[NOTICE: This is my first SCP, as a result, it is very bad. Read at your own peril.]
Item #: SCP-4968
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4968 is currently housed at site 19. Normally, SCP-4968 will be placed in a 6 x 7 x 3 meter living chamber, fitted with one (1) bathroom, one (1) desk, and one (1) wooden box filled with various toys. Meals are to be administered regularly. Once a day, a researcher will monitor SCP-4968 for signs of an outburst. If signs are visible, it will be moved to a reinforced cell 5 x 5 x 5 meters in size until said outburst has gone underway, at which point they will be returned to the primary containment chamber. While in the secondary containment chamber, SCP-4968 must be monitored via remote video surveillance at all times.
While in primary containment, if authorized, personnel may enter SCP-4968's containment chamber and interact with it in the presence of armed guards.
Description: SCP-4968 is a young, caucasian female measuring 156 centimeters in height and 46.7 kilograms in weight. A large scar runs down from underneath the chin, down the sternum, and stopping below the bottom of the rib cage. It appears to have no anomalous effects upon immediate interactions, ignoring cases of abnormal social and constructive behaviors, but it has been witnessed to undergo violent and dramatic physical and mental changes for varied periods of time. These events are referred to as outbursts.
When in a normal state, SCP-4968 appears as a normal child, referring to itself as 'Clara.' It will interact with and engage in intelligent conversation with anyone who interacts with it passively. It has been shown to be unusually intelligent, with an estimated IQ of 160-170. When not presented with an immediate task, it will often be observed constructing innocuous, or less commonly, useful, or even dangerous contraptions out of available materials, even if such materials are limited. While SCP-4968 does express hunger and thirst, it does not express fatigue and cannot be observed resting at any time. It cannot be observed expressing or otherwise experiencing normal human emotions; on no occasion has it been observed to cry, laugh, smile, or grow angered or frustrated.
It should also be noted that SCP-4968 has never been observed falling unconscious, even after being administered large amounts of sedatives or experiencing severe head trauma. It is also observed to eat an average of 4000 calories a day for extended periods of time and experience no weight gain, despite the lack of physical activity it experiences.
Outbursts usually occur after an extended period of stress, characterised by less frequent and effective construction of contraptions and by the scar located on its chest opening up and bleeding. It will often be seen clawing at the scar, opening it further and drawing blood in ways that would normally be considered painful. Protective wrappings that can only be removed by authorized researchers have been put on SCP-4968 to prevent this. This period of stress usually lasts about 3-8 days before an outburst occurs, at which point normal behavior resumes. Outbursts can also be triggered forcefully by causing direct harm to SCP-4968. SCP-4968 has experienced a total of 15 outbursts since being placed in containment on █/█/████. 11 have occurred naturally and 3 have occurred after attempts at dissection. Naturally occurring outbursts surface normally once every 3-5 months, though periods of shorter or longer time have been recorded.
Outbursts are characterized by SCP-4968 becoming extremely violent and destructive towards anything in sight, and visible changes to its body structure. These changes result in it becoming much stronger and faster than most humans, let alone most children. In this state, it has been observed running up to fifty nine (59) kilometers per hour and jumping up to four (4) meters in the air from a standing position. Claw-like appendages form on its fingers and toes, emerging from under the skin, resulting in excessive bleeding. The legs can be observed to change to a more digitigrade bone structure. In this state, SCP-4968 will attempt to destroy anything in sight, which would result in destruction of furniture, damage to surrounding structures, or casualties if proper containment measures are not taken. SCP-4968 can be incapacitated relatively easily, usually through gunfire, though this will result in the outburst lasting considerably longer, being days or weeks as compared to hours. In these extended outbursts, SCP-4968 can be observed going through cycles of viciously thrashing and spasming and then laying motionless.
SCP-4968 to have grown up in [REDACTED], gone to [REDACTED] school, and lived with her single mother named [REDACTED]. These statements have not confirmed nor disproved, though SCP-4968 was recovered only twenty three (23) miles from the stated location, giving the statements some credibility.
Upon further investigation of SCP-4968's physical makeup, it is evident that, beyond all layers of skin, no human DNA is present within their body and their internal structures differ vastly from any mammal. Further study of SCP-4968's anatomy is difficult due to the frequent occurrence of outbursts upon its skin being punctured. The use of anesthetic drugs has no effects in preventing these outbursts.
Addendum 4968-1: Operation log
Date: 1-7-2012
Purpose: To study the bone structure of SCP-4968's legs
Prerequisites: SCP-4968 administered anesthetics. After two (2) hours, no effects of the drug shown. Alternatively, SCP-4968 administered strong painkillers and numbing agents to both legs and put into ankle and wrist restraints for the operation. Three (3) armed guards present in the operating room.
Results: After creating the first incision into SCP-4968's calf, it was observed that under all layers of skin, another layer of skin was present. The second layer of skin was black in appearance and substantially stronger than the first. Five (5) minutes after the first incision was made, SCP-4968 went into an outburst. Excessive thrashing and attempts to break free made further study impossible. All medical personnel were evacuated from the room, and SCP-4968 was left restrained under the observation of armed guards until normal behavior resumed, at which point it was returned to their primary containment cell.
