Item #: SCP-XXXXObject Class: Euclid |
A bridge within SCP-XXXX, approximately 170km south-east of the Point Pleasant aperture.
Special Containment Procedures: Each of the apertures leading into and out of SCP-XXXX are observed and monitored by Foundation sites in their corresponding areas.
The Centralia Aperture is monitored remotely from Site-290, which resides beneath a Pennsylvania State Highway Patrol station approximately five kilometers outside of city limits. In the event of a breach, an automated system will flood the room containing the Aperture with Nitrous Oxide and subdue the breaching subject with Containment Foam, allowing for collection by Personnel at Site-290. In the event that these measures fail, non-sparking weaponry is to be deployed, due to the large amount of combustible gas around the Aperture. Ingress to this Aperture is not advised unless absolutely necessary.
The Point Pleasant Aperture is monitored on-site by Site-291, which is disguised as a Park Ranger station for the McClintic Wildlife Management Area. Entities emerging from the Point Pleasant Aperture typically can be subdued using conventional means, after which their remains are to be incinerated.
The Brown Mountain Aperture is monitored on-site by Site-292, which is located approximately 20 meters below the opening. Infrasonic deterrents have been deployed in the area to prevent birds from entering the Brown Mountain Aperture. In the event that the Brown Mountain Aperture ejects biological waste, it is to be immediately incinerated.
The Witch Cave aperture is monitored remotely from Site-293, which is located beneath the town of Adams, Tennessee. The passage leading to the Aperture has been blocked off by personnel at Site-293, with Standard Cover Story 384 ("Dangerous Terrain") in effect; memetic deterrents have been implanted into warning signs in the area.
Due to the constantly mobile nature of the Hopkinsville Aperture, the town has been designated a Nexus Zone (Nexus-294) and is monitored by Site-294 in order to contain anomalies that have exited SCP-XXXX, and set up exclusion zones around confirmed manifestations of the Aperture.
Expeditions into SCP-XXXX are to be carried out [yada yada yada]
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to an extra-universal space accessible through five apertures throughout the central Appalachian Mountains in the United States (colloquially referred to as "Appalachia".) These apertures are located in the following locations:
- The basement of a house at 12 Bonham Street, Centralia, Pennsylvania. Due to environmental conditions1, this aperture has sunken approximately three meters below its original position at discovery.
- The back wall of Bunker #5 at the former West Virginia Ordnance Works within the McClintic Wildlife Management Area near Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The existence of the Point Pleasant Aperture is not immediately obvious, but is visible through a series of swirling patterns present in the brickwork.
- 20 meters above ground level at [COORDINATES REDACTED] at Brown Mountain, North Carolina. Unreachable except through the use of aircraft.
- The lowest part of the Bell Witch Cave in Adams, Tennessee. This aperture only opens when the light level in the immediate area is less than 5 Lux.
- At random locations at the outskirts of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Location shifts on an irregular basis, but does not enter a three-kilometer radius centered around Hopkinsville First Presbyterian church.
SCP-XXXX is geographically similar to the baseline Appalachia; however, despite the presence of human settlements, it is completely devoid of non-anomalous human life. Non-anomalous human life can be surmised to exist outside of SCP-XXXX, as equipment brought into SCP-XXXX has been found capable to receive transmissions such as radio and television signals, as well as data from GPS satellites.
A translucent barrier, designated SCP-XXXX-A, prevents egress from SCP-XXXX to the larger continental United States. Visibility through SCP-XXXX-A is is poor, and does not exceed two meters. Non-human organic matter is capable of passing through SCP-XXXX-A; all other matter will be obstructed.
