Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Neutralized Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a cell of a size of 10 meters squared. SCP-XXXX is to be given the following furnishes:
(1) Twin sized bed
(1) Bookcase
(1) Literature dating before the 15th century
(5) Quills
(25) Pieces of parchment paper
(1) 3oz jar of iron-gall ink
No humanoid or sentient entity is to physically interact with SCP-XXXX under penalty of quarantine for a five day period, which release may be denied if anomalous properties are shown to still affect the quarantined individual. Quarantined individuals are to be classified as SCP-XXXX-1 and are to be treaty as an SCP for their own safety.
Researchers are allowed to interact with SCP-XXXX via intercom and/or cameras. However, while doing so, the researcher or researchers must be accompanied by an unarmed guard for the duration of the session with SCP-XXXX. If the researcher or researchers show signs of the “curse,” they must be contained as SCP-XXXX-1 under any circumstance. This may also apply to the guard stationed in for the session.
SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber is to be cleaned bi-weekly and any of its parchment that has been marked will be replaced. Its ink may also be replaced or refilled if need be. A D-Class will be assigned to do these tasks. The D-Class may not touch, talk to, or otherwise interact with SCP-XXXX. If the D-Class reports they did in fact interact with SCP-XXXX, or if it is shown on cameras that they did, they are to be contained and kept as SCP-XXXX-1.
An event involving one such D-Class resulting in most furnishings being banned from SCP-XXXX’s room. This event is referred to as The Poster Incident.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be contained for a period of 5 days, where after they are reviewed by thaumaturgical personnel for signs of the “curse.” If SCP-XXXX-1 continues to show signs of the “curse” after 5 days, they will be contained indefinitely as SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 is never to be released from containment for the purpose of their safety, as no instance of SCP-XXXX-2 has ever survived more than an hour after being released from containment.
SCP-XXXX is to never be told or otherwise notified of history after the 14th century for the sake of its mental state.
Signs of the “curse” are such:
Mirrors inexplicably breaking around the subject
Four leaf clovers suddenly losing all their leaves around a subject
The subject tripping over their own feet
Umbrellas opening on their own when around the subject
When an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 is kept in captivity for more than 30 days, sometimes their minds will become “cursed.” This has only ever happened in 5 cases of SCP-XXXX-2. Such cases will now be referred to as SCP-XXXX-3. SCP-XXXX-3 is extremely aggressive, non-sentient and should be disposed of immediately after confirmation of their condition. SCP-XXXX-3 will begin to speak in Old English, attempt to joust with any male it sees, with or without a horse, and will try to rescue any “princesses.” Despite their ability to speak and attack others effectively, instances of SCP-XXXX-3 are essentially dead. No brain activity can be seen in an instance of SCP-XXXX-3. It is theorized that SCP-XXXX-3s are directly controlled by SCP-XXXX via a psychic link. How SCP-XXXX is able to form such a link with a deceased subject is not yet known, but is actively investigated.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an animated suit of armor belonging to a 14th century English knight. SCP-XXXX stands at 177cm and weighs 86kgs. SCP-XXXX claims to be a soldier under the King of 14th century England, Edward II. It argues that it was once a “Arthur Addington” of great renown in all of Albion. However, no historical accounts can be shown for a “Arthur Addington” in the company of Edward II, nor any records of a famous knight by that name in that time. This was once attempted to be discussed with SCP-XXXX, however it began to be hysterical and outwardly aggressive, the only such documented time it has been directly so.
SCP-XXXX will undergo periods of “meditation” ranging from 14 days to 3 years. During this time it is unconscious and can be interacted without fear of anomalous effects. This is only after SCP-XXXX has extreme episodes of grief and confusion. During these episodes, SCP-XXXX changes its backstory. Its claims range from being a previous British RAF pilot during WW2 to a Japanese soldier during the Russo-Japanese war in the early 20th century. Once SCP-XXXX claimed to be an American colonist, however this appeared to greatly affect it and it wished to return to Britain. When its request was denied, it attacked and managed to kill a MTF soldier before being restrained and put back in containment. The squad that contained SCP-XXXX were all converted to instances of SCP-XXXX-3 and executed on ██/██/████.
These episodes have always had a cooling off period after the “meditation,” except for one instance in 1965, where it awoke from a “meditation” period and began to scream that it “had to get out of ‘nam.” It began to slam into walls and break its bookcase, denting its armor for which it had appeared to be in pain for. After a period of 15 minutes, it fell into a state of unconsciousness, which had lasted for 15 years. This is the only recorded instance where SCP-XXXX had verbally spoken anything. All listeners of this event had shown signs and were contained as SCP-XXXX-1. They recovered in the 5 day period. The Foundation is currently investigating how news of the war reached SCP-XXXX.
While other episodes revealed its knowledge of events which it should not have access to, this one was the most severe and as such, SCP-XXXX is not to be told of anything after the 14th century by order of Site Overseer ████ ██████.
Because of these episodes, it is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX is currently suffering from an endless end-stage form of dementia. While SCP-XXXX has shown no signs of physical injury, aging or any other signs of approaching a death, it is not proven that SCP-XXXX cannot die.
