Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-XXXX became extinct before successful containment could be achieved, direct containment of SCP-XXXX is not necessary. Instead, the Foundation is to monitor all archeological research in Mauritius and collect any relevant information regarding SCP-XXXX. All historical accounts of SCP-XXXX are to be doctored for removal of any references to anomalous properties.

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to the extinct flightless bird, Raphus cucullatus. (the Dodo) The species possessed brown plumage, a green beak, a naked head, stout yellow legs, black claws, and a tuft of curly feathers on its rear end. SCP-XXXX possessed the ability to teleport short distances. Reports speculate SCP-XXXX also possessed the ability to multiply, as groups were recorded to appear at random. It is currently unknown if this is due to other instances teleporting nearby or if the species truly possessed self-duplicating abilities.

While extant, SCP-XXXX displayed little fear of humans and would approach Foundation personnel who studied them. However, once attempts at capture were made, instances would vanish. Local Dutch colonists were observed to take advantage of SCP-XXXX's lack of fear and would approach the entities to fire point blank and ensure an easy hunt.

Due to the difficulty of capturing and transporting anomalies with teleporting abilities in the 1600's, Foundation predecessor organizations failed to contain SCP-XXXX. The last confirmed instance of SCP-XXXX was neutralized by a Dutch hunter in 1662. Though reported sightings have surfaced throughout the years, none have been confirmed by Foundation personnel.

+ Incident Report: 353

Incident XXXX-353: On 07/26/2019, sixteen instances of SCP-XXXX manifested in a park in Port Louis, Mauritius. Foundation field agents were able to sedate fifteen of the instances. One manifested with an injury and expired shortly after being successfully captured. Class A amnestics were administered to over 120 civilian witnesses. All instances were transported to Site 24, where the surviving are currently being held in a makeshift containment chamber emulating their endemicity.

SCP-XXXX-01 through SCP-XXXX-15 have been outfitted with leg bands noting their designation and a GPS tracker. They do not seem to fear humans, as the entities will approach D-Class assigned to feeding them and respond with curiosity to researchers observing them.

An autopsy performed on SCP-XXXX-16 revealed a musket ball lodged in the entity's left lung. Though the gunshot was not lethal, though the entity had lost a significant amount of blood before capture leading to its death. The musket ball appears to be hand-pressed, evidenced by several imperfections along its seam line. It is speculated that it was made before the 18th century, as hand-pressing musket balls became uncommon in the late 1700's.

None of the instances have been observed to multiply or teleport while in containment as of capture. Due to how little is currently known of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties, they are currently at high-risk of breaching containment. Additional cameras and motion sensors are being installed in Site 24 and the surrounding area in anticipation of a possible SCP-XXXX containment breach.

+ Incident Report: 354

Incident XXXX-354:During a routine cleaning of SCP-XXXX's containment area, D-1221 accidentally startled SCP-XXXX-02 by raking near it. The instance squawked in alarm before instantly vanishing. SCP-XXXX-02's location is currently unknown, as the GPS on its leg band ceased function immediately upon its disappearance.

Standard Low-Risk Containment Breach Procedure 31-F has been implemented until the entity is re-contained. All personnel are advised to maintain distance from SCP-XXXX-02 if spotted and notify security personnel as soon as possible. Responding security personnel must be equipped with tranquilizer shots and aerosol anesthetics. Neutralizing or harming SCP-XXXX-02 is to be avoided at all costs.

+ Incident Report: 355

Incident XXXX-354:SCP-XXXX-02 was confirmed to be within the SCP-XXXX containment chamber by Junior Researcher Ahuja following a sudden re-activation of its attached GPS tracker. Security footage was reviewed to deduce how SCP-XXXX-02 reappeared. The entity was observed to manifest near the south-west corner of the room of the chamber at 4:05 AM, then approached the other sleeping SCP-XXXX instances and came to rest.

Researcher Patel requested and was granted access to security footage of Incident 354, which occurred almost 8 days prior to Incident 355. Through repeated viewings and GPS history tracking, it was discovered that SCP-XXXX-02 disappeared and manifested in the same spot. It is currently believed that SCP-XXXX does not posses self-multiplying or teleporting properties, but are instead capable of moving forward in time.

SCP-XXXX is currently pending reclassification and an update on special containment procedures.
