Auction photo of SCP-X

Item #: SCP-X

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-X must remain in a soundproof room at all times. Ear protection is required by any person within approximately 90 feet.

Description: SCP-X is a 1'5"x6"x5" sculpture of a humanoid head made of various gauges of wire. It was supposedly made by Oskar Greene, the founder and current director of the Memory Suites in Fervour Heights, Massachusetts (Vital information is missing of both the company and town. Possibly caused by the sculpture). After decades without mention, it was discovered to be sold in an auction as Lot 41 in Bloomsden, Mass. at a later point in time for $13,000 by a Harper Ferris. The Wire Head was brought in after the art gallery incident.

Incident Report
Days after it arrived in a art gallery owned by Harper Ferris, a loud shriek reminiscent of a human scream1 emanated from SCP-X at around 2:33 P.M. A flash of black2 covered the building, whereas the entire block where the gallery was located vanished3. The only object or entity left on the block was the sculpture, still sitting on its pedestal4.

Quotes from Witnesses

  1. "…[SCP-X] made a ****in' loud sound. It sounded like some dude got stabbed or murdered."
  2. "Everything, like, flickered I guess? A black flash, like a bad bulb or like I was forced to blink or something."
  3. "It was like one of those David Copperfield tricks. One second, gallery; the next, 'boom,' gone. My wife and I were stunned, and it seems everyone else was, too."
  4. "What happened exactly? I was just walking down the street and saw the head thing on that pedestal in the empty lot. I just assumed it was some rich bloke's idea of modern art."

Addendum X: Once SCP-X was contained, Dr. Kent Gilliam, the Memory Suites's head researcher, tried to contact the Foundation for the retrieval of the sculpture. All requests sent by Dr. Gilliam were denied. Contact from the company still occurs, regarding SCP-X, SCP-[REDACTED], as well as others.

Addendum Xa: It has been recently discovered that once SCP-X has "screamed," it actually moves the affected location and people to its own alternate universe. These location-based universes and the people taken with it have become settings and characters of fictional stories in various media, while the sculpture remains in its place. Some notable affected people and locations include the Bailey family in Bedford Falls, NY; FBI Agent Dale Cooper and the citizens of Twin Peaks, WA; the citizens of Pawnee, IA; and the Torrance family that stayed at The Overlook Hotel, CO. Locations in animated features and other "cartoony" media such as the towns of Springfield, OR; Metropolis, NY; and Nowhere, KS are not listed as affected locations as those are likely purely fictional.
