Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: One colony of SCP-XXXX are to be contained in a standard foundation insect containment unit and provided with a beehive and flowers of various species. No animals of any kind are to enter the insect containment unit except for personnel wearing beekeeper's suits. If any animals become an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, they are to be securely restrained before termination and removal of the stinger. If restraining is not possible, SCP-XXXX-1 should be injured as much as possible before termination. Any other discovered SCP-XXXX hives are to be destroyed immediately.
Description: SCP-XXXX are a species of bee that are identical to Apis mellifera (western honeybee) except for their anomalous effects. When an animal is stung by an instance of SCP-XXXX, (designated as SCP-XXXX-1) the stinger will sink into the skin of SCP-XXXX-1. The stinger will then become impossible to locate. Over the next 8 hours, SCP-XXXX-1 will experience the following symptoms.
0-2 hours: Occasional twitching in eyelids and fingertips.
2-4 hours: Occasional spasms in facial muscles, slight increase in muscular strength.
4-6 hours: Occasional spasms in larger muscles, moderate increase in muscular strength. Due to increased strength, fractured smaller bones may occur. Death may occur due to suffocation from punctured lungs due to broken ribs or a broken neck.
6-8 hours: Constant spasms of all muscles, major increase in muscular strength. Due to increased strength, compound fractures are common. Death will occur due to suffocation from diaphragm failure, fibrillation or blood loss.
Once SCP-XXXX-1 is deceased, the stinger will re-emerge from SCP-XXXX-1's neck and subject will begin to perform activities beneficial to the hive such as defending the hive, bringing animal carcasses to the hive and constructing the hive1. Activity will cease when rigor mortis sets in or the stinger is removed. Heavily damaged or small instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will move towards the hive and cease all activity once within 50 metres of the hive. When instances of SCP-XXXX-1 cease activity, other nearby instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will carry them to the hive.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are controlled by the queen, (referred to as SCP-XXXX-2) of the SCP-XXXX hive by sending radio waves between SCP-XXXX-2 and the stinger on SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 show low intelligence and bad coordination. For example, many bipedal animals will struggle to walk and will instead drag themselves along the floor and animals normally capable of flight have not been observed to fly. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are still dangerous due to their increased strength. Removal of stingers is difficult, because of the increased strength of SCP-XXXX-1.
Note from Dr Stone: Don't shoot instances of SCP-XXXX-1 right after they get stung! Last week some idiot shot a human instance of SCP-XXXX-1 right after he was stung and he basically turned into a rampaging zombie hulk. It took us 2 hours to remove the stinger after he destroyed half the facility, causing multiple containment breaches, killing 4 staff and sending 17 more to hospital. The next person who shoots one immediately will face disciplinary action.
