Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5067 is located in multiple containment sites around the globe. In order to handle SCP-5067, the user must have a vast knowledge of physics, the cause and effect of explosive energy, as well as how that energy may be contained, and reused.
SCP-5067 requires multiple variables to be properly contained and used. SCP-5067 must be placed within a Tesla energy conductor with 200cm tall lightning rods made from titanium steel in the four corners of the containment room to produce a constant stream of energy. As for the containment room, the walls must be lined with a non-conductive material, such as rubber or wood, and must be at least 50cm thick on all sides.
Faculty entering containment room of SCP-5067 must be wearing rubber soled shoes and non-conductive gloves and clothes that the site supervisors have approved ahead of time. Anyone entering the containment unit of SCP-5067 must also wear military grade sun visors at all time. Anyone entering the facility must not look at SCP-5067 for more than 15 seconds at a time, due to the vast radiating light. Additionally, faculty entering or exiting site must be void on any surface moisture on their skin to prevent arcs of electricity from damaging on site property or other employees. Drying stations have been placed throughout the sites containing SCP-5067, and staff of said containment sites are encouraged to dry their skin regularly.
Description: SCP-5067 is an anomalous energy caused by an explosion that has ≥6,000,000,000 joules of energy1. SCP-5067 is most comparable to that of a lightning bolt, but many of the personnel that have handled SCP-5067 have compared it to the pith of an orange, as it has the same color and shape.
SCP-5067 was first discovered after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 7, 1945, when pilot CDT. James ██████ of the United States Air Force noticed the anomaly which appeared in the mushroom cloud of the explosion caused by the nuclear bomb (See Addendum AFC-1.1). The current location and status of James ██████ is unknown.
Since the events on August 7, 1945, there have been 11 recorded natural cases of SCP-5067, as well as 532 recorded man-made causes over the course of 75 years; ███ of which the foundation have caused as an attempt to capture the anomaly to harness its power. SCP-5067 has helped the foundation in fueling the massive energy demand of many of the containment facilities. The most noticeable of these facilities is the containment facility of SCP-96, who is required to be incarcerated within a 5m x 5m x 5m airtight cell. To ensure the safety of the workers at said facility, SCP-5067's endless supply of energy is being used to power the security systems, the military grade pressure sensors attached to the cell of SCP-96, and the airlock system, which requires a constant ~4,000,000 joules of energy to remain at full power.
The power of SCP-5067 has been attempted to be captured in multiple ways, the first of which was attempted on 10/19/1989 in Vandellòs, Spain when scientists purchased faulty energy conductor units from the French Government to try to harness SCP-5067. This in turn, overloaded the conductor units, causing a core meltdown within the power plant, which produced a catastrophic fire within the plant, killing ███ and injuring ███. The plant has been since abandoned, and new safety protocols had been put in place to prevent further catastrophe when handling SCP-5067.2
Currently, the most consistent method of capturing the energy of SCP-5067 is by using a laser-induced plasma channel. The method was discovered in the ██████ test lab on ██/██/2001 by Dr. ████ █████ when testing the effects of large scale explosions on modern day skyscrapers. Dr. ████ █████ was using the plasma channels to attempt to capture the energy of the explosion itself, but instead coincidentally captured SCP-5067. He has been put on record, saying, "In a fraction of time before the explosion even occurred, energy had already filled the plasma channel to the brim! We had somehow captured an endless supply of energy!". Dr. ████ █████ has since been hired by the foundation to continue his research on SCP-5067, to further apply its uses within the foundation. Dr. ████ █████ has already made major breakthroughs using Tesla conductors to power laboratories and containment units alike.
