SCP-XXXX, when discovered at warehouse. 2 other instances were discovered.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained within a secure storage locker at Site-19, and any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 should be removed when found, and moved to a separate locker nearby, with other instances. No locker should contain more than 100 instances of SCP-XXXX-1, as to prevent unnecessary instances being created due to anomalous movement of SCP-XXXX, and any counterparts. (See Addendum 4) SCP-XXXX is currently secured inside a 0.1m x 0.1m x 0.1m block of clear acrylic, to prevent the cognitohazardous effects of SCP-XXXX's movement; the cube is inside of a secure storage locker at Site-19. Any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 should be contained within 0.06m x 0.06m x 0.06m block of clear acrylic, and stacked inside a secure storage locker with other instances.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a miniature orange pool ball, of the number 13; it is roughly 3/4" in diameter, and is comprised of standard materials of a pool ball. When SCP-XXXX sustains any substantial separation of its mass (chipping, cracking, or splitting into multiple pieces), each individual piece of SCP-XXXX will fully regenerate into a new pool ball (new instances now referred to as SCP-XXXX-1). Each new instance created has been observed to have a number valued one higher than the previous, but identical color. The time taken for each new instance to be reformed depends on the amount of mass that new instances begin forming from, and has been observed to fully reform from a mass of only ████, and took ██ days. this property has resulted in numerous duplications of SCP-XXXX. There is currently 219 instances of SCP-XXXX-1 (labelled SCP-XXXX-1-14 through SCP-XXXX-1-232) in containment at Site-19, stored in 7 secure storage lockers at Site-19. No more are intended to be created at the current time, as sufficient testing has taken place.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in an abandoned storage warehouse, owned by ███████ ███, in █████████, China before it was brought to the Foundation alongside 2 other instances (SCP-XXXX-1-14 and SCP-XXXX-1-15. As the numerical value on SCP-XXXX is 13, a minimum of 12 instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are believed to be in existence outside of SCP's containment, and are to be seized and secured by the Foundation upon discovery.
SCP-XXXX and all counterparts has been observed to move upon its own accord when on a flat surface, despite the composition containing no mechanical/moving parts, or any evidence of possible magnetic interference possible. Currently, it is only capable of moving at a rate of ███████, and can easily be halted, providing little resistance. The speed of SCP-XXXX's anomalous movement is observed to exponentially increase over a long period of time, approximately an acceleration rate of ██████ . The path of SCP-XXXX's movement appears to be entirely random, although due to the extremely low speed of SCP-XXXX's movement, it is not clear whether it is following a path, or able to move on its own accord. It is not yet apparent if SCP-XXXX is sentient. (See Addendum 1)
Addendum 1: Testing of SCP-XXXX-1-14
SCP-XXXX-1-14 (and all other instances)'s path of movement has now been discovered to spell out the phrase "EAT ME" repeatedly. It has taken █ years and █ months for SCP-XXXX-1-14 to be able to write this message within the time span of 2 hours. Researchers assigned to SCP-XXXX-1-14 have questioned the composition of SCP-XXXX-1-14, and if consumption is possible. Further testing will be completed.
Addendum 2: Testing of SCP-XXXX-1-22
The composition of SCP-XXXX-1-22 (and all other instances) has now been analysed to be 100% phenolic resin, the regular material used to make pool balls. Although this has been confirmed, almost all researchers that have observed SCP-XXXX-1-22 still question if it is edible, and Dr. G██████ was found to attempt to consume SCP-XXXX-1-22, before stopped by ███ █████, who returned SCP-XXXX-1-22 to its storage location.
Addendum 3: Incident SCP-XXXX-1-22-A
Approximately 4 hours after Testing of SCP-XXXX-1-22 was conducted, Dr. G██████ was found dead outside of the storage locker containing SCP-XXXX-1-14 to SCP-XXXX-1-63. SCP-XXXX-1-22 was found inside Dr. G██████'s stomach, alongside 59 other instances of SCP-XXXX-1, found in the stomach, lungs, intestines and throat, although no further instances were missing from the storage locker. More instances are believed to have been created once SCP-XXXX-1-22 entered Dr. G██████'s stomach due to dissolving of SCP-XXXX-1-22, creating many tiny pieces, which then spread into the lungs and throat, resulting in death via asphyxiation. Possible Cognitohazardous effects are being considered, due to the out-of-the-ordinary actions of Dr. G██████.
Addendum 4: Testing of possible Cognitohazard
Further analysis has concluded that any and all instances of SCP-XXXX pose a cognitohazard. Any subject that witnesses SCP-XXXX 'writing' out its message at least once will begin to question the possible consumption of said instance, and if up to 5 times, the subject will begin to attempt to consume SCP-XXXX, and will do so if not stopped by another. After more than 10 times, and the subject will desparately try to consume SCP-XXXX, ignoring others around him/her, and will resist restraints. Consumption of any instance of SCP-XXXX will result in rapid duplication inside the stomach, and eventual death. Containment procedures have since been revised to ensure proper containment, and the safety of those at the SCP Foundation.