Date: 2-19-2012
Purpose: To study the bone structure of SCP-4968's legs
Prerequisites: SCP-4968 administered strong painkillers and numbing agents. Restrained extensively, at the wrists, shoulders, torso, head, neck, and ankles. Blindfolded, as to ensure they are not aware of the operation. Three (3) armed guards present in the operating room.
Results: After the first incision was made, and the second layer of skin was exposed, All medical personnel were instructed to wait until further notice to continue the dissection. After it was confirmed that no outburst was occurring, medical personnel were cleared to continue. As soon as the second skin was punctured, however, SCP-4968 immediately went into an outburst. The dissection was able to continue due to the extensive restraints placed on SCP-4968. Medical personnel were only able to collect a vial of blood before the left ankle restraint was broken and one of the medical personnel was kicked to the ground by SCP-4968. The operation was aborted.
Notes: How on earth did it know it was being operated on? Was it because it knew the environment, from before? Either way, forget the legs. I want to know what that second skin is about. -Dr. G██████
Date: 3-16-2012
Purpose: To collect a sample of SCP-4968's second skin
Prerequisites: Same as operation performed on 2-19-2012
Results: As soon as SCP-4968 was restrained, before medical personnel entered the room, it entered an outburst and broke free from their restraints. Two (2) of the three (3) armed guards were killed before it was incapacitated. Operation aborted.
Notes: no more operating on this thing. Risk of a containment breach or harm to valuable medical staff is far too high. Dr. G██████, this is your last warning. -05-██
Addendum 4968-2: During an outburst, SCP-4968 managed to remove the protective wrapping that prevented them from damaging the scarred tissue on their chest. Over the next about twenty (20) to forty (40) minutes, they were able to pull 70% of their skin off their body, keeping it intact, before it was realized what was occuring. It was later confirmed that SCP-4968 was not being properly monitored at the time of the incident and all guilty parties are being met with the proper disciplinary action.
Revealed was a humanoid with a completely black 'hide' of sorts, two (2) pairs of eyes, and various fleshy, apparently useless appendages running down the back of the head and back. Armed guards intervened and attempted to restrain SCP-4968, resulting in one (1) casualty. SCP-4968 was successfully restrained. Researchers opted to leave it restrained until the outburst ceased, but after eight (8) days they continued to appear extremely aggressive when approached.
They were then unrestrained, though immediately following this, SCP-4968 attacked and killed all five (5) armed guards tasked with releasing them, shedding the rest of their human skin in the process. They then unexpectedly destroyed the door to their containment chamber, causing a containment breach. Twelve (12) casualties were inflicted before SCP-4968 sustained five (5) gunshot wounds and was rendered incapacitated.
During this period, SCP-4968 was observed to display significantly more physical strength than usual, running at estimated speeds of eighty (80) kilometers per hour and leaping up to estimated heights of ten (10) meters. Once incapacitated, SCP-4968 was placed in a new, more secure cell until the outburst ceased. After three (3) days, they were considered to longer be experiencing an outburst and requested to have their human skin back. The request was granted, and over the course of forty six (46) minutes, they put themself back into the human skin and returned to a normal state. The scar was completely closed and showed no signs of bleeding.
After it was confirmed that the outburst was over, SCP-4968 was returned to their normal containment chamber and a more secure protective wrapping was fastened to them. No such incidents have occurred since.
Item #: SCP-4269
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4269 is to be kept in a standard anomalous items safe at site 19. Once a month, a D-class is to form SCP-4269 into a smaller size. Testing on SCP-4269 is allowed with level 3-4269 clearance.
Description: SCP-4269 is a colorless, textureless mass of an unknown composition. No harmful or otherwise anomalous effects have been observed to occur after making physical contact or interacting with SCP-4269. Further study of the mass's composition is made impossible due to the inability to collect samples from SCP-4269.
SCP-4269 possesses the property of infinite malleability. The mass can be worked, warped, sculpted, and stretched without having any effect on the physical or chemical properties of the mass, and with little to no effort needed in doing so. No creases can be observed in SCP-4269, with the mass instead seamlessly reconnecting with itself. Any form SCP-4269 is made into will hold, as balance permits, and display impeccable structural integrity, even if the form it is in does not appear structurally sound. It seems not to be affected by gravity, despite its malleability. SCP-4269 also has no set mass, as it can grow or shrink as it is worked. It is speculated that it could be shrunk into nothing, though this has not been attempted. It is also believed that SCP-4269 could hypothetically reach an infinite mass. The largest recorded weight of SCP-4269 is ████ kg.
SCP-4268 is extremely resilient. It is not able to be sliced open with any sort of blade or punctured by gunfire. Fire, corrosive agents, or extreme amounts of pressure also have no affect. SCP-4269 will react to any physical attack by simply warping to accommodate the force of the attack without the surface of it being punctured. No part of it is able to be separated, as pulling parts away from the rest of the mass will simply result in it growing in size.
SCP-4269 was recovered from an art studio in ████, █████ in the form of a slightly warped sculpture depicting a woman holding a book. It was believed at first to be made of polished quartz or marble, but after attempts to transport it, its anomalous properties were made evident and foundation staff was notified.
