Description:
SCP-5371-1 and SCP-5371-2 relates to the physical location at the center of the SCP-5371 anomaly along with the the widespread phenomenon surrounding SCP-5371-1. Founded near the town of █████, Minnesota, SCP-5371-1 was formerly known as the Balweather Orphanage. Dating to the early 1800s, original documentation on the orphanage has been lost to record, though eyewitness reports date it being constructed no earlier than the winter of 1814.
Local legends in the area surrounding SCP-5471 alleges that, during the summer of 1852, a native american woman's son was murdered and strung from the town because he had stolen from a general goods store.
When the town refused to return his remains, the woman beset a curse on the town and it's inhabitants, stating that for every year her son was not put to rest, a child would be taken from the town. The owner of the Balweather Orphanage, William Balweather, who's son had been murdered by native americans on a hunting expedition during the prior winter, took the child's remains and hid them, never to be seen again. Some believed the remains were hidden in the foundation of the orphanage, while others believed he simply tossed them into the river adjacent to the village. Regardless, this is believed to be the origin of the SCP-5371 phenomenon.