In an interview with one Dr. Schokker, it was revealed that SCP-XXXX believes that the “curse” originates from King Arthur and that it was cursed to never “commune with the living or the dead.” This was before the “curse” was fully understood and as such Dr. Schokker was not contained. However, Dr. Schokker did not suffer from the same effects that one would have in his place. When the researcher questioned SCP-XXXX about this, it said that, “the curse is saving you for last, doctor.”
If Dr. Schokker is to ever show signs of the “curse”, he is to be contained as an instance of SCP-XXXX-2.
Currently SCP-XXXX is undergoing trials and testing by Dr. Schokker and a team of thaumaturgical experts to understand the science behind whether SCP-XXXX is truly cursed or if it is anomalous in other ways.
The Poster Incident: While a D-Class was obtaining marked parchment paper from SCP-XXXX’s room, he had bumped into SCP-XXXX. A taped poster depicting Edward II then had fallen from where it was taped on the wall. A gust of air blew under from the door and hit the poster, pushing it forward towards the D-Class. The right edge of the poster blew past the D-Class’ neck and cut his carotid artery. The D-Class began to bleed out after this.
A researcher, seeing that the D-Class was dying through the cameras, had attempted to open the door to SCP-XXXX’s cell, however the electronic lock did not respond to her card, despite the appropriate level of clearance being used by her. Once the cell door could be unlocked and the D-Class' health evaluated, the D-Class had been determined to be deceased.
Dr. Schokker's Research:
A note taped to the folder of research reads as follows: The bastard is saving me for last, I know it is. It has been taunting ever since that day, beckoning me into that dreaded curse of his. What the hell does that mean, "it is saving me for last?"
Interview Log-A:
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Dr. Schokker
Foreword: First interview with the anomalous entity by new researcher, Dr. Schokker, previously from the Thaumaturgical Division. Dr. Schokker will be working under me, Dr. Rayson and with his assistant, Mrs. Reynolds.
<Begin Log, 18:37 ██/██/1896>
Dr.Schokker: We are aware that you can communicate, SCP-XXXX. Please cooperate and your time here will go by easier.
SCP-XXXX: [SCP-XXXX writes in Old English with the pencil he is given, Dr. Schokker translates.] Where am I?
Dr.Schokker: You are in a sort of… let's say holding facility? A prison perhaps?
SCP-XXXX: [SCP-XXXX continues to write and Dr. Schokker translates below] Have I done something wrong?
Dr.Schokker: Are you aware of the event at Leeds Castle?
SCP-XXXX: Ladenses in Elmot? I haven't been there in ages. Wonderful place-
Dr.Schokker: You killed eight people, SCP-XXXX, are you aware of that?
SCP-XXXX: It was not me. It was King Arthur's Curse.
Dr. Schokker: So you are aware.
SCP-XXXX: Yes, I am aware of what the curse did in Ladenses. It looks quite different from when I last saw it.
Dr. Schokker: Let's move on. What is under your armor? We are not getting any heat si-
SCP-XXXX: What do you think is under my armor? What could there be but me, Arthur Addington!
Dr. Schokker: That is your name?
SCP-XXXX: No, it's not mine. Where is Edward?
Dr. Schokker: SCP-XXXX, who is Edward, do you know him?
SCP-XXXX: I worked with the man, the king! I know who he is.
Dr. Schokker: May I ask, SCP-XXXX-
SCP-XXXX: Why do you keep calling me that?
Dr. Schokker: It's just procedure, please, let me finish. SCP-XXXX, what century do you believe you are in? What is today's date?
SCP-XXXX: [It pauses before writing down very quickly] What century do you think we are in, Dr. Schokker?
Dr. Schokker: How do you know my name?
SCP-XXXX: I am you. We are still within the Foundation?
Dr. Schokker: I'm done with this interview, guards! Can anyone open these doors?
SCP-XXXX: [SCP-XXXX urgently hands Dr. Schokker a note] Listen to me, you are to be the last one cursed. The last of us in this armor, but you still have a chance to avoid it. To stop it. Let me help!
Dr. Schokker: [Leaves the interview room with the note]
<End Log, 18:58 ██/██/1896>
Closing Statement: Dr. Schokker underwent a period of stress, extreme neurasthenia and insomnia. This lasted for 5 days, upon which Dr. Schokker began to recover. On the 7th day, Dr. Schokker was cleared to go back to work. SCP-XXXX was found to be irritable and would write nonsense onto its papers, before falling asleep.
*Addendum*: The previous SCP-XXXX has been determined to be Neutralized after an incident involving Dr. Schokker. Due to the nature of King Arthur's Curse, Dr. Schokker has inherited the anomalous properties of the SCP-XXXX now referred to as the Addington Object.
Ideas: Russian Diamonds which have different effects based on their color. Maybe could look at why Diamonds have different colors and use those reasons to base effects off of.
Anomalous Properties?: Diamonds put those effected into a "trance." Foundation finds out through scanning patients' brains that they are still conscious. After more testing, it seems that the patients go into a sort of surreal dream state in which their physical body reflects that of their dream body. A few months into the experiment, half of the patients die of a cardiac arrest and the other wake up. When they wake up, their mental age is much higher than when they first interacted with the diamonds.
Background of the Russian Diamonds?: A mine was cursed by a witch who was put to death by the Russian village in which she was killed by. Anyone who is greedy enough to go near the mine, will be sent to that realm.