Addendum 4269-a: After extended periods of time of no interaction (about 3-6 weeks), SCP-4269 has been observed to grow in size without being interacted with. This growth is slow, with it only gaining about 500 grams of mass each day, but it could the the cause of complications if left unattended for extended periods of time.
Due to this recent development, use of SCP-4269 as a structural component or for other such practical uses is heavily discouraged and containment protocols have been altered. Object class has been redesignated to euclid.
Item #: SCP-4128
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the biohazard threat SCP-4128 poses, it is currently housed at [containmentsite]. Due to the highly unpredictable and volatile nature of SCP-4128, it is under absolutely no circumstances allowed to be removed from its containment, tested on, or introduced to any foreign objects, especially those which are organic or have anomalous properties (see incident 4128-e). No such objects are to come within an 100 meter radius of SCP-4128 for fear of provoking a violent response.
SCP-4128 is to be held in an isolated 2 x 2 x 3 meter steel reinforced cell and remotely monitored at all times. Outside of the cell, there is to be a similarly fashioned hallway, 1 x 2 meters in size and 100 meters long. Along the hallway, every 10 meters, there is to be a remotely locked cell door. Routine maintenance of all cell doors SCP-4128 is contained with is required, as SCP-4128 has proven itself able to disengage locks over an extended period of time. In the event where one (1) or more doors are destroyed, SCP-4128 is to be forcibly returned to its primary containment cell through the use of strong water currents that are drained through small holes in the floor.
Maintenance and repair is to be performed by a remotely controlled robotic vessel, but in the event where human interaction is required, one (1) to three (3) D-class personnel are to enter the hallway and perform the repair in a time of no more than 20 minutes. If 20 minutes is exceeded, the D-class personnel are to evacuated immediately.
In the event of a containment breach, all engaging personnel are to ensure no skin is exposed on their person in order to prevent physical contact with SCP-4128. Methods of containment that do not involve coming within 10 meters of SCP-4128 are preferable, such as the use of strong water currents to maneuver it.
Description: SCP-4128 is a presumed biological entity naturally appearing as a featureless humanoid, black in hue. It measures an estimated 200 cm in height and weighs an estimated 170 kilograms.
SCP-4128 has the ability to completely chemically deconstruct, destroy, and absorb any and all organic, carbon-based life forms through physical contact. SCP-4128 will immediately react to any organic life in its immediate vicinity by attempting to destroy it, with extreme hostility towards any object, organic or inorganic, that prevents it from doing so. Due to this pattern of behavior, it is not known whether it would be possible for SCP-4128 to voluntarily leave anything it comes into contact with unharmed, if it were in a calmer state. It is also due to this pattern of behavior that SCP-4128 is constantly attempting to escape containment.
The process of absorption SCP-4128 performs does not emanate from a single point, but happens immediately across the entire entity it has come into contact with. The entity this process is being performed on will appear to turn to ash, as if it is burning, and rapidly lose its mass. No trace of anything absorbed by SCP-4128 remains once the process is complete.
Any life absorbed by SCP-4128 will, within an amount of time ranging from 10 seconds to 25 minutes, be manifested as a body part on SCP-4128's person. This effect is limited to human and animal life, and has been observed with many things, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Hair or fur
- Skin
- Insect parts
- Parts of anomalous biological entities (see incident 4128-b)
- Body parts, including internal organs, larger than itself
These new body parts are always identical in shape, size, appearance, and function to the object that was absorbed, with the added function of being able to absorb organic life, and added benefit if being significantly more powerful in whatever function it has. It has not been observed what happens to absorbed internal organs, though it is evident that they manifest internally within SCP-4128. Due to the inability to observe the internal structure of SCP-4128, it is not known how many foreign organs it currently has in its body.
The position of absorbed parts is consistent with the equivalent location on the organism it was absorbed from, unless said location is obstructed by other absorbed body parts. In this case, they will appear on the nearest available location on SCP-4128's person. If no space is available on SCP-4128's person, absorbed body parts are able to manifest on other body parts that were absorbed previously. Due to this property, SCP-4128 can grow massive in size if given enough material (see incident 4128-d).
Any absorbed body parts are able to be removed from SCP-4128 through conventional means. SCP-4128 has also been observed removing body parts from its own person by force (see incident 4128-a) if they become too damaged to be utilized. It will not absorb limbs severed from itself, instead ignoring them entirely. SCP-4128's natural body, however, cannot be destroyed, as it possesses staggering regenerative abilities and will repair any damage to its person within 10 seconds to 25 minutes, depending on the amount of damage. Further study of this process reveals it to occur in a manner identical to the process of the manifestation of new limbs.
SCP-4128 is thought to be at least somewhat intelligent and self aware, despite being incapable of speech. It has been observed to be rather observant in more natural states and able to evade conventional containment methods (see incident 4128-c). When given means of speech, it has been observed to speak, though rather unintelligibly (see test 4128-u).
Addendum 4128-1: Following is a testing log of experiments on the absorption and manifestation abilities of SCP-4128. All items were dispensed via a chute into experiment cell. Following each test, gained anatomy is subsequently removed via a remotely controlled lazer.
