Special Containment Procedures: SCP-# is contained at Provisional unit ████ in ████ Russia. SCP-# is to be kept in a sixty-meter deep borehole standing upright. Currently, there is no reason to handle SCP-#. Study and examination are not currently allowed to be undertaken until further notice. A shed is to be locked over the borehole and guarded by a single sentry. No more than one person is permitted to be in close proximity to the shed at any time.

Description: SCP-# is a two hundred and forty-three (243) centimeter tall cylindrical rod with a diameter of ten (10) centimeters. It weighs 19.08 kilograms. It is made of pure zirconium element. It was acquired in the northern pacific ocean approximately three hundred kilometers southeast of the Meynypilgyno township, Russia ██/██/███. It struck a fishing boat and a distress signal was sent from the location. Subjects on site appeared to have been showing signs of unusual behavior. The Foundation was contacted approximately two and a half hours after the signal was sent. Since acquisition, it has been deemed safe only causing minor confusion in personnel. As of recent, research has proven it much more dangerous than former reports suggest.

When subjects are within fifty meters of SCP-#, they will feel head pain that has already been documented as similar to that of a migraine. Danger exists when two criteria are met: (1) Human subject is within approximately thirty meters of SCP-#, the radius is still not entirely understood. (2) Human subject is accompanied by one or more human subjects. When alone, the head pain will be more extreme but when more subjects are present, the newly discovered memory effects begin. After extensive interviewing of personnel who have handled SCP-# and fishing boat workers, it is understood that SCP-# will switch memories between people who are in close proximity to it. The worst affected include the fishing boat workers, Dr. █████ and a security guard who have both begun psychiatric rehabilitation.

Affected subjects range from minor confusions such as believing that you had attended a school that another subject had attended and major confusions such as thinking that you live somewhere that you do not and have children that you do not have. Telling a subject that they are incorrect often results in extreme confusion as the memories are very complex and well-grounded in the subject such as the personality and history of a partner.

Memory of SCP-# is occasionally not present or altered when questioned about it.
