Comatose Cultist

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Mixed

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is determined to be safe and is to remain in an indefinite medically induced coma while being held in the medical facility at Site-67 where it is to remain in an isolated room with no windows and locked doors at all times. When SCP-XXXX-1 is not currently being examined, or if the door to its room is open for any amount of time, the specimen is to be covered completely, preventing any part of its body from being viewable to outsiders. An all-female medical team must be on constant standby in case of an emergency requiring recomatization.

Male staff members are not permitted in the hallway of SCP-XXXX-1's room or in the room itself unless they are actively performing research, or have direct permission from the director of the medical facility. When present in these restricted areas, male staff members must be accompanied at all times by at least two (2) female security guards. If any male is to view any part of SCP-XXXX-1's body, he is to be restrained immediately and transported to the Radio Frequency Isolation Chamber. He is to be held there for no less than thirty (30) minutes until all urges induced by SCP-XXXX-1 have resided.

SCP-XXXX-2 is currently unapprehended by the Foundation. Protocol for its capture, should it be located, is detailed in form ACP-2168-2. Containment procedures for SCP-XXXX-2 are still being determined and likely won't be finalized until it's capture.

Specimens SCP-XXXX-5-1 through -5-284 are all deceased, giving them a neutralized status. The bodies are currently being held in the morgue at Site-67. There so far appears to be no threat posed by the bodies of these specimens, so standard morgue security protocols will apply.

Description: SCP-XXXX is theorized by researchers to be a hivemind entity with an unknown capacity as to the number of hosts it can occupy. It is also unknown if SCP-XXXX is limited to human hosts. There are two known living hosts currently occupied by SCP-XXXX, the first of which is Janet █████, a 37-year-old human female, classified as instance SCP-XXXX-1 who is currently in Foundation captivity in a medically induced coma. The other known host is Brad ██████, a 30-year-old human male, classified as instance SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 is currently unapprehended by the foundation, with a level 4 priority on its capture. All other known hosts of SCP-XXXX are currently deceased and are classified under SCP-XXXX-5-1 through -3-284; their bodies are currently being held by the Foundation. SCP-XXXX is able to communicate amongst hosts through the use of radio-like frequencies, though how it is able to send and receive these communications is yet unknown.

All known hosts of SCP-XXXX, both living and deceased, are former members of the █████ Cult formerly located in ██████ County, Arizona, United States. The Cult first gained the attention of the Foundation when reports from across the United States came in describing individuals in their early twenties suddenly moving to Arizona to join the Cult after displaying no previous interest in it, and in the majority of these cases, the individuals possessed no knowledge of the Cult's existence until only hours before their departure.

During initial observations, Foundation investigators described the members of the Cult as displaying little to no communication amongst themselves, verbal or otherwise. Despite this, all members demonstrated an impressive degree of cooperation amongst themselves, sometimes coming to the aid of others without any prior indication that help was needed. The differences in personalities amoungst Cult members were seemingly nonexistent.

When new members arrived, they would be guided by a Cult member, always of the opposite sex, into a structure on the west end of the Cult's compound, emerging about a day later, completely devoid of any previous personality or identity belonging to them.

On ██/██/20██, during a nighttime stakeout by Foundation investigators, using thermal scanners as a means of surveillance, it was discovered that members of the Cult had internal body temperatures averaging at about 70° C (158° F), nearly twenty degrees higher than what is normal in humans. After submitting this and other evidence to the O5 council, the Cult was given official anomaly status, and plans for its apprehension and containment were constructed.

On ██/██/20██ at 1:00 AM local time, armed agents surrounded the Cult's compound, ready to apprehend and detain all individuals inside. As the first wave moved in, agent #████ reported being spotted by one of the cult members through a window. Approximately 20 seconds later, 282 of the Cult's 286 members spontaneously died with no apparent cause. In the ensuing confusion, the four surviving members, Magenta ████ (formerly SCP-XXXX-3, now SCP-XXXX-5-283), Everett █████ (formerly SCP-XXXX-4, now SCP-XXXX-5-284), Janet █████, and Brad ██████ managed to flee apprehension.

Foundation agents were able to locate SCP-XXXX-5-283 in ██████, Washington, United States, but upon apprehension, the subject died instantaneously and without apparent cause, similar to the other Cult members. A similar scenario occurred with SCP-XXXX-5-284, located in ██████, Ontario, Canada. Not wishing for any more dead specimens, agents were able to lure SCP-XXXX-1 into a Foundation front acting as a bar in █████████, Missouri, United States. The specimen was subsequently rendered unconscious through use of sedative drugs put into its drink and was apprehended by Foundation field agents. As spontaneous death has yet to occur for instance SCP-XXXX-1, the hivemind is assumed to be unable to control unconscious hosts. SCP-XXX-2's last known whereabouts were boarding a flight to ████, Argentina; there is, however, no record of the specimen leaving the plane upon arrival.

When SCP-XXXX-1 was first brought to Site-67, it was kept in the medical facility with only containment guidelines normal to an SCP in its position. This changed eight days later when a male doctor performing a routine medical examination was caught by security personnel having intercourse with the unconscious specimen. Very soon after being forcefully removed from the specimen's room, the doctor grew sick with a consistently rising fever. It shortly became obvious to researchers that this doctor was being assimilated into SCP-XXXX and efforts were made to keep the doctor's internal body temperature from reaching 70° C. After various medical treatments to get the fever down failed, and with the information that SCP-XXXX uses radio-like signals to communicate, the doctor was moved to the site's Radio Frequency Isolation Chamber. After 30 minutes the fever stabilized and all symptoms were gone after 5 hours. The doctor was released from the chamber after two days and given amnestics for good measure.

The doctor described a sudden strong urge coming over him to have sex with SCP-XXXX-1, which provided new information as to how the hivemind acquires new hosts. Researchers believe since SCP-XXXX-1 was unconscious at the time, this event must have been a reflex by the hivemind to attract a new host body since the current has been rendered unusable.
