Special Containment Procedures: If a member of SCP-XXXX is observed, it is to be tranquilized immediately. It is to then be transferred to a cell with the proper equipment to maintain a medically induced coma.
While in the cell, the instance is to be watched by armed guards. If any unauthorized individuals are found inside the cell, even if they appear to be Foundation personnel, they are to be assumed to be a member of SCP-XXXX.
Lethal force is authorized for SCP-XXXX. However, it is to be used only in drastic situations.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a group of ten masked humans designated SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-10. Each member of SCP-XXXX is equipped with uniforms and documentation usually given to Foundation personnel. They also carry the same model of firearms as those used by Foundation agents. How they gained access to any of these items is unknown. A search of Foundation databases showed no matches for the information on SCP-XXXX’s documents. However, they are aware of many high level access codes1, giving them a limited ability to move throughout Foundation sites uninterrupted.
SCP-XXXX has shown an anomalous ability to materialize and dematerialize seemingly at will. They spend most of their time dematerialized, only appearing during containment breaches usually appearing during containment breaches. How they are aware of the timing of containment breaches is unknown. Should a member of SCP-XXXX suffer lethal injury, they dematerialize immediately. In all other situations, when SCP-XXXX dematerializes, all members disappear at the same time. Whenever SCP-XXXX materializes, it contains ten members. Whether it contains the same members during each instance is unknown.
Members of SCP-XXXX are generally friendly to site personnel, and have cooperated with all orders given to them. When appearing during a containment breach, they will attempt to assist personnel with recontainment. So far, SCP-XXXX-1, the self reported leader of SCP-XXXX, is the only member that has spoken to Foundation personnel (see interview logs).
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the collapse of Site-25, Site-32 has been designated for SCP-XXXX’s containment. On the first day of each month, SCP-XXXX is to be removed from its safe and brought to Sector 112 alongside an acceptable candidate for SCP-XXXX-1. Upon reaching the correct location, the candidate is to touch SCP-XXXX. For the safety of all individuals involved, no direct contact is to be made with SCP-XXXX at any other point in its handling.
Containment of SCP-XXXX-1 is to be exclusively assigned to Mobile Task Force Epsilon-7 (“The Twelve Labors”). This task force is not to have the Foundation logo anywhere on their uniforms nor are they to proclaim their association with the Foundation in any way. They are to be assigned the goal of killing SCP-XXXX-1. Their belief of this is important to guarantee that they will become an instance of SCP-XXXX-2. When they inevitably fail their believed goal they are to be disbanded immediately in order to prevent lasting consequences to the members. Afterwards, a new, identical, task force can be made with different members.
Candidates for SCP-XXXX-1 are to be selected from D-Class when they are recruited. Candidates are to be kept separate from other D-Class and not given any information about the Foundation. Upon their arrival at Sector-11, Class A amnestics are to be administered to remove any potential knowledge of the Foundation. After the effects of SCP-XXXX wear off, they may be used for other tasks.
If SCP-XXXX-1 escapes containment, conflict is not to be initiated. Instead, a clear surrender is to be announced by a nearby personnel member with the most authority.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large, leather bound book weighing approximately one kilogram. The cover is unmarked aside from signs of weathering. Approximately 20-30 pages at the beginning have been removed, leaving no traces of the original author.
While SCP-XXXX-1 holds SCP-XXXX, the pages fill with text describing its actions. The text in SCP-XXXX has a style of writing similar to works of fiction, favoring imagery and metaphor. SCP-XXXX is always full of writing, seemingly creating blank pages as they are needed. Despite this, SCP-XXXX’s size and mass never change. Attempts to trace the handwriting in SCP-XXXX are ongoing.
If any individual makes contact with SCP-XXXX, they become an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 show an increased hatred of a specific individual or organization that they consider immoral, henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. It is believed that the individual who touches SCP-XXXX makes this selection. The exact criteria for who can become an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 have yet to be determined (see testing logs for more details).
Once SCP-XXXX-2 is selected, they will be pursued by SCP-XXXX-1. As of yet, all attempts to stop the two from meeting have ended in failure. Once they meet, SCP-XXXX-1 will initiate a conflict with SCP-XXXX-2 or its members. This conflict will always result in a victory condition in favor of SCP-XXXX-1.3 After a victory condition is met, SCP-XXXX-1 will lose all anomalous properties. However, psychological tests have shown that they display an increase in self confidence.
