Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter Archon

Special Containment Procedures: By order of the O5 council, it has been deemed unnecessary to contain SCP-XXXX due to its beneficial effects upon the vast majority of human subjects.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation given to the metaphysical manifestation of the collective unconscious of all human beings. It constitutes the expression of a subject’s desires, impulses and instinctive behaviours. SCP-XXXX has been deemed benevolent and beneficial towards human life.

While SCP-XXXX has not been observed to exist at the level of conscious thought, it has been observed to manifest within the unconscious thoughts of human subjects. Such manifestations have been designated as an SCP-XXXX event. During these events, SCP-XXXX manifests as a humanoid of an identical build and sex to the subject. The entity takes the appearance of a high medieval court jester with a masquerade ball mask affixed to its face.

SCP-XXXX will approach and begin to communicate with the subject. SCP-XXXX will begin discussing the subject's suppressed fantasies and impulses. The subject's moral opinions on the fantasies and impulses appears to have no bearing on what information SCP-XXXX decides to impart.

Upon the conclusion of an SCP-XXXX event, the subject may or may not recall the event. Those that do remember the events typically report feelings of dread and unease afterwards. Over 64% of those that recall their personal SCP-XXXX event will attempt to seek out therapy.

If an individual is unable to confront SCP-XXXX, they will succumb to it and this will manifest itself in destructive personality traits, primarily melancholia. Those under the influence of SCP-XXXX will display no physical distinctions but their mental functions will be impaired. It is the Foundation’s understanding that SCP-XXXX manifests these effects in order to prompt the individual into being proactive about their life, punishing them for an unknown moralistic deficiency.

If in subsequent SCP-XXXX events, which may occur anytime they next enter an unconscious state, the subject will be able to confront SCP-XXXX once again. If they become successful in acknowledging SCP-XXXX as their innate behaviour and accept its accusations, they will exit the SCP-XXXX event with no negative side effects.

The Foundation has concluded that 99.98% of the human population have experienced an SCP-XXXX event.

Before, 21/3/2020, it is understood that SCP-XXXX did not appear before all subject’s as a jester but that each individual saw a unique figure personal to their own subconscious thoughts. It is still not fully understood why SCP-XXXX chose to take the appearance of a court jester.