Date: 6-17-2014
Item given: One (1) deceased goat
Results: SCP-4128 immediately absorbed the entire goat. in five (5) minutes parts of its skin including the back, legs, and chest were covered in fur, two (2) goat horns were visible on head, and goat legs appeared on shoulders and hips.
Date: 6-17-2014
Item given: One (1) right human arm
Results: The arm was absorbed. In two (2) minutes, it manifested beneath SCP-4128's right arm.
Date: 6-17-2014
Item given: Two (2) right human arms
Results: Both arms were absorbed. In three (3) minutes, both manifested beneath right arm, one in front of the other.
Notes: Interesting. Let's see how far we can take this. -Dr. G██████
Date: 6-17-2014
Item given: Twenty (20) right human arms
Results: All arms were absorbed in thirty (30) seconds. In sixteen (16) minutes, all arms manifested, appearing on the right side of the body around, under, and on the right arm.
Notes: Dammit, G. Stop wasting human parts. In case it didn't occur to you, we don't neccesarily have an excess of human bodies. Use something else. -Dr. ████
Date: 6-21-2014
Item given: Thirty (30) crab legs
Results: all legs absorbed, in three (3) minutes, all manifested along the sides of the torso, under the arms.
Notes: I'm not going to remove the limbs this time. Let's see how far this will go.
Date: 6-21-2014
Item given: Three hundred (300) crab legs
Results: All legs absorbed in twenty (20) seconds. In nineteen (19) minutes, all manifested, on torso, arms, legs, neck and head. All legs manifested near the sides of SCP-4128's body.
Notes: Shoot, out of crab legs. Still not removing them. I'll get more.
Date: 6-27-2014
Item given: one (1) left cow foreleg
Results: The leg manifested in one (1) minute on the chest, nearer to the left side.
Notes: just testing the waters. Not removing it.
Date: 6-27-2014
Item given: Twenty three (23) cow legs
Results: All legs were absorbed in one (1) minute. All legs manifested in twenty five (25) minutes. At this point, SCP-4128 was completely covered in absorbed body parts. Some cow legs were observed to manifest on other cow legs or on groups of crab legs.
Notes: Yes! I thought this would happen. Grown limbs can harbor other limbs! I wonder how far this could go. I'd like to see, but I'm fresh out of parts. I'll have them all removed for now.
Date: 8-04-2014
Item given: (insert anomalous item here)
Results: See incident 4128-b
Notes: We took care of it, so keep your mouths shut, all of you. No more anomalous testing, for now. The 05s don't need to hear about this. It's under control.
Date: 11-16-2014
Item given: Human mouth, lips, throat, larynx, vocal chords, and lungs
**Results:"* Five (5) minutes after absorption, an orifice resembling a human mouth appeared on SCP-4128's face. Three (3) minutes later, it began vocalizing incomprehensibly at a low volume. Nine (9) minutes later, it began wailing loudly, producing sounds around 110 decibels, much louder than the absorbed vocal cords should be able to. Seventeen (17) minutes later, it began enunciating basic English, though at the same volume and in ways difficult to understand. The following phrases were heard over the next twenty seven (27) minutes:
- "Earths calling in twelve"
- "Days end in days out there will be"
- "Three to me three to be whatever I want to wish to be"
- "Dying in the end"
- "I'm am a the valedictorian"
After twenty seven (27) minutes SCP-4128 proceeded to tear all aforementioned organs out of its body through its throat. The damage suffered from doing so was healed completely in thirty (30) seconds. Upon further investigation, it was seen that the extracted vocal chords were severely torn and bleeding, most likely from the stress of producing such intense vocalizations.
Notes: I like that name. Better than "Body Thief."
Date: 5-6-2015
Item given: See lists 4128-a through 4128-d
Results: See incident 4128-d
Notes: investigations into the complications that led to incident 4128-d have been inconclusive. Dr. G██████ insists it was a technical error that has been resolved. Nothing has been confirmed nor denied.
Date: █-█-████
Item given: [REDACTED]
Results: See incident 4128-e
Notes: That's it. I've turned a blind eye to this for too long. No more testing on SCP-4128. Put it in a box and keep it there. We've seen all we needed to. Testing should help contain, above all else. Not cause this. We can't let our curiosity get the better of us. That's how containment breaches happen. That's how people die. -05-██
Addendum 4128-2: Incident log
Incident 4128-a: Due to its containment area being poorly staffed, SCP-4128 escaped its containment chamber during an experiment, with the following extra limbs attached to its body:
- 1 left back horse leg
- 1 right back horse leg
- 10 cockroaches, body parts of which in unknown whereabouts on the body
- 1 pair of pigeon wings
- 1 right human arm
- 1 left human arm
Four (4) casualties were inflicted in the six (6) minutes following the breach. The following body parts were absorbed:
- 2 complete human bodies
- 1 left human arm
- 2 rats
- 1 left human leg
- 1 right human leg
After six (6) minutes, containment teams arrived, and SCP-4128 was met with heavy gunfire. Most absorbed body parts were damaged, some to the point of complete loss of all functionality. SCP-4128 stopped attacking personnel and instead began inflicting huge amounts of damage to itself, tearing off extra limbs and digging into its body to tear out organs. While in this state, containment teams were able to restrain it long enough to reestablish containment.
