Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a 1M x 1M x 1M clear plastic cube, on which the front face is removable for maintenance purposes only. During downtime, no guards are required to guard SCP-XXXX's container, but every 24 hours, a personnel with Security Clearance Level 2 or higher is required to check through surveillance footage and take note of any activity.
On the 1st day of every month, SCP-XXXX is to be removed from its container and the 9V battery on its back is to be replaced by any personnel with Security Clearance Level 1 or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a smoke detector which was placed in a hut on a hill outside of ██████. Its anomalous properties were discovered when the hut burned down, and after an inspection it was revealed that SCP-XXXX did not react to the smoke, or get damaged in the fire.
After being brought back to Site-██, SCP-XXXX's alarm went off at seemingly random intervals. After further investigation (See Addendum SCP-XXXX-01), it has been concluded that SCP-XXXX reacts whenever there is an anomalous phenomenon within 20 meters of SCP-XXXX. The possibility of using SCP-XXXX to help locate other anomalies in the world is currently being discussed.
Addendum SCP-XXXX-01: SCP-XXXX, held by Dr. ████, was moved in and out of a 20 meter range of SCP-999, SCP-662, and SCP-131. Whenever SCP-XXXX was within 20 meters of an SCP, its alarm turned on, and whenever SCP-XXXX was moved out of a 20 meter range, its alarm turned off. It seems that SCP-XXXX has some sort of properties that allow it to detect other anomalous objects, locations or phenomena. Whether or not it could be used for locating new anomalies which we could contain should be considered.
