Special Containment Procedures: Due to the extreme difficulty inherent in containing SCP-XXXX, containment efforts are currently focused on instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2, including SCP-XXXX-Prime. Research on countermemes to fight the effect of SCP-XXXX is underway, but has so far proved inconclusive. Any repetition of the operant phrase is to be countered by immediate administration of Class-A amnestics. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be kept in a secure archive at Site-15 and may be studied, provided that any researcher wishing to view them agrees to be amnestized afterwards.
SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be sought out by field agents inoculated against SCP-XXXX as well as other Class-VII cognitohazards and amnestized. In the event that Class-C amnestics cannot be properly administered, termination of SCP-XXXX-1 individuals may be authorized on a case-by-case basis. In the case of a potential large outbreak, Mobile Task Force Gamma-5 ("Red Herrings") is on permanent standby to amnestize all affected civilians, with permission to administer Class-E amnestics as necessary.
Screenings of SCP-XXXX-Prime are to be prevented through the application of the Ericaceae Protocol. In the event of a successful screening, Class-A amnestics are to be administered to all attendees before they can exit the theatre. A purchase of the distribution rights to SCP-XXXX-Prime from ██████ is currently being negotiated. The prevention of new outbreaks of SCP-XXXX is paramount.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the designation given to a memetic phenomenon associated with the 1989 comedy film Heathers. SCP-XXXX-1 is the designation given to persons affected by the meme. The anomalous media produced by SCP-XXXX-1 persons is designated as SCP-XXXX-2.
UPDATE (██/10/2019)
An instance of SCP-XXXX-2 has been released to mass markets, constituting a catastrophic containment breach. Said instance is a professionally produced feature film, with potential for screenings in any English-speaking country. This instance has been designated SCP-XXXX-Prime. The Ericaceae Protocol has been approved for use by the O5 council.
SCP-XXXX has the potential to infect anyone who has viewed Heathers in part or in full. The meme is passed on via the operant phrase "If Heathers is so good, why isn't there Heathers 2?" and instances of SCP-XXXX-2. In the first phase of infection, affected individuals will experience vivid memories of viewing a film with the title of Heathers 2. Reported plot devices vary between SCP-XXXX-1 individuals. However, SCP-XXXX-1 instances will always recall a specific overarching story to the film. The plot, as described by SCP-XXXX-1-034 shortly before amnestization, is a black comedy similar to the original Heathers, featuring protagonist Veronica Sawyer killing a large number of people at Remington University to cover up a hit-and-run.
In the second stage of infection, SCP-XXXX-1 instances will create an instance of SCP-XXXX-2, capable of spreading SCP-XXXX with a 96.7% rate of infection among susceptible individuals. Said media also spreads a complete understanding of the plot of Heathers 2. SCP-XXXX-2 media is not limited to a specific medium, and is usually produced in the format the SCP-XXXX-1 individual is most experienced in. The work is usually pursued as a hobby activity in the subject's free time, making determination of SCP-XXXX infection difficult until publication of an instance of SCP-XXXX-2. Excerpts from SCP-XXXX-2 instances are available to all Hll-17 personnel.
The only treatment known to be effective against SCP-XXXX is the removal of the meme and all memories of producing an SCP-XXXX-2 instance via Class-C amnestic treatment.
Addenda
Addendum XXXX.α: Incident Log
Addendum XXXX.β: Archived Iterations
Addendum-XXXX-24: Requesting immediate reclassification of SCP-XXXX from Keter-potissimi to Apollyon and an increased budget for Hll-17. We are quickly running out of funds and we've had to use four Class-E amnestics in the last two weeks to cure outbreaks.
- Dr. Yabuki, Committee Hll-17 Director
Addendum-XXXX-25: Request denied. This is the ninth time you've requested a budget increase, and the Council is in no mood to grant any more funds to Hll-17. Class-C amnestics have worked for treating XXXX outbreaks in the past; do not order the use of Class-E amnestics on hundreds of thousands of civilians because of an isolated instance of a few hundred SCP-XXXX-1. Resistance can be easily built up to such drugs.
