When one comes into smells SCP-XXXX, is able to recall the smell of SCP-XXXX, or can imagine the smell of SCP-XXXX2 they gradually lose the ability to communicate. This is mostly the result of the obfuscation of vocabulary. Individuals afflicted by SCP-XXXX inadvertently use words in ways that do not match their definitions. These individuals are completely unaware that the word itself is incorrect, even when confronted with their misuse. Additionally, people displaying this vocabulary obfuscation are perfectly able to define the words that are used incorrectly. This schizophasic effect is present in all forms of attempted communication3. MRI scans revealing neurodegeneration of Brocca's area in almost all subjects. However, no significant changes were found in Wernicke's area or the angular gyrus. This suggests no abnormalities in the ability of subjects to understand other people. Individuals displaying memetic schizophasia do not understand others afflicted with the same memetic infections. Vocabulary shifts are noticeably different between subjects—though, after long exposure, comprehensible sections of word-salad are constant between subjects4.
