Special Containment Procedures: Operatives embedded in/or working with anomalous cults are to retrieve any information possible about SCP-XXXX, whether it be in the form of tokens, glyphs, figurines or printed composition. The GoI known as the Serpent's Hand is especially prioritized, as it is deemed the most likely source of information.

Foundation webcrawlers are to monitor and supress any mention or information regarding SCP-XXXX. Forum posts, conversations, tweets and the like are to be entirely deleted from their respective sites. If deemed necessary Head of Research, invidiuals involved in conversations about SCP-XXXX may be subject to review and interrogation by Foundation agents.

Members of the private association known as the Bohemian Club are to be closely monitored.¹ Because of the club's establishment and active years long before SCP-XXXX was known by the foundation, as well as its notorious reputation, constructing a cover story is impractical. Instead, the club's occult and anomalous practices are to painted as rumours, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories by the Branch of Disinformation. Supression of club activites is not necessary, since the club and its members themselves wish to remain secret.

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to information regarding a reality-altering, non-humanoid entity manifesting as an owl, and is referenced by various invidiuals, scriptures and books, with connections to various cults throughout history. Accounts of SCP-XXXX are designated as DOC-XXXX-X, appearing in order of discovery and link to SCP-XXXX.

The first discovered source of information regarding SCP-XXXX is a previously unfamilar letter by the Roman Stoic Seneca the Younger, discovered in 19██. The recipient is unknown. In his letter, Seneca talks about strange rumours he heard about the emperor Caligula when he was in Rome.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-X is stored at the F3² Facility where it is kept in a standard foundation storage container. Unless permitted by Site Command, individuals may only be used in testing once.

Description: SCP-X is a standard VHS tape cassette, measuring 18.7 × 10.2 × 2.5 cm. The cassette features no markings, bearing only a couple of scratch marks due to heavy use. Besides the content on the tape, SCP-X bears no anomalous traits. SCP-X was discovered in 2003 after the tape had presumably been left on a bus in ████, Massachusetts. After sitting in the lost & found section for an unidentified amount of time, the tape was "out of curiosity" viewed by a staff member at ██████, which then contacted local authorities. From there on the Foundation was alerted and retrieved SCP-X. The staff member present at the viewing of the tape were treated with low-level amnestics and returned to their normal routine.

The content of SCP-X is affected by physical contact. Specifically, it has been found that the subject that inserts the tape into the cassette recorder affects what is displayed on the tape.³ The recording will vary entirely from person to person, but each viewing has some consistent properties:

• Each tape begins with a sentence in the form white text on a black background.
• The tape is never longer than 2 hours.
• The subject will always be present in it's own iteration of the tape.
