Wlu2 1

Item #: SCP-4576

Object Class: Apollyon

Special Containment Procedures: Joint Project Nammu compartmentalization protocols remain in effect. Apzu 2 is en route to Jupiter, and will arrive in 2023. Apzu 3 and Apzu 4 are each in the construction phase for followup expeditions.

At this time, there are no containment procedures that could be put in place to mitigate the threat posed by the inhabitants of SCP-4576. Existing assets in the Jupiter system are to be considered available for reconfiguration should SCP-4576 become a greater security concern, but are unlikely to be meaningfully effective.

Enki.aic is presently tasked with obtaining as much intelligence as possible regarding SCP-4576 while returning a minimum of information regarding humanity. Attempts to exchange misinformation are not productive and not to be attempted.

Description: SCP-4576 is a subaquatic megalopolis of alien origin, located on the seafloor of the Nerean Ocean on Europa, the second moon of Jupiter.

An isolated SCP-4576 cell, in a typical state of disrepair.

Cartographic efforts are ongoing, but preliminary surveys indicate that SCP-4576 primarily consists of a network of hexagonal cells, ranging from several meters in height and width to roughly 2 kilometers in height and dozens of meters in width. These cells are mostly composed of concrete derived from the available rock and sediment in the seafloor, but also contain as yet unidentified materials. Also present are a minority of simpler circular structures, which tend to be substantially smaller and more isolated from the denser hexagonal structures. In total, at least 20% of the Nerean seafloor analyzed thus far by Nereus is occupied by SCP-4576 (approximately 570,000 square kilometers, not accounting for discontinuous structures).

The vast majority of SCP-4576 structures are compromised and display signs of serious damage, appearing incomplete, warped, or highly eroded. Furthermore, no evidence of any kind of biological life form has been located anywhere within the Nerean Ocean (or on the surface), other than the presence of SCP-4576.

Addendum 4576-1: Apzu 1 Expedition

Apzu 1

Since Nereus had been constructed merely as a test craft, it was not designed to function long term in the conditions of the Nerean Ocean. Over six months, it mapped the seafloor from the underside of the Europaen ice crust before shutting down entirely. To continue its mission, Joint Project Nammu commissioned a new series of spacecraft specifically designed for missions to the Europaen subsurface, designated the Apzu series. The first Apzu was launched in March of 2013, and arrived at the Jupiter system in January of 2019.

Addendum 4576-2: Interviews With Native Entity

The following are segments of an extremely long series of interviews (over 650,000 total words in total) conducted over the course of several days between Enki.aic and the entity which assumed possession and reactivated it, designated SCP-4576-A. Due to their shared artificial nature, these exchanges were conducted at extremely high speed and submitted in bulk by Enki.aic later.

Addendum 4576-3: Priority Message From Enki.aic

The following is a priority summary submitted by Enki.aic after it had several days spent examining the central complex of SCP-4576.
