FirTreeMan

Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-42069 are to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell, equipped with the latest medical technology. Any personnel interacting with an instance of SCP-42069 must wear full biohazard suits and have their mouths covered by plastic sheeting.
Description: SCP-42069 is a species of sentient fungus that grows on the skin of humans and other mammals. It appears as a white or light brown growth on the body, usually near the heart. The growth is about the size of a grain of rice and has a single spore at its center. When exposed to sunlight, it will begin to grow into a mushroom-like structure. Once fully grown, the mushroom will change color from white to red and then finally black. If exposed to fire, it will wither and die. If left alone, SCP-42069 will continue growing indefinitely. This process is dubbed "maturation." Instances of SCP-42069 are capable of speech and communication through this means. They also possess the ability to control the minds of those who come in contact with them. These abilities allow SCP-42069 to survive in any environment and reproduce without food or water. However, these abilities are not without risk; if a victim infected by SCP-42069 attempts to leave the 15km by 15km area where the “parent instance” of SCP-42069 is located, they will immediately be attacked by instances of SCP-42069 currently growing on them. Parent instances of SCP-42069 are instances of SCP-42069 that measure about 3 meters in length, and have an appearance of a soft, mossy ball.
Instances of SCP-42069 will attempt to consume the victim's flesh and organs by slowly secreting acid before devouring their brain. Once consumed, the brain becomes a new “parent instance'' of SCP-42069. These parent instances have interiors of flesh. Parent instances of SCP-42069 also slowly secrete new instances of SCP-42069. Subjects that die while under the effects of SCP-42069 will become new parent instances of SCP-42069.
After a random period of time ranging from 1 year to 10 years, all instances of SCP-42069 will eventually transform into one organism. This transformation takes place over the course of several days and involves the entire population moving to a random area on the Earth to become a single organism. This transformation is further referred to as "group death." After group death, all instances of SCP-42069 will change into the appearance of a Caucasian male that contains the memories of the individual(s) which were consumed by SCP-42069. In some cases, instances of these humanoids, dubbed SCP-4209-1, may retain consciousness after the group death of the population of SCP-42069 and occasionally will communicate with researchers. However, all instances of SCP-42069-01, conscious or unconscious, will die, and several parent instances of SCP-42069 will slowly exit the instance of SCP-42069-01.