Incident 4128-b:(insert incident here)
Incident 4128-c: While being transported from an experiment chamber to its primary containment chamber via temporary containment cell, SCP-4128, unbeknownst to foundation personnel, weakened the lock on the cell door enough for it to escape. Three (3) casualties of staff tasked with transporting SCP-4128 were inflicted before it sustained heavy gunfire and began harming itself, mutilating its innards and tearing out organs. It was promptly contained.
Investigations later revealed that SCP-4128 had been working away at the lock on the temporary containment cell for some time. Action is now being taken to maintain all cells SCP-4128 is contained in and monitor them for signs of damage.
Incident 4128-d: See test 4128-y. SCP-4128 had absorbed many body parts and had become much more massive than its natural body, taking up approximately 70% of the volume of the experiment chamber and weighing an estimated ████ kilograms.
Action was about to be taken to remove all extra limbs via remotely controlled lazer, but due to unknown complications in experiment control, this was not performed. Instead, the door of the experiment chamber was destroyed and the experiment cell began sustaining heavy damage, with many of the steel walls and floors becoming warped under the force of SCP-4128's mass. Fortunately, SCP-4128 was not able to escape the experiment cell due to its size. However, containment teams were unsure of how to properly establish containment from that point.
Twenty three (23) minutes after the door to the experiment chamber was destroyed, containment teams opted to have thirty (30) armed guards stand outside of the experiment chamber, ready to recapture SCP-4128, while all extra limbs were removed. However, due to aforementioned complications in experiment control, this was not performed until ten (10) minutes after containment teams intended.
Seventeen (17) minutes after the laser was activated, SCP-4128's natural form emerged from the cell door, though heavily immobilized due to the copious amount of extra limbs attached to it. Armed guards met it with heavy gunfire, at which point, SCP-4128 began tearing off most extra limbs. Before it could return to a natural state and become mobilized again, containment teams were successfully able to restrain it long enough to contain it.
Incident 4128-e: See test 4128-ac. [DATA EXPUNGED]. In this state, SCP-4128 managed to escape the containment facility. 10 members of Task Force █████-█ followed it across [REDACTED] via attack helicopter for forty (40) minutes before it reached a forest near [REDACTED] and began causing massive amounts of destruction to the landscape and plant life.
Task Force █████-█ moved to fire at SCP-4128 with heavy artillery, but were overwritten by an unknown directive. Over the next thirty six (36) minutes, SCP-4128 managed to decimate approximately 1.3 square kilometers of forests. Observers on the task force estimated SCP-4128 to weigh anywhere from 500 to ████ kilograms based on views from the helicopter.
After thirty six (36) minutes elapsed, Task Force █████-█ ignored the override and began firing at SCP-4128. It suffered considerable damage and stopped destroying the surrounding flora to cause damage to itself by whatever means possible. It was observed barging into trees and rolling over on the ground, shedding an estimated 300 kilograms of mass in the process. Task force █████-█ continued firing.
After seven (7) minutes, six (6) agents were deployed to the ground to attempt to restrain SCP-4128. Before they could approach it, however, SCP-4128 unexpectedly leaped an estimated thirty (30) meters in the air and landed on Task Force █████-█'s attack helicopter. It fell to the ground; five (5) of the ten (10) task force members were killed in the resulting crash, including all four (4) on the helicopter and one (1) on the ground. SCP-4128 was observed to absorb at least three of the deceased task force members before proceeding to destroy the surrounding forests.
At this point, backup had been requested and local containment teams had been deployed. After forty seven (47) minutes, the task force arrived and successfully incapacitated, restrained, and contained SCP-4128, with three (3) casualties caused in the process. After all excess limbs were removed, all were collected to be destroyed, but the [REDACTED] was never recovered.
The remaining members of the team from Task Force █████-█ have since been terminated for failing to follow directives. Following is a post interview regarding the incident between Dr. ████ and Dr. G██████.
Interviewer: Dr. ████
Interviewed: Dr. G██████
Date: █-█-████
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. ████: Dr. G██████, we have a few questions for you about the recent incident, caused after test 4128-ac.
Dr. G██████: You're awfully formal today, ███. Why such a serious face?
Dr. ████: Not now, Dr. G██████. You do realize how many casualties happened because of this, right?
Dr. G: You are correct. My apologies, Doctor. Please, ask away.
Dr. ████: First of all… You appear to have a bit of a history, Dr. G██████. Not just with SCP-4128, but SCP-████, and a few others as well.
Dr. G: Well, I pride myself in my extensive research endeavors, you know.
Dr. ████: Yes, of course, but… It's not necessarily a clean history. You've had numerous experiments shut down by 05 directive, you've proposed more rejected experiments than 96% of researchers at the foundation, and the number of casualties caused by the experiments you headed for SCP-4128 alone is estimated to be at least thirty.
Dr. G: You don't need to throw facts about myself at me. I'm flattered, believe me, but trust me, I am well aware.
