Special Containment Procedures: A 10 kilometre perimeter has been established around remote base XX, which is located directly above SCP-XXXX-1 Entrance and exit from base XX is solely permitted to individuals who have received level 3 or higher clearance. Express permission from individuals with Level 4 or higher clearance and detailed knowledge of SCP-XXXX is required for use of the deep chamber and perform explorations around and into SCP-XXXX-2.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation for two distinct entities, hereafter individually labelled SCP-XXXX-1 and -2.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a circular underground tower located near ████,███. SCP-XXXX-1 is constructed out of black limestone in a Romanesque architectural style, with large floors every ██ metres, connected by descending spiral passageways. The outer perimeter of the floors and passageways are lined with Doric order columns that extend from the floor to the ceiling.

It is currently only possible to enter SCP-XXXX-1 via SCP-XXXX-2, as any other attempts to reach it, such as via digging, results in the area where SCP-XXXX-1 would reside instead having ordinary rock. There is however, no known way to exit SCP-XXXX-1. Any all and all attempts to dig from within SCP-XXXX-1 into the encasing rock beyond the perimeter of tower have all been met with failure.

SCP-XXXX-2 is circular tower located within a highly lucid, anomalous dream that occurs if an individual enters REM sleep while inside or within ██ meters of SCP-XXXX-1. Affected individuals, hereafter referenced as SCP-XXXX-A, are fully aware that they are dreaming, and are able to wholly control their actions. In addition, they are able to stream video and audio information to people outside the dream if they have the means to (such as via a camera or radio). Time passes within the dream at a rate identical to real time, and the dream always remains constant, despite SCP-XXXX-A instances exhibiting a standard sleep cycle. SCP-XXXX-A instances will awaken after █-██ hours, with no recollection of the events that occurred while asleep. Instances can be awoken prematurely via external stimulus, such as events that would ordinarily wake up someone from sleep, but they are unable to do so by themselves.

The dream SCP-XXXX-A instances experience is always the same, unless they are inside SCP-XXXX-1. Instances will find themselves in a grassy field with SCP-XXXX-2 located in the centre, which is identical to SCP-XXXX-1, except that it is constructed out of white marble, and is located above ground.

If an SCP-XXXX-A instance awakens while inside SCP-XXXX-2, their body, and the current clothing/objects they are wearing/holding, will immediately disappear and reappear within SCP-XXXX-1. From this point onwards, SCP-XXXX-A instances will alternate between existing within SCP-XXXX-1 and -2, depending on whether they are currently awake or asleep, with no recollection of what has previously occurred in one while in the other.

Mission Objective: Survey and record the area surrounding SCP-XXXX-2.

Exploration Team: D-X

Additional Information: The following is a transcript of the audio and visual information recorded from D-XXXX during his time inside the anomalous dream surrounding SCP-XXXX-2. D-XXXX is equipped with a head mounted camera and radio to communicate with Base X.

[BEGIN LOG]

The camera and microphone activate, revealing SCP-XXXX-2, surrounded by a lush grassy field. The camera pans as D-X looks up at SCP-XXXX-2. It is impossible to see the top of the tower from this angle.

D-X: Testing, is this thing working?

Base X: We have visual and audio connection. Everything is working as intended.

D-X looks around, getting a general bearing of the area. The grassy field extends to the horizon in all directions.

D-X: Are you sure this is a dream? I feel pretty awake right now. Sure I haven't teleported to another dimension or something?

Base X: Positive, your body is still in the deep chamber. Please continue with your mission. Remember, you are to go nowhere near SCP-XXXX-2.

D-X: I know, I know.

D-X turns and beings walking away from SCP-XXXX-2. Despite travelling for over an hour, the scenery remains the same: grassy field under a cloudless blue sky. SCP-XXXX-2 is still visible in the horizon, now a thin streak in the sky. It is still impossible to see the top.

D-x: Can I take a quick break? It's pretty hot.

Base-X: Negative, we need as much surveyed as possible before you wake up.

D-X travels for another 2 hours. The scenery remains unchanged, barring a few white clouds that now dot the blue sky. SCP-XXXX-2 is still visible.

D-X: I don't suppose you packed me any water. I'm really thirsty, the sunlight is making me sweat like crazy.

Base-X: Negative. However, you are permitted a ten minute break.

D-X: Finally, the sun is really getting to me. The sun….

D-X begins to frantically look around at the sky.

Base-X: D-X, is everything okay?

D-X: There- There's no sun. It's just the sky and clouds.

D-X chuckles nervously

D-X: I guess it really is a dream. I have no idea where the sunlight is coming from.

Base-X: Some discrepancies are expected to occur. Please remain calm and focus on the mission.

D-X spends the remainder of his break looking at the sky. Afterwards, he continues to walk for another hour. The scenery remains mostly unchanged, large cumulus clouds now occupying larger areas of the sky. SCP-XXXX-2 is still visible. D-X suddenly halts

Base-X: Is there an issue?

D-X: Hold on, I can smell something.

D-X sniffs the air again. A gust of wind blows across the field.

D-X: It smells- smells like salt. Like I'm near a beach or something.

Base-X: Understood, please continue on your current path.

D-X walks for 30 minutes, arriving at a steep coastal cliff that stretches from one edge of the horizon to the other. Dark water laps gently against the rocks at the bottom of the cliff. The sky is covered by a blanket of stratus clouds, slightly darkening the surroundings. SCP-XXXX-2 is still visible.

D-X: What do you want me to do now?

Base-X: Please stand by for additional orders.

D-X walks closer to the cliff and sits down, enjoying the steady inland breeze.

Base-X: Thank you for waiting. You are to follow the coast until you naturally wake up in the next 2-3 hours.