After a victory condition is met, SCP-XXXX-2 will have an effect imposed on it. These effects commonly have consequences that last even after the effects of SCP-XXXX wear off. The exact effect is chosen by SCP-XXXX-1, but it is unclear whether or not SCP-XXXX has any control over this choice. Examples of effects include:
- A public apology on behalf of SCP-XXXX-2.
- If SCP-XXXX-2 has violated state or federal law, ensuring the associated law enforcement officers successfully apprehend them.
- If SCP-XXXX-2 is an individual, removal from their position of status and/or power.
- If SCP-XXXX-2 is an organization, implementation of policies to restrict their functionality, or complete disbandment.
No conflict between SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 has resulted in the deaths of any individual involved. Many researchers believe it is impossible for SCP-XXXX to directly kill someone.
SCP-XXXX-A refers to a set of phenomena that follow SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-A causes SCP-XXXX to come into contact with an individual, thereby triggering its other anomalous properties. SCP-XXXX-A only occurs when SCP-XXXX has been untouched for a prolonged period of time. No exact time has been measured, but SCP-XXXX has never gone untouched for more than a year. Events caused by SCP-XXXX-A are indistinguishable from natural occurrences by all accounts except for their frequency. Examples of events include locking mechanism failures, fracturing of SCP-XXXX’s safe, and malfunctions in safety programs.
Natural Test 1 - 02/08/2010
Subject: Agent Forrest
Procedure: At this time, SCP-XXXX-A was undiscovered. Agent Forrest was guarding it when this ability manifested. A locking failure caused SCP-XXXX to fall out during transport. Agent Forrest picked it up, becoming an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. In an interview afterwards he claimed to have “forgotten the danger” of such an action.
Excerpt From SCP-XXXX: “Upon touching the leather-bound pages, the agent felt a calling. A calling long dormant within him. A calling to do the right thing. A calling for vengeance…”
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 left its post immediately. Attempts by nearby guards to restrain it proved unsuccessful. It went to the residence of an individual later found to have kidnapped SCP-XXXX-1’s son three years prior. SCP-XXXX-1 initiated a conflict with SCP-XXXX-2. Near the end of the conflict, SCP-XXXX-2 said “there’s something I need to tell you about your son. He’s…” before falling unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, SCP-XXXX-1 made SCP-XXXX-2 confess its crimes to the police. SCP-XXXX-2 showed no memory of their statement during the conflict.

SCP-XXXX-1 Termination Test - 05/11/2012
Subject: D-374103
Procedure: D-374103 was given SCP-XXXX, with armed personnel standing by to terminate them on contact.
Excerpt From SCP-XXXX: “…He saw the guns facing him, in their barrels the Grim Reaper. He vowed this wouldn’t be the day he died. With a lunge he took out the first gunman, bullets flying by his head…”
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 restrained all personnel firing upon it. Why rope was left in the testing chamber is still under investigation. SCP-XXXX-1 then issued a command, “Stop shooting at me.” The restrained personnel afterward showed an anomalous property to make any firearm they attempted to use misfire. They are to be transferred to assignments where such weaponry is not required.
SCP-XXXX-2 Candidacy Test 1 - 15/01/2013
Subject: Agent Wilson
Procedure: Before Agent Wilson was given SCP-XXXX, she was given a baseline morality exam. The exam showed expected results (e.g. strong preferences against murder, theft, etc.) D-928461 was then identified to them as possessing multiple charges of homicide.
Excerpt From SCP-XXXX: “Rachel saw the man in front of her. His crimes were heinous, yes. He had committed cruel acts. There was no way to forgive him for this. But she needed to focus on the true villains. The insidious masterminds behind this whole plot…”
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 began to move towards the researchers, but they surrendered upon noticing this. SCP-XXXX-1 showed dissatisfaction at this, but stopped its pursuit. The researchers were forced to send out memos “publicly apologizing” to the site for “trapping Rachel with a murderer”.
Notes: SCP-XXXX’s language is getting strange, I’m not noticing any of this filler text when it’s being contained. -Head Researcher Garcia
SCP-XXXX-2 Candidacy Test 2 - 04/06/2013
Subject: D-739271
Procedure: Head Researcher Garcia authorized the use of external personnel for an attempt at containment. Freelance guards experienced in anomalies were brought in with the plan to reimburse them for damages caused by SCP-XXXX-1. They were given the directions to contain SCP-XXXX-1 “by any means necessary”.
