About Me: A couple of years ago when I was probably too young to be on this site, I tried making an account and writing SCP documents. Needless to say, they sucked, and I ended up quitting before I could ever really find a foothold on the ideas of this wiki. That old account has since fallen into nonexistence, which I believe is for the best.
But it's been a while, and I think I've progressed enough as a serious writer to give this thing another shot. I'm more aware of what tends to get a work down-voted, and I'm prepared to at least give a novel effort to write some actual, quality SCP articles. I'm more willing than ever to adapt from my mistakes and make something grand. So, don't hold back any criticism you might have. I absolutely want to hear how I could improve my writing further. That's the only way we get better, right?

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained outdoors by Site-[number]. It is to be activated weekly to minimize the risk of [event designation]. Following activation, the surrounding area must be cleaned thoroughly of any substances produced by the item. If any foreign entities are ejected by SCP-XXXX, they must be terminated as quickly as possible.
If SCP-XXXX is damaged by [event designation] and becomes unable to function, site mechanics are to repair the item immediately. In the event SCP-XXXX becomes too damaged to be repaired during [event designation], high-powered explosions are to be dropped down the object's shaft until all seismic activity ceases. SCP-XXXX must then be restored to its original form before the next routine activation.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an oil rig located in [location]. It is [height] meters tall and composed of [materials]. These materials do not appear to possess anomalous qualities on their own.
Whenever the item is activated, SCP-XXXX's drill descends its shaft until an estimated depth of 400 meters underground. Upon reaching this depth, a viscous, dark-red fluid will emerge and travel up SCP-XXXX until it is ejected from the top of the structure. Following the release of this fluid is a period of minor seismic activity, with the average measure rating a 2.6 earthquake on the Richter scale. Analysis indicates that the substance released by SCP-XXXX during this event is blood; however, this blood doesn't match that of any known organism.
When SCP-XXXX goes an extended period of time without manual activation, the area surrounding it begins to experience minor, yet constant earthquakes. These earthquakes seem to occur rhythmically, with a rough period of five (5) minutes between tremors. The longer SCP-XXXX remains inactive, the more intense these earthquakes become; SCP-XXXX itself has occasionally sustained damage from these events.

Special Containment Procedures: Wild populations of SCP-XXXX are currently confined to Australia. SCP-XXXX instances found outside of captivity in any other continent are to be terminated before they are allowed to breed.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the species Dromaius novaehollandiae, commonly known as the emu. It is a large, brown, flightless avian capable of running up to fifty (50) kilometers per hour. SCP-XXXX is not known to be intelligent.
All living instances of SCP-XXXX share the species' anomalous effects. Every individual projects an aura, approx. four (4) kilometers in radius, only ceasing once the animal is dead. All non-human animals within this distance are subject to continuous mutation. The intensity of these mutations increase with proximity and the number of emus present.
Known effects of SCP-XXXX on non-anomalous organisms include:
- Heightened awareness
- Increased muscle strength
- Sharper fangs and claws
- Development of venom
- Resistance to physical trauma
- Aggression towards humans
SCP-XXXX directly influences the gene structure of animals it affects, allowing these alterations to be passed onto offspring.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a floating, red tower approx. twelve (12) meters in height. SCP-XXXX randomly manifests over the bodies of individuals who suffer violent deaths, although no other correlation is known as to how it appears. However, SCP-XXXX appears to be more likely to appear in areas that experience few violent deaths such as suburbs or farmland. SCP-XXXX has only been known to manifest one specimen at any given time.
When a human being of any demographic is killed in a violent manner, SCP-XXXX may appear in the air above the corpse. SCP-XXXX causes powerful hallucinations in any living being within twenty-five (25) meters of its location, as well as viewers from any distance who observe the object directly. SCP-XXXX's effects do not manifest when monitored through indirect means such as camera.
The hallucinations created by SCP-XXXX are generally consistent, with the same effects being reported after repeated exposure. Those under effect of SCP-XXXX perceive the land as twisted and red, and the sky as purple. While experiencing these hallucinations, victims are only capable of perceiving others within them.
SCP-XXXX disappears if the host body that it appears over is buried or incinerated. Attacking the tower directly weakens the radius of effect, but only disposing of the body can completely disable SCP-XXXX.
