Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 15 meter by 15 meter by 15 meter containment chamber at the far end of a 36 meter long corridor located on the east side of Site-██. No signs or barriers are to be placed within the corridor. The SCP-XXX’s containment chamber is to be cleared of all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 every 24 hours. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 must be taken to containment chamber 25, located at the opposite end of the corridor. After removing all instances of SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX’s position within its containment chamber must be shifted by personnel. Under no circumstances should SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber be left uncleared for longer than 30 hours. If this does occur it should be considered a minor containment breach. If left uncleared for longer than 102 hours then it is considered a major breach, the containment of which should be high priority.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a standard, plain orange traffic cone. It does not bear a serial number or any other inscription. SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties become apparent when it is left alone in a single place for over an hour. At this point any traffic cones, warning signs, hazard tape, traffic barriers, doors, and other similar objects within a 25 centimetre radius of SCP-XXXX may either change position or vanish. This effect can only occur when the area is not being directly observed, and although it usually takes several minutes for a single object to be affected, tests have shown that the effect can occur in as little time as it takes to blink. Attempts to use recording apparatus static or other interference when the effect takes place, but judging by the speed at which it can happen it can be considered to be a form of instant displacement. It is unknown what happens to objects that disappear, as none have ever been recovered. The area influenced by SCP-XXXX increases slowly at a rate of about 1 meter every 2 hours. It is unknown if SCP-XXXX’s sphere of influence has a size limit. Moving SCP-XXXX from its position appears to reset its area of influence. After all objects within a 2 meter radius of SCP-XXXX have either been displaced or removed by its effects SCP-XXXX will begin to manifest objects around its current position. All objects produced by SCP-XXXX will hereby be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. Initially, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will seem to be traffic cones, appearing almost identical to SCP-XXXX, with the exception of looking brand new and clean. The cones will usually be arranged in some kind of pattern, such as a line or circle. Once a certain number of cones has been produced (the exact amount seems to vary every time), other instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to manifest. These can take the form of any objects that can be influenced by SCP-XXXX’s displacement effect, but at first tend to be smaller and/or lighter, such as paper or plastic signs and hazard tape. These appear in places where they would normally be placed, however if no such places are available they may also manifest in seemingly random or nonsensical locations (see test 3 for more details). As SCP-XXXX’s sphere of influence increases it new instances of SCP-XXXX-1 take on the form of more heavy-duty objects, from large metal fences to concrete barriers. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 can be moved from their positions and seem to display no anomalous properties of their own, with the exception of de-manifesting after a period of 12 hours if taken outside of the sphere of influence of SCP-XXXX. Thus far, all attempts to make significant physical damage to SCP-XXXX have failed. The object was first recovered on ██/██/20██, on the corner of ███████ St and ██████ Blvd, ██████████████, ███████████, USA, by MTF Pi-1 “City Slickers”. By the time the Foundation had been notified of potential anomalous activity by field agent ███, SCP-XXXX’s sphere of influence had spread quite significantly, and had caused several accidents, resulting in around ██ injuries, █ of which were fatal. Eventually the source of the anomalous activity was determined to be a cluster of traffic cones located in a local construction site. Said cones were recovered by MTF Pi-1 and were place in separate containment chambers in Site-██ After 12 hours all but one of the cones had de-manifested. This cone was then classified as SCP-XXXX and initial testing began (see test logs 1 and 2), leading to the construction of the current containment chamber and adjacent corridor.

Addendum 1: It should be noted that although SCP-XXXX’s effects do not appear to be malicious in nature, seeming more like random placement/displacement, if left unchecked it can still be hazardous, creating barriers that block fire exits or removing warning signs from dangerous areas. If a minor or major breach is suspected, contact the site director immediately.

Addendum 2: Following the containment breach on ██/██/201█, SCP-XXXX has been reclassified as Euclid. For further details see Incident report ██/██/201█.
