Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard secure locker located at Site-27 on the outskirts of Rome, Italy. The locker is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell located on Sublevel 3, "Greco-Roman Artifacts". Access to the containment chamber of SCP-XXXX is restricted to personnel with Level 4 clearance and above. Any personnel attempting to access SCP-XXXX without proper clearance are subject to immediate disciplinary action.

SCP-XXXX

Description: SCP-XXXX is a traditional Chinese jian 69.545 centimeters long and weighing roughly 900 grams. The blade, measuring 55 centimeters long, is made up of of non-anomalous blackened steel, with the words "MORS CERTA, HORA INCERTA" etched into one side. The phrase, translated from latin, reads "death is certain, hour is uncertain". The remainder of the blade is the handle, which is made up of 24 karat gold.

SCP-XXXX's only anomalous property occurs when any individual enters within a 10 meter radius of SCP-XXXX. Once in SCP-XXXX's area of effect, individuals report feeling an impending sense of doom, along with overwhelming dread and paranoia. Testing shows that individuals exposed to SCP-XXXX for extended periods of time are subject to panic attacks, and in one case, death (see Addendum XXXX.X). Once an individual moves out of the area of effect, any effects from SCP-XXXX will fade, although affected individuals are required to go through trauma counseling before returning to their prior duties.