D-X: Are you sure? Something feels off.

Base-X: What do you mean?

D-X looks back towards SCP-XXXX-2

D-X: I'm not sure. I've got a bad feeling. I can't really describe it. You sure you can't wake me up early?

Base-X: Negative, but if anything occurs, we will wake you up immediately.

D-X begins following the coast. He continues in silence for the next hour, barring the rhythmic sound of the dark waves crashing on the rocks below and the soft howl of the wind. Grey cumulonimbus clouds dominate the sky. SCP-XXXX-2 is still visible.

D-X: Something's not right. Please wake me up.
Base-X: Negative, please continue for another hour. You should wake up naturally soon.

D-X walks for another 30 minutes before stopping suddenly. The steady roar of wind blotting out the sounds of the turbulent black water smashing into the cliff face below. Dark cumulonimbus clouds completely blot out the sky. D-X's breathing is erratic. SCP-XXXX-2 is no longer visible.

D-X: Please, wake me up. Now!

Base-X: We are prepared to retrieve you. Please continue for as long as you can.

D-X looks around frantically

D-X: No! I'm done! Wake me up now!

A shattering noise rings out from behind D-X, he begins to sprit along the cliff, breathing heavily. A second shatter is heard and D-X increases in pace. D-X misses his footing and sprains his ankle, letting out a loud yelp, and tumbles to the ground. A third shatter is heard , closer and louder then the last two.

Post Exploration Notes: D-X awoke with a sprained ankle and multiple cuts and scratches across his body, but no recollection of events that occurred. He expressed confusion and concern at his injuries, but otherwise exhibited no other behaviour regarding the situation. His equipment was safely recovered and injuries tended too.

It is currently pending as to what action should be taken regarding the events that occurred at the end of D-X's exploration.

Exploration Mission XXXX.2.2

Mission Objective: Follow the coast discovered in Exploration Mission XXXX.1.1 to determine the size and shape of the landmass SCP-XXXX-2 is located on. .

Exploration Team: D-X, D-2, D-3, D-4, D-5, D-6, D-7, D-8

Additional Information: All members of the exploration team are equipped with a head mounted camera and radio, as well as a bag containing a full two litre flask of water and a metal spike. All members are instructed to head in different directions until arriving at the coast, upon which they would plant the supplied spike and head left until they came across another spike. The mission is to end as soon as all members of the party encounter a spike while travelling along the cliff face, or a total of 6 hours passes, whichever occurs first.

D-2: System check. Ready!

D-3 through D-8: Ready!

Base-X: All systems are operational. D-X, please respond.

D-X has failed to activate his gear. Through the other's camera, it is observed that he is standing hunched over, hands clutching the sides of his head.

D-X: No, No! Not here again!

Base-X: D-2, please instruct D-X to calm down and activate his gear.

D-2: D-X, base says to calm down and get your stuff working.

D-X is unresponsive

D-2: Can you hear me? Hey base, I think something is up wi-

D-X suddenly brakes into a sprit towards SCP-XXXX-2. The others try and fail to grab him. D-3 and -6 give chase.

Base-X: No, don't follow him! Return to your posts immediately.

D-3 and -6 stop chasing after D-X and regroup with the others. D-X arrives at the base of SCP-XXXX-2 and enters inside.

Base-X: Continue with the mission as planned. You will all need to cover more ground in the second half due to the absence of D-X.

D-2 through -8 depart in opposite directions away from SCP-XXXX-2. Each travel for over 4 hours, arriving at the coast without incident. They all arrive at their respective edges within 30 minutes of D-6, who was the first to reach the coast. All members plant their metal spike and follow the cliff face to their left. They continue along the edge until the total 6 hours passes, after which, they are awoken.

Post Exploration Notes: The following is a transcript of the audio and visual information recorded during the mission. D-2 through D-8 are awoken with incident. However, D-X, and all equipment he was wearing, immediately disappeared upon being awoken with the rest. Through analysing the recorded video footage, it appears the landmass SCP-XXXX-2 is located on is a uniform grassy plain that end abruptly at a rocky, coastal cliff. Due to the fact that all members of the party were unable to locate the planted spike, the length of the coast is currently unknown. It is believed that the landmass is an island.

Exploration Mission XXXX.2.2.X-1

Mission Objective: Explore the interior of SCP-XXXX-1

Exploration Team: D-X

Additional Information: The following is a transcript of the audio and visual information recorded shortly after D-X awoke within SCP-XXXX-1, with all equipment and clothing he was wearing for the previous mission mostly intact. The only notable difference being the supplied flask of water was half empty.

[Begin Log]

8 minutes after Exploration Team XXXX.2.2 was awoken, D-x's microphone and camera activated, revealing he was located within a large circular room made out of polished black limestone. The interior of which was sufficiently lit, despite the lack of a visible light source.

D-X: Hello? Does this thing work?

Base-X: We have contact with you. Can you hear us?

D-X lets out a sigh of relief

D-X: Yes, I can hear you just fine. Where am I? Is this still a dream?

Base-X: You are currently awake, and inside SCP-XXXX-1. You entered SCP-XXXX-2 despite express orders not to do so beforehand. We are unable to retrieve you from your current location.

Multiple minutes of silence from D-X

Base-X: Are you there?

D-X: Ye-, Yeah I'm here. Is there anything I can do?

Base-X: There should be a descending ramp in the floor. Please follow it.

//D-X locates the descending passageway and proceeds to walk down it. The exterior wall is lined with columns, beyond which is an unknown dark grey rock. The interior wall is made of polished black limestone. Similar to the room before, the corridor is illuminated despite lacking a source for it.
