXXX. The blood manifesting from SCP-XXXX belongs to an as of yet unidentified individual, but has been confirmed to be human.
Addendum 1: Discovery SCP-XXXX was found in ██████, inside an old farmhouse after reports came through that ██ people went missing around the area. Local operatives quickly moved SCP-XXXX to site ██ with █ casualties. It is also noted that once SCP-XXXX was retrieved people in the surrounding area seem to be put in an almost agitated and aggressive state,causing 2 personnel to be attacked during retrieval.
Addendum 2: During a containment breach SCP-XXXX was found cracked inside its containment area. █ hours later the bodies of 3 members of the research staff was found in the bathroom next to a mirror. Further investigation and testing has revealed that once SCP-XXXX is cracked, it repairs itself within ██ hours, however during this time it has the capability to give it's effects to or possibly inhabit another mirror within a 30 meter radius. Containment procedures are being changed accordingly.