Dr. ████: Well, good. Then you'll understand why we are accusing you of the following offenses: fabricating experiment logs, fabricating material exchange records, bribery, reckless endangerment, f-
Dr. G: Oh please. The 05s will take anything you do the wrong way, won't they? If only more than half of the foundation wasn't so crazy on the 'contain' aspect they wou-
Dr. ████: Investigations also lead us to believe, Dr. G██████, that you faked an 05 directive to prevent Task Force █████-█ from containing SCP-4128.
Dr. G: (Pause) I had to, ███. As soon as they locked that thing up again, I knew that it was never getting out. The foundation didn't care how many questions we still had. If they took him, right then and there, I couldn't have seen what that marvelous thing could really do. I very well knew it was dangerous! I'm not stupid. That's why I told the task force to stay away, so that they'd be safe. But you see what happens, when they didn't listen? Now Task Force █████-█ is gone.
Dr. ████: G, are you really saying that you let that thing get so close to a major population center just to "see what it can do?"
Dr. G: I know, it's not ideal. I didn't mean for it to escape in the first place, when I gave it the [REDACTED]. But I had a choice to make, when it escaped. If only the foundation would support my research in the first place, and give me some decent facilities to work with, I wouldn't have to hide any of it at all, and 4128 wouldn't have escaped. It's like I tried to tell them, with 049. Let it to its work, see what it does. It offers so much knowledge, but no, they close it up, lock it away, don't let any of these anomalies show us what they can do for the sake of "safety." I swear, ███. The foundation is going to regret not learning from these things when they had the chance.
Dr. ████ then left the room with not further comment.
[END LOG]
Dr. G██████ has since been terminated.
Item #: SCP-4127
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4127-2 is to be kept in a standard anomalous items safe. No personnel are allowed to remove SCP-4127-2 from its safe without at least level 4127-3 clearance. No personnel are allowed to play SCP-4127-2 and listen to SCP-4127 unless instructed by someone with level 4127-3 clearance or higher.
Instances of SCP-4127-1 are to be kept in standard humanoid containment cells at site 19. They are to receive regular appointments with a therapist specializing in dealings with major depression and suicidal tendencies and are to be kept on intensive suicide watch.
Description: SCP-4127 is a short song in the key of F major. The melody's only known source is from a music box, designated SCP-4127-2. SCP-4127-2 yields no anomalous properties and is 5 x 5 x 7 cm in size. A composer of the melody or manufacturer of the music box have not been identified.
SCP-4127's anomalous effects appear when the entire melody is sung or played on an instrument with complete accuracy. playing only a part of SCP-4127 or playing any notes or rhythms inaccurately does not yield these results. Any individual producing the harmonies present in SCP-4127 along with an individual producing the melody also experiences these effects, but not if the harmony is played on it's own. If the harmony is performed inaccurately or incompletely the performing individual will not experience its effects, but the performer of the melody is still able to. If the performer of the melody performs it inaccurately no individual experiences the effects.
The performing individual or individuals, now designated an instance of SCP-4127-1, immediately and completely lose the ability to recognize, register, or produce any sort of music, rhythm, or melodies. Any normal psychological effects associated with music completely cease. Music becomes indistinguishable from any sound that could not be considered music and any and all musical aptitude the individual hand beforehand is lost. SCP-4127-1 instances do not recognize music upon hearing it, instead regarding it as obnoxious nonsensical noise, and are not initially aware of their condition.
Over an extended period of time, a similar effect will begin to extend to other forms of external stimuli, significantly altering an individual’s psychology. This will affect how an individual perceives not only music, but art, design, media, literature, fashion, poetry, and anything involving any form of abstract conceptual thought to process. The next stage of SCP-4127’s effects causes the emotional presence of affected individual to gradually deteriorate and diminish until they are entirely incapable of experiencing human emotions.
The final observed stage of SCP-4127’s effects involves vivid visual and auditory hallucinations. Approximately 90% of instances who experience the effects for 5 months experience this effect. All instances experience this by 8 months. Reports of hallucinations often depict a floating entity, described as a ‘ghost’ by many instances. This entity is reported to speak with instances, encouraging them to get others to perform SCP-4127. Due to the consistency of these reports, this entity has been designated SCP-4127-3.
As of 3-8-19, there are twenty one (21) recorded instances of SCP-4127-2, designated SCP-4127-1-1 through SCP-4127-1-21. Seventeen (17) of these instances are D-Class personnel who have been exposed to its effects for testing purposes. The remaining three (3) were recovered from their home in █████████ on 4-21-2005.

Addendum 4127-1: Interview
Date: 4-23-2005
Interviewer: Dr. G██████
Interviewed: C████ ███████
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. G: Hello, Mrs. ███████. We have a few questions for you. We believe that you may be experiencing the effects of an anomalous entity.
C: [Pause] Do you mean the music thing?
Dr. G: Yes. The sudden onset and lack of scientific explanation leads us to believe that it is of an anomalous origin.
C: What? What caused it, exactly? Can you cure us?
Dr. G: We don’t know yet. We’ll investigate further. We’ll start by asking if you’d noticed anything else unusual, or if anything’s happened recently.
C: No, nothing else weird. But has anything happened? Our mother passed away, not long ago.
Dr. G: Are you sure she did? You don’t seem very torn about it.
