Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All civilian maritime traffic must be redirected away from SCP-XXXX as to maintain an exclusion zone, designated Zone-Δ, around SCP-XXXX. Two (2) Three (3) Nautical Patrol Teams must patrol Zone-Δ at all times. Additional aerial and/or nautical surveillance teams may be deployed to maintain Zone-Δ at the discretion of the 4/XXXX Clearance/Security Director assigned to SCP-XXXX. Entering SCP-XXXX, via any mode of transport that is incapable of counteracting the effects of SCP-XXXX-1-B, is only allowed for testing purposes. A meteorological survey of the areas surrounding SCP-XXXX must be conducted on a bi-weekly basis in order to reevaluate the perimeters of Zone-Δ. Any significant changes in the weather conditions that may complicate maintenance of Zone-Δ should be reported to the supervising 4/XXXX Clearance/Security Director.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an area in the Atlantic Ocean, currently covering 544 572 716 km2 of the ocean surface. Cloud formation is observed to occur at an abnormally increased rate within SCP-XXXX. This property and the manifestations of SCP-XXXX-11 are the only known distinguishable features of SCP-XXXX relative to adjacent areas of the Atlantic Ocean.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a single marine vessel measuring 31 m in length and 6 m in width. SCP-XXXX-1 closely resembles FV The Rebecca2 in appearance; however SCP-XXXX-1 is missing the imprint of "The Rebecca" on its stern. The signs of degradation on the exterior of SCP-XXXX-1 is consistent with long-term exposure to salt water. SCP-XXXX-1 only manifests within SCP-XXXX and while not inside the field of view of any person. After an unspecified amount of time, SCP-XXXX-1 will submerge. SCP-XXXX-1 begins to dematerialize once fully submerged.

Any individual that makes visual contact with SCP-XXXX-1 (henceforth designated the Target) will perceive between 1-123 distinct human figures (collectively referred to as SCP-XXXX-1-A) onboard SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1-A will convey distress towards the Target through auditory communication and body gestures. The Target is not compelled to assist SCP-XXXX-1-A through any anomalous compulsion.4 SCP-XXXX-1-A have not exhibited any changes in this behaviour, even when the Target is affected by the properties of SCP-XXXX-1-B. All attempts to interact and communicate with SCP-XXXX-1-A have been unsuccessful.

SCP-XXXX-1-B is the designation for liquid salt water within a 311 m horizontal radius of SCP-XXXX-1. The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX-1-B manifest when it makes physical contact with any individual or any vessel manned by at least one (1) individual. Upon contact, the density of SCP-XXXX-1-B gradually lowers at an inconsistent rate. In all observed cases, this has led to the submersion of the subject due to the decrease in buoyancy. However the effects of SCP-XXXX-1-B begin to decrease after the subject has been submerged to a depth of approximately 300 m below the surface. Subjects show an increased rate of successfully reaching the surface5 if SCP-XXXX-1 has dematerialized and the subject has not been caught by an instance of SCP-XXXX-1-C. Further research is pending in regards to locating the remains of casualties related to contact with SCP-XXXX-1-B and -1-C.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1-C resemble inverted fish hooks consisting of an unknown white material, reported to be 48±5 cm in length at the shank. The eye of a SCP-XXXX-1-C is connected to a 2 cm thick black coil leading towards the seabed. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1-C have thus far been unable to be removed after piercing human skin tissue. SCP-XXXX-1-C have only been reported in the presence of the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX-1-B and (like SCP-XXXX-1-B) dematerialize, along with any "caught" individual, a few minutes after the dematerialization of SCP-XXXX-1.