Excerpt From SCP-XXXX: “…Upon restraining her assailants, she realized that this wasn’t her fight. For these were no ordinary mercenaries. They were the Halifax brothers, a pair of notorious arms dealers. They were wanted far and wide for their despicable transgressions. She began to think back to tales she heard of these people. (sizable portion cut for brevity) It all added up to one thing. These people didn’t belong to her. They belonged to the cops…”
Results: The freelance guards were convicted on multiple counts of arms trafficking. While they had committed many crimes, they had no outstanding warrants. This conflicts with what SCP-XXXX implied. D-739271 stated that they had no prior knowledge of these crimes. In prison, the freelancers began to try to use anomalous means to escape. In order to avoid public knowledge of these techniques, the Foundation has begun attempting to transfer them to a prison experienced in containing anomalies. However, no attempts to move them from their prison have succeeded. This includes both the Foundation’s attempts and the freelancer’s attempts.
Notes: Seriously, I know SCP-XXXX always sounds strange, but this is a new level. -Head Researcher Garcia
The PERSEUS Program
Objective: To put an end to applicable groups of interest using SCP-XXXX.
Methodology: Thorough research is to be done on a group before they can be considered a target. A guarantee must be made that they will attempt to kill SCP-XXXX-1. Afterward, an applicable candidate is to be moved into the proper position. They are to only touch SCP-XXXX right before interacting with the group of interest.
Targets: Only organizations that show severe violent tendencies are to be considered as candidates for SCP-XXXX-2. There must be a way of knowing that they will attempt to kill SCP-XXXX-1 on sight. Candidates for SCP-XXXX-1 may be selected due to their likelihood of being attacked by SCP-XXXX-2.
Approval: The PERSEUS program has been approved by Head Researcher Garcia.
PERSEUS Test 1 - 03/11/2015
SCP-XXXX-1: Agent Lee
SCP-XXXX-2: The “Shining Children”. A religious group with knowledge of dangerous thaumaturgic rituals. They are commonly referred to as a cult and testing has shown a strong disapproval of them by individuals not in the organization. They are also particularly defensive of their church and will commonly resort to violence if they find a trespasser.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 interrupted a meeting by the organization, this led to the members attacking it. After restraining all members, it ordered the leader to disband the church. There have been no signs of activity from SCP-XXXX-2 since.

PERSEUS Test 4 - 20/01/2016
SCP-XXXX-1: Agent O’Brian
SCP-XXXX-2: The “Watchdogs”. A group of mercenaries known for using anomalous weaponry. The SCP-XXXX-1 candidate was chosen for their past involvement with this group and subsequent animosity towards them.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 announced to SCP-XXXX-2 “I bet you didn’t expect me back so soon!” It proceeded to challenge every member of SCP-XXXX-2 to a fight individually, taking about three hours. It is uncertain why no members refused the challenge or fought SCP-XXXX-1 alongside each other. Despite fighting every member, SCP-XXXX-1 only imposed an effect on one. This person was later found to be SCP-XXXX-1’s supervisor while working for SCP-XXXX-2 and the main reason for its animosity. They were removed from their position and made to apologize to SCP-XXXX-1 before being sent to prison where they are now serving a life sentence. There are no records of them committing any crime that would provide such a sentence. Future tests are to avoid personal connections between individuals assigned as SCP-XXXX-1 and individuals or organizations assigned as SCP-XXXX-2.
The PERSEUS Program has been temporarily suspended to allow for proper diligence in researching SCP-XXXX-2 candidates.
PERSEUS Test 5 - 06/05/2017
SCP-XXXX-1: Agent Grey
SCP-XXXX-2: The “New Kids”. An organized crime group that has gained access to several anomalous devices. See results.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 did not follow Foundation directions. Instead of revealing itself to the group of interest, it ran back to Site-25. Site-25 was informed ahead of time by the researchers nearby SCP-XXXX-1. As such, when it arrived, Director Brown immediately announced a surrender. SCP-XXXX-1 did not acknowledge the statement. Instead, it went to the nearest containment cells and opened them.4 This caused the nearby guards to fire upon it, consistently missing. SCP-XXXX-1 ignored the guards and continued to open cell doors. As an evacuation of Site-25 was ordered, SCP-XXXX-1 announced to the Director Brown, “Now, you can surrender.” SCP-XXXX-1 ordered the director to “disband” Site-25. All attempts to rebuild a site within one kilometer of Site-25 have been met with complete failure due to incidents such as technical failures or structural collapses. Attempts to recapture SCPs that escaped during this breach are ongoing. SCP-XXXX’s containment has been moved to Site-32.
The PERSEUS Program has been permanently suspended by order of the O5 council.
