Special Containment Procedures: Embedded Foundation personnel are to redirect any spacecraft away from SCP-XXXX's current orbital position. Following the events of 12/7/2012¹ SCP-XXXX's anomalous orbit results in contact with direct sunlight once every 7 months. A dynamic calendar aboard Orbital Station Site ██ (OSS-██) displays the current predicted month, day and time of contact. Upon confirmation of contact and a Bridge Event² OSS-██ staff will initiate Procedure XXXX-Michelangelo.

A minimum of 3 D-Class personnel with basic EVA training are to board OSS-██'s Orbital Reconnaissance vehicle (ORv) equipped with proper drilling equipment and rations for 7 days of continuous operation. These personnel are to be informed that SCP-XXXX-1 entities are docile and will not respond to drill operation. Upon confirmed arrival of the ORv at the bridge location, personnel will begin 8 hour drilling shifts, ensuring that the height of the bridge structure does not exceed 100 kilometers. In the case of an overly active Bridge Event backup personnel may be deployed at the discretion of OSS-██'s Orbital Site Director.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 20 x 10 x 10m hexagonal bipyramid³ structure orbiting Earth at a height of 170 kilometers. The object is anomalously durable and there have been no successful attempts at causing structural damage. There is an opening on the underside of the object approximately 8 meters wide leading to a spatial anomaly designated SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-A contains a single solar system, designated SCP-XXXX-B. All known methods have failed to detect matter or energy outside of SCP-XXXX-B, including imaging on all wavelengths of light, gravitational wave detection and radio wave detection.

All objects within SCP-XXXX-B are identical to our solar system's counterparts except Earth. There is a planet geographically identical to our Earth, designated SCP-XXXX-C, however SCP-XXXX-C contains no detectable surface water or plant life, although the topographical features consistent with oceans, lakes, rivers, and other surface water features are present.

SCP-XXXX-C contains a number of entities collectively designated SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are humanoid entities with four appendages each ending in a sharpened point⁴. The only distinctive facial features present on SCP-XXXX-1 instances are organs containing internal structures analogous to human eyes but lacking pupils or any means for light to pass through to the retina. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are docile and have never been documented to attack living subjects. Current testing has deemed SCP-XXXX-1 instances incapable of communication. Under continuous exposure⁵ to direct sunlight SCP-XXXX-1 instances solidify into a stone material similar to SCP-XXXX, however heavy drill machinery can damage solidified SCP-XXXX-1 instances. Contact with direct sunlight outside of Bridge Events⁶ does not result in solidification.

SCP-XXXX-C contains structures associated with advanced civilization development, including agricultural facilities, cities with detailed layouts to facilitate trade infrastructure, and pyramids comparable in size to the Great Pyramid of Giza. These pyramids contain internal structures with the capacity to collect and store solar energy⁷ using advanced methods first documented in 18██. Satellite imagery of SCP-XXXX-C located a structure significantly larger than all other known structures on SCP-XXXX-C, in the ███████ Peninsula, covering an area of approximately 6500 km². The discovery of this structure prompted exploration of SCP-XXXX-C's surface.

Exploration of the surface of SCP-XXXX-C commenced in 1988 and ended in 2012. On 12/7/2012 SCP-XXXX manifested new anomalous properties in response to a team exploring the ███████ Peninsula structure prompting updated containment procedures, Addendum-XXXX-1, and the creation of Procedure-XXXX-Michelangelo. Exploration team is on OSS-██ preparing to board the landing vehicle.

J-11: All right listen up team. I know the dash-ones aren't hostile, but stay behind me when we get down there. We can't afford to lose time to a medevac. How we looking on supplies Taylor?

Dr. Taylor: Just finished the last equipment check, everything's here.

Dr. Hinshaw: Do we have comms?

Dr. Taylor pulls herself through the dock hatch and logs in to the landing vehicle's computer console.

Dr. Taylor: Comms check, Orbital do you read us?

Orbital Control: Roger Columbus, we have audio and video. You are go for detach procedure.

J-11: You heard them team, board up.

Vehicle reaches final descent altitude and begins landing procedure. Landing procedure is nominal.

Dr. Hinshaw: Orbital, this is Columbus reporting, we have landed, requesting GO Link⁸ stability test.

