Special Containment Procedures: The Foundation has drastically increased its presence on Mauritius and currently maintains a small base of operations on the island, focused on the tracking and capture of newly manifested SCP-XXXX. All captured SCP-XXXX instances are to be transported to Site 24 immediately. Historical accounts and other reports of SCP-XXXX are to be doctored for removal of any references to anomalous properties. Personnel responding to manifestations are authorized to administer Class A-B Amnestics as needed. All captured instances of SCP-XXXX are to be equipped with GPS-capable leg bands.
SCP-XXXX-01 through SCP-XXXX-36 are currently contained in Site 24’s Bio-Containment Wing in Enclosures A1 and A2. The enclosures are to be outfitted with a canopy layer of trees and fruit-bearing plants endemic to Mauritius, as well as a controlled stream of water. Monthly cleanings of SCP-XXXX’s enclosures are to be carried out by specifically trained D-Class personnel.
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to the formerly extinct flightless bird, Raphus cucullatus. (the Dodo) The species possesses brown plumage, a green beak, a naked head, stout yellow legs, black claws, and a tuft of curly feathers on its rear end. SCP-XXXX is able to move forward through time when startled, with the amount of time traveled depending on the intensity of fear inflicted. Though originally thought to be extinct, SCP-XXXX was recently re-discovered when sixteen instances manifested on ██/██/2019.
Following containment of the original fifteen surviving instances of SCP-XXXX, the anomalies have been observed to form monogamous mating pairs and breed. Females have been observed to lay one large egg per mating season, which produces an altricial hatchling. Young SCP-XXXX grow quickly; reaching asexual maturity within five months. Of the thirty-six currently contained instances, ten have hatched under Foundation supervision. It is unknown if young SCP-XXXX instances are capable of moving through time, as only mature instances have been observed to do so.
An additional twenty-five SCP-XXXX instances have been confirmed to manifest by Foundation personnel, of which fifteen have perished under various conditions before being contained. Manifestation events follow no pattern and have been found to occur throughout most of Mauritius, with groups, pairs, or singular instances appearing at a time.
It is currently unknown how many instances of SCP-XXXX may yet to manifest. Site 24 is capable of housing up to 100 total instances of SCP-XXXX, but there are currently no plans on expanding the containment facilities due to space and budgetary limitations.
