Navigate The Story:
"We've got a goddamn half-cat on the loose somewhere in the wild!"
"We have a search team looking for it. It can't have gone far."
"How can we be sure of that?"
All around the room, all the researchers screeched at one another. I simply sat there, not batting an eye towards the many arguing researchers. Josie's escape did not come without notice, Alice and Marien informed everyone long before it was confirmed. The cat was currently in no danger of being discovered. However, the possibility of losing the cat to the wilderness was high up. Regardless, they still wished to discuss the possibility of being discovered, rather than finding the poor cat itself.
"Okay, look. We need to assemble a team and look towards the evergreen glades. It's likely the cat stopped by the river aft-"
"No, we need to be sure no one saw the damn cat."
"Who would have seen the cat Racheal?"
"We don't know! We have to find out!"
"Enough. This conversation bores me. SCP-529 is not anywhere of worry. The priority is SCP-529's life. We shall search for SCP-529 at all costs."
The whole room fell into silence. No one dared to speak against this claim.
"Very well then, sir. We shall deploy…"
"You know, I've always wondered. How did you train everyone to listen to you so well?"
"Simple. I'm always right."
"That's not a good answer."
"It's the right one."
"Oh shut up."
Klara and I sat alone within the cafeteria of Site-17. However, we were not alone. We were together. Everyone else was busy handling SCP-529, but I had some time to spare. Klara simply sat, neglecting the pile of papers and memos she had to whisk her way through. It didn't matter much. She could easily get through twice that amount in a day, yet she chose to put it off until she couldn't any longer. in the meantime, I decided to fuel this strange habit. After all, who wouldn't want to flirt with Klara?
"You never answered me, how did you make them listen so goddamn well?"
"I have no answer. I guess I'm simply in charge."
"Fair point. However, how did you get in charge?"
"I did my work, unlike you."
"Bold comeback."
"Would it be befitting otherwise?"
I received no answer. Quite a typical move.
"Will Josie be okay?"
Klara asked in such a worried tone, I had to lie just this once.
"I'll make sure of it."
The young woman swooned, with a rather poor attempt to hide it. Guess I better go live up to my word.
"I'll be off. I have to go hunt down SCP-529."
"Out of all the SCP's here to breach containment, I never would have suspected that one."
"Surprisingly, I expect anything around here."
"Oh hush."
I hushed, as requested.