C: I don’t know. I’m not sad about it anymore. I’m not elated or anything, but I don’t want to be sad, and I’m not, for some reason, so I’m content.
Dr. G: [Taking notes] Ok. [Pause] Anything peculiar about your mother? Anything music related?
C: She liked to sing, I guess. She wasn’t particularly good at it but she thought it was fun. We would sing with her sometimes. No one in our family is very talented musically. [Pause] She also owned a music box that was her mother’s, or something. What else…
Dr. G: That’s enough, for now. Thank you. We’ll get back to you.

Following this interview, The home of SCP-4127-1-1 through SCP-4127-1-3 was searched. The music box in question was found. Testing revealed its anomalous effects and it achieved SCP classification soon after.
Addendum 4127-2: Following is a transcript of an interview with an instance of 4127-1, three (3) months after being affected by SCP-4127. Subject had reacted extremely negatively to the effects.
Date: 9-16-2005
Interviewer: Dr. G██████
Interviewed: SCP-4127-1-9
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. G: 4127-1-9, hello. [Pause] You’ve had a few complications recently, yes?
SCP-4127-1-9: Yes.
Dr. G: Would you mind telling me what you’re feeling?
SCP-4127-1-9: Not much of anything, really, since you sick fucks did this to me.
Dr. G: We understand that, I was alluding more to what your thought process was.
SCP-4127-1-9 does not speak for several seconds, and leans forward, putting their face in their hands.
SCP-4127-1-9: I couldn’t possibly expect you to understand. This is the most damning thing. Can you even comprehend what it’s like?
Dr. G: We are trying to make sense of the symptoms through testing and observation. W-
SCP-4127-1-9: [Interrupting] So what? Are you going to infect more people with this when you don’t even have a cure?
Dr. G: We’d prefer to keep the number of instances to a minimum.
SCP-4127-1-9: We’ll see how that works out for you.
Dr. G: We’ll see. Now, would you mind telling us why you tried to hurt yourself?
SCP-4127-1-9: You’d do it too.
Dr. G: What do you mean by that?
SCP-4127-1-9: I’m not at fault here. Anyone would do it. It hurts but I don’t feel the pain like I should. I want to feel something.
Dr. G: No one is faulting you. We understand entirely.
SCP-4127-1-9: Stop saying that. Until you sing that song like you made me you can’t say that.
Dr. G: Are you referring to SCP-4127?
SCP-4127-1-9: Whatever it’s called. Look, you want to know why I’m hurting myself? I’m not a person anymore. I’m not human. I’m not living. That song killed me. I mean killed me. I was so confused at first, but as time wore on, I began to realize what was happening to me- what you did to me. Now I know, I’m dead, but by some curse of that song I’ve been left here. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. My life is over, I just want to die already. Am I supposed to look back on my life?
SCP-4127-1-9 covers their face with their hands.
SCP-4127-1-9: Why won’t I die? I want to die. Just let me die already…
SCP-4127-1-9 begins speaking inaudibly.
Dr. G: [Pause] Thank you. That’ll be all.
[END LOG]
Two (2) months following this interview, SCP-4127-1-9 was found dead in their holding cell, having committed suicide via electrocution by dismantling the wiring in the ceiling light.
After reviewing their file, it was noted that SCP-4127-1-9 had a history of major depression and generalized anxiety. Reviews of medical history are now required before testing SCP-4127 on D-class personnel.
Addendum 4127-3: On 7-6-2008, SCP-4127-2 was found absent from its storage locker. This was considered a containment breach and containment teams were dispatched to search for the lost item. On 7-10-2008, it was found in the possession of Dr. G██████. After being taken in for questioning, it was discovered that Dr. G██████ had become an instance of SCP-4127-1. He was then designated SCP-4127-1-21.

Interviewer: Dr. George
Interviewed: SCP-4127-1-21 (Dr. G██████)
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. George: Good morning. I’m sure you’re aware of your circumstances, SCP-4127-1-21?
SCP-4127-1-21: Yes. Yes I am.
Dr. George: Let me review for you. You’re being demoted from head researcher for SCP-4127 for breaking containment protocols. We were going to terminate you, but considering you’re now an instance of SCP-4127-1, You’ll be kept here under the pretense that you’re still a researcher. You no lon-
SCP-4127-1-21: [Interrupting] Wait, doctor. Is there music playing?
Dr. George: What? No.
SCP-4127-1-21: [Laughing] Sorry. I’m just very eager to see what this is like.
Dr. George: I was going to get into that later. That’s a first though. You’re awfully excited to have been affected by a debilitating anomaly.
SCP-4127-1-21: Losing my air of professionalism, aren’t I? Acting like an excited child. I suppose it doesn’t matter. It’s not like I have any reason not to anymore.
Dr. George: [Pauses, rubs eyes] I always knew you were a weird one, but I never thought you were crazy. Why’d you do it, G? Why on earth did you do it?
SCP-4127-1-21: Oh, am I glad you asked. You are aware I’ve been researching SCP-4127 for the past few years, yes?
Dr. George: I was there the whole time.