Interviewed: Agent Grey
Interviewer: Head Researcher Garcia
Foreword: After he caused the collapse of Site-25, Agent Grey was taken into custody. This interview was done to conclude whether or not he could be held accountable for the actions he performed under the influence of SCP-XXXX.
<Begin Log>
Researcher Garcia: Please state your name for the record.
Agent Grey: Adam Grey
Researcher Garcia: I suppose there’s no kind way to ask this. What on Earth made you attack a Foundation site without a care in the world?
Agent Grey: I think you know the answer. It’s that book. I couldn’t control myself.
Researcher Garcia: Now that’s just blatantly false. It’s not like you were mind controlled.
Agent Grey: How do you know? You didn’t feel it.
Researcher Garcia: I did my research. I ran the interviews with every other subject. There was a warmth when you touched the book. You felt, empowered, like you could take on the world. You felt like a hero.
(Agent Grey laughs)
Researcher Garcia: you’re free to stop me if you disagree.
Agent Grey: Then stop. Wow, that was just… I wish I stopped you sooner.
Researcher Garcia: Then tell me, what did you feel?
Agent Grey: You said warmth? That book was ice cold, and it left me feeling even colder. I was hungry. Not for food, but for attention. You know how kids act out? It was a little like that.
Researcher Garcia: Even if I believe this, you claim that the book was in control of you? This would be completely unprecedented, and awfully convenient for you.
Agent Grey: Hey! I’m just saying what I felt! It didn’t quite control me. I did what had to be done.
Researcher Garcia: A breach of some of the most dangerous beings on the planet “had to be done”?
Agent Grey: Well, not until I touched the book.
Researcher Garcia: Do tell.
Agent Grey: Do you believe in fate, Mr. Garcia?
Researcher Garcia: Not particularly.
Agent Grey: Well I didn’t either until I touched that thing. But now I get it. Some things just, happen.
Researcher Garcia: Like attacking the Foundation?
(Agent Grey says nothing)
Researcher Garcia: If you’re trying to dodge responsibility you’re doing a really bad job of it.
Agent Grey: I’m not trying to dodge responsibility. I said I’m trying to tell you what I felt. If I get punished for that, so be it.
Researcher Garcia: Oh don’t try to make yourself a hero. You know what you did.
Agent Grey: Funny you should say that. Because that’s actually the only thing you got right about the book. It did make me feel like a hero again.
Researcher Garcia: Again?
Agent Grey: Do you know why I joined the Foundation? Lord knows it wasn’t for the money. It was for the image. A recruiter reached out to me and said I’d “save the world” and “be a hero”. I knew they were just trying to say what I wanted to hear but, it was what I wanted to hear.
Researcher Garcia: Yeah, we get a lot of people like you, they don’t usually last long though. Why didn’t you just leave when you realized that’s not what we do here?
Agent Grey: Because that is what we do. I got to save the day every once in a while. But then I was bored. I was a guard, a warden, a commander. They were supposed to be promotions. They didn’t feel that way.
Researcher Garcia: So would you say you were glad to have touched SCP-XXXX? It let you be a hero again?
Agent Grey: Something tells me I’ve chosen my words poorly.
Researcher Garcia: No, I think you chose all your words right.

Closing Statement: With pressure from Head Researcher Garcia, Agent Grey’s contract has been terminated.

Subject: SCP-XXXX
I’ve noticed a pattern in SCP-XXXX’s tests, and I can’t be the only one. Look at how strict the punishments have gotten. This isn’t random, it didn’t happen overnight. There needs to be a reason. I believe I have that reason. It’s all in our containment procedures. I understand that they’re meant to minimize risk, but look at what gets written whenever they’re done.
“As the task force surrendered, the task force disbanded, The End.”
It’s like that every time. No resolution, no drama, just an ending. Now that may seem like nothing. But when containing SCP-XXXX, it is everything. Why do you think Agent Grey felt hungry? We’ve been starving this book of the drama it needs. It’s been getting desperate. We already lost a site, I shudder to think what’s next. Which is why I’m proposing a change to SCP-XXXX’s containment procedures. Give it the story it needs. We just need to give SCP-XXXX-1 a little more agency. I understand that it’s taking a risk. But we can’t afford to get on this thing’s bad side. Because the hero always wins in the end. So we better pray to god we’re not the villains.

What you are proposing would pose a greater threat to the Foundation than any test we’ve done so far, including the one that collapsed your site. We still don’t know how this thing chooses its victims and your idea is just to cut it loose? All this for the sake of being “nice” to it. I understand you’ve gone through a stressful situation, but that does not give you an excuse to be reckless. Your proposal has been rejected.
