Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: All discovered instances of SCP-XXXX can be easily contained in a steel crate at all times. A gasmask is to be worn by any researchers handling SCP-XXXX or they will be affected by SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-A
Description: SCP-XXXX holds the appearance of a cologne bottle held in a blue bottle, containing approximately 0.17 ounces of cologne. On the front of the bottle, the words 'Mutantur in domum suam' are engraved into the glass, but foundation researchers have been inconclusive as to what the words could mean. Upon spraying SCP-XXXX on a subject, they will report hallucinations of a dark, featherless bird on their shoulder, classified as SCP-XXXX-A. The bird, according to all afflicted subjects, is about the size of a cat, with a yellow beak and a large green eye in the middle of its head. Several have reported that SCP-XXXX-A appears to be molting feathers, implying that it is growing in some way.
SCP-XXXX-A will begin speaking to afflicted subjects within the first three hours of smelling SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-A will start by saying phrases that are significant to the subject in some way, before moving to speaking full sentances. Subjects report that SCP-XXXX-A encourages them to quit some course of action or lifestyle that they have taken, and many times, is successful. After SCP-XXXX-A convinces its victim to change their course of action or mind about something, SCP-XXXX-A mysteriously vanishes, and the subject moves on as if they had never encountered SCP-XXXX. Although, it should be noted that about 35% of subjects who had SCP-XXXX affect them wish for a pet bird afterward. Dr. Torres is unsure if this is a potential side effect of SCP-XXXX-A.
Addendum: SCP-XXXX was originally manufactured in 1987 by the company █████████ as a new cologne utilizing artificial scents pulled from multitudes of labratories across Europe. In 1989, two years after the start of production for SCP-XXXX, it hit factory shelves and was almost immediately recalled due to mass hallucinations. █████████ had tested the cologne before, but equated the hallucinations with the mental illness of its workers. This proved to be untrue, and SCP-XXXX had the ability to force a human to make life altering decisions. █████████ was shut down by the SCP foundation in 1989, less than a month after the cologne was recalled. The foundation has stored all known cases of SCP-XXXX since then, and has approximately ██████ bottles containing SCP-XXXX.