SCP-4127-1-21: I’ve been trying to get into the heads of these people who we basically killed, but I could never truly comprehend it. No matter how well they described it. I always tried not to show it in interviews, but what the instances said, this whole thing, it keeps me up at night. It’s terrifying. It was like standing on the edge of an abyss, staring into it. And all the while we were throwing people into the abyss just to see what would happen.
Dr. George: G, you’re not making sense. Abyss?
SCP-4127-1-21: [Laughing] Sorry, sometimes I use metaphors too much. I think I played SCP-4127 because I was scared of not knowing it completely. And maybe I thought I deserved it, after what we did to all those people. I jumped in the abyss.
Dr. George: [Pause] Now what?
SCP-4127-1-21: Now I’ll know.
Dr. George: You’re insane. Good luck with that, anyways. We’ll see how you’re doing in a bit.
[END LOG]
Addendum 4127-4: SCP-4127-1-21 displayed an unusually absent reaction to SCP-4127. After three (3) months, no suicide attempts were made and attempts at self harm were minimal. Depression was present yet manageable.
Date: 3-12-2009
Interviewer: Dr. George
Interviewed: SCP-4127-1-21
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. George: Good morning, 4127-1-21.
SCP-4127-1-21: Morning.
Dr. George: We have a few questions for you, pertaining to your condition. You have been faring decently, we understand.
SCP-4127-1-21: Yes.
Dr. George:Have you encountered SCP-4127-3 yet?
SCP-4127-1-21: Yes.
Dr. George: How would you describe those encounters?
SCP-4127-1-21: …novel.
Dr. George: Care to elaborate?
SCP-4127-1-21: Not particularly, no.
Dr. George: [Pause] You’re not helping the research, you know. You have to work with us.
SCP-4127-1-21: I’m just thinking, is all.
Dr. George: Care to share?
SCP-4127-1-21: You know, the patients did a very bad job of describing this.
Dr. George: How so?
SCP-4127-1-21: And I understand that I’m having an unnaturally positive reaction. But it’s the same sensation, right? And I’m pretty sure I felt the same way they did. I wanted to die. I hurt myself. It was the same. The only thing that kept me going for as long as I did was me wanting to meet the ghost. This isn’t at all what I imagined, based on what they said.
Dr. George: Are you referring to SCP-4127-3?
SCP-4127-1-21: Yes, yes.
Dr. George: But you’ve met it already. What now?
SCP-4127-1-21: Now, I’ve come to discover that the ghost has quite a lot to say. Subjects were never clear when talking about what the ghost said, but now I get to hear it myself. They speak to me a lot.
Dr. George: What do they say?
SCP-4127-1-21: So much. I’m sorry, I’m having a hard time categorizing the information. I think they said that they like me a lot. Something about telling others to listen to the music box. Getting others to sing along.
Dr. George: Anything else? Take your time, of course, we understand.
SCP-4127-1-21: Of course you do. [Pause] They said that I’m blessed.
Dr. George: What? Could you elaborate?
SCP-4127-1-21: They explained it by telling me a story about themself. I can’t remember it for the life of me, though. I do remember that it didn’t end.
Dr. George: That’s peculiar. We’ve not heard reports of SCP-4127-3 speaking to this extent. We-
SCP-4127-1-21: [Interrupting] Quiet! They’re here. They’re speaking to me.
Dr. George: What are they saying?
No one speaks for 26 seconds.
SCP-4127-1-21: “This is my gift. A song is embedded in you when sung. It is there when you don’t know it. It is a part of you. This is my gift. I give this gift to all of you. It is a key. This gift is a key. The lock is on your cage. Your cage is yours. My key is lost. Your key is not lost. You use the key. So may you all.”
Dr. George: Is this what the ghost - SCP-4127-3 - says to you?
SCP-4127-1-21: Yes, but they’re not making any sense. There are no keys, or cages, or locks, or gifts. I think they’re mad.
Dr. George: I believe the ghost is speaking in metaphor, G.
SCP-4127-1-21: I don’t understand. I want to, but I don’t.
No one speaks for 10 seconds.
Dr. George: Are you in pain?
SCP-4127-1-21: No, no. I don’t feel anything, actually. I’m content.
Dr. George: You understand that’s rather extraordinary, correct?
SCP-4127-1-21: I don’t know what to make of this.
Dr. George: In that case, that’ll be all, for now. We’ll return you to your cell.
Dr. George stands up.
SCP-4127-1-21: Wait, doctor.
Dr. George seats himself.
SCP-4127-1-21: I’m sorry, my thought process is very slow. I’ve been thinking about what the ghost has been telling me. It’s hard, without any way to feel about the information… [Pause] But I think I’ve finally been able to come to the conclusion that the ghost is right.
Dr. George: Right about what?
SCP-4127-1-21: Right about the blessing. Maybe if I get through this rough patch, I’ll…
Dr. George: Yes?
SCP-4127-1-21: I don’t know. I lost my train of thought.
Dr. George: In that case, that will be all, for now. We’ll get back to you.
SCP-4127-1-21: Okay. [Pause] Okay. Yeah. In the meantime, I’ll… sit tight.
Dr. George: Do you have anything else to add, Dr. G██████?
SCP-4127-1-21: No, No. I don’t.
Dr. George: [Pause] Alright, then.
