Special Containment Procedures: Because SCP-XXXX can be bestowed upon any human within 100 km of SCP-XXXX-01, and is otherwise dormant, this containment procedure focuses on maintaining distance between SCP-XXXX-01 and humanity at large. Under no circumstances should personnel approach Site-██.
SCP-XXXX-01 is to be kept in a standard storage locker at Site-██, located on the island of ████████ in the South Pacific. Facility upkeep and maintenance is to be entirely automated, or else directed by artificial intelligence. Naval Task Force Theta-8 (“Monkey Kings”) is to redirect or otherwise detain, amnesticize, and release all naval traffic within a 200-kilometer radius of Site-██.
Through unknown means SCP-XXXX-01 is able to detect the presence of any human within a 100-kilometer radius, and no method of stopping SCP-XXXX-01 from affecting a human with SCP-XXXX has yet been devised. Research into methods of removing SCP-XXXX from human subjects is ongoing. At this time, however, only a voluntary revokal event initiated by SCP-XXXX-01 will result in the successful removal of SCP-XXXX.
As SCP-XXXX was recovered in a raid executed on a gang-controlled warehouse in Chinatown, New York City in 19██, Foundation intelligence is instructed to relay any significant information regarding Chinese-American criminal organizations “Flying Dragons,” “Ghost Shadows,” “Hip Sing Association,” [REDACTED], or any offshoots to NTF Theta-8. Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous interpretation of the Mandate of Heaven, a key concept in Chinese political theory used to justify the deposition of various emperors and the creation of new dynasties throughout Chinese history. Recipients of SCP-XXXX will experience extremely fortuitous events, presumably through an anomalous means of probability manipulation, that will result in an inevitable attainment of social, financial, and tactical success. This will center the recipient in a network that is especially likely to guarantee the recipient either high governmental office or the means to form their own political polity. Other, more noticeably anomalous effects will take place at irregular intervals (refer to SCP-XXXX-A-02 for examples).
However, once SCP-XXXX has been revoked, a series of increasingly serious misfortunes will befall the former recipient, culminating in natural disaster. These natural disasters include, but are not limited to, drought, typhoon, earthquake, and wildfire, and will continue until the death of the former recipient is brought about by another human who will themselves begin to display SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties at SCP-XXXX-01’s discretion.
SCP-XXXX can be granted or revoked by SCP-XXXX-01, an incorporeal entity residing in a Qin Dynasty-era jade seal. This seal measures 12.8 x 12.8 x 10.5 cm and bears a carving of a guardian lion on its surface. Sensors around the seal operating upon the full length of the electromagnetic spectrum report no significant deviations. However, humans within line-of-sight of the seal will sometimes report seeing either a fox with nine tails, a lung, or a toad, all of whom are significant figures in Chinese folklore. During these times, audio equipment will pick up either a male or female voice, speaking in a dialect consistent with Foundation reconstructions of 12th-century Mandarin Chinese. On occasion, this voice is detected when no humans are present.
The last known individual to be affected by SCP-XXXX was Head Researcher Min in 20██, leading to the development of this version of SCP-XXXX’s containment procedures. See Addendum SCP-XXXX-A-04 for details.
