Item #: SCP-529

Object Class: Safe Neutralized

Special Containment Procedures: The corpse of "Josie" is to be kept in a standard freezer locker on Site-17. Level 2 clearance is required to access the corpse. Any tracings found of SCP-529 within the evergreen glades should be disposed of immediately.

Description: SCP-529 was a small house cat (Felis catus) with grey tabby markings. SCP-529's appeared to be missing everything beyond the end of its ribcage. The body ended abruptly as if sliced in two. However, despite this, SCP-529 behaved as a standard cat. For example, some time after feeding the animal makes motions as if to void itself of waste matter.

The cross-section did not display the interior of the animal, but appeared pure black to the eye, and absorbed all non-visible wavelengths of light. It was slightly yielding to the touch. Gentle stroking of this area sometimes yielded a positive reaction (purring and so on) but more usually lead to the creature turning on the agent, claws at the ready. Those scratched have experienced no abnormalities.

The hind regions do not appear to be invisible - a cursory examination will show that there are no hindquarters. DNA testing had shown the animal to be female.

Following Addendum 529-1, SCP-529 has ceased all functions, and has been confirmed deceased.

Addendum 529-1: On March 27th, 2048, a sudden containment breach occurred from an unnamed group of individuals, prominently seen for their wearing of all black. They proceeded to take multiple anomalies with them, and during the excursion, SCP-529 was able to escape through a broken fence. After wandering throughout the evergreen glades next to Site-17 for an extended period of time, SCP-529 was found dead on April 2nd, 2048 in an open clearing. Autopsy reports concluded that the cat had died due to malnutrition and harsh weather conditions, specifically on March 30th.
