Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a rubber lined locker within site-28. The jar is to be have daily checks, to assure it is still within the facility. The jar must also undergo weekly usage, to detect any shortage or growth in its abilities.
This usage will be as follows: SCP-XXXX is to be placed in the center of a rubber insulated room. 4 nodes of varying electrical current and varying distance will be set inside the room. The jars lid will be removed by an assistant within the room. The jars lid will be replaced at its peak voltage. This voltage must be measured. The lid will be removed, thus (in theory) disabling the nodes.
If any signs of change in SCP-XXXX’s abilities surface, contact Site-28’s managment immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a glass jar, with a regular opening (60 mm) and a height of 96.52 mm. The jar was discovered by a foundation official on investigation of unknown outages in [DATA REDACTED]. On investigation, the jar was found in an abandoned factory. The factory was previously owned by only one company: “Garrets Gizmos Inc.” (See Manufacturer Investigation). Markings on the jar indicate that the manufacturer is the same company previously in possession of the building. When the jars lid is removed, the object begins to absorb surrounding electricity from any electrical device around it within a 100 m² radius (See Initial Discovery). This absorption is impossible through materials incapable of conducting electricity. The jar can only withhold approximately 2.7 amps of electricity, absorbing the energy at the pace of a device with 144 ohms. These measurements align with that of 5 light bulbs. As this occurs, the inside of the jar will begin to emit a bright yellow light. If the lid is not replaced onto the jar at the moment the jars peak capacity is reached, it will release the electricity and restore the devices it had effected. If the lid is placed onto the jar before this point, the light will be contained and sustain for a period of time, spanning from 10 minutes to an hour. If the lid is removed while the jar still holds light (electricity), SCP-XXXX will emit an electromagnetic pulse at the exact same radius as its absorption radius of 100 m². This pulse has the potential to disrupt surrounding electronics, and thus causes a threat to the sites of the Foundation; However, the pulse does not have long lasting effects. The devices affected have not retained permanent harm from SCP-XXXX (See Experiment Log 1).