Orbital Control: Columbus this is orbital, we read you loud and clear, GO Link status nominal. You are cleared for vehicle exit.

Dr. Hinshaw: Copy Orbital.

J-11: Clock's ticking team, let's get a move on.

Expedition team leaves the vehicle. Approximately 1 and a half hours of uneventful travel omitted.

Dr. Scott halts and turns towards the cave entrance.

Dr. Scott: Hold up guys.

The rest of the team stops and turns towards Dr. Scott.

J-11: What's wrong Scott?

Dr. Scott: Did you guys hear that?

Dr. Taylor: I didn't hear anyth-

Dr. Taylor is presumably interrupted by an unknown sound originating from the cave.

J-11 steps in between the rest of the team and the cave and draws his service weapon.

J-11: Identify yourself!

Video cuts out after J-11's order, and reappears approximately 2.5 minutes later, with the team moving at a fast pace towards the mission destination for the next two hours. Dr. Hinshaw unsuccessfully attempts to contact OSS-██ immediately after the incident. J-11 keeps his service weapon drawn for the remainder of the mission. In a later interview Dr. Taylor confirmed that J-11 received no response from the origin of the sound, and after waiting for a response to no avail the team left the area. The location has since been examined, with no discoveries of note. The sounds heard by the Columbus team did not appear on any recordings, and the origin is still unknown.

J-11: Hinshaw, try Orbital again.

Dr. Hinshaw: I've tried every 15 minutes for the past two hours. The satellite is probably out of range.

Dr. Taylor: We can't rule out the possibility that ██'s comms are down. If we don't get a signal by the time we reach the structure we should head back.

Dr. Hinshaw: It's probably nothing serious, if we abandon the mission the Director's not gonna be happy. We'd be wasting the site's whole exploration budget.

Dr. Scott: I could care less about the site budget, we're on an anomalous planet with no comms and limited supplies. I second heading back.

Dr. Hinshaw stops for a moment in thought.

Dr. Hinshaw: Jacob, I'll leave the decision to you.

Expedition team begins heading towards target destination.

Efforts to translate the stone tablet found within the housing structure concluded after approximately 2 hours. Translated material available below:

Dear friend Sisuthros, you must flee [illegible]. The Oracle has spoken, our transgressions have angered the Sun. The Warden has destroyed the [illegible], the army gathers to defend the city. I will join them, for the oracle says that I shall perish beneath the flames. You must go to [illegible] to save yourself and your family while you still can.

The above message had an illegible signature. The message is written in a Cuneiform dialect consistent with other writings found during the exploration of SCP-XXXX-C.

Expedition team is now approximately 2 kilometers away from target structure. Defense Operative J-11 attempts to contact OSS-██ to report status and is unsuccessful.

J-11: I'm not getting any signal from Orbital.

Dr. Hinshaw: Are we out of range?

J-11: We shouldn't be. The signal booster should be reaching us.

Dr. Taylor: Should we turn back?

Dr. Scott: We don't have time, we can't afford to lose an hour.

J-11: It's your call Dr. Hinshaw.

Dr. Hinshaw is silent for a few moments.

Dr. Hinshaw: Jackson's right. We can't afford to lose that much time. We'll continue. If any other equipment stops working we'll abort, until then we can make do without comms.

Dr. Scott: It could be a simple malfunction, I'll take a look at it.

Dr. Scott is unable to find any physical problems with the communications system. Dr. Hinshaw tries and fails to establish radio contact again and chooses to continue the mission.

The expedition team is now approaching the structure. At this point Dr. Hinshaw notes in a digital log that the team has not encountered any SCP-XXXX-1 instances and finds this unusual. Dr. Taylor similarly notes that they had reached the target and encountered no instances, but unlike Dr. Hinshaw expresses concern that the mission may be dangerous to continue.

Dr. Hinshaw looks up at the structure.

Dr. Hinshaw: Goddamn.

J-11: Alright, I'll go in first. Stay close.

The team enters the structure through a large entryway.

//Dr. Hinshaw's head mounted camera gives an almost complete view of the interior of the structure. Large pillars support an overhead canopy approximately 200 meters tall with a central opening near the top of the structure.
