Item #: SCP-Framed Love

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to be contained in a standard sized room, residing in Site 76. Two security personnel who have been approved by Dr.████ are to be station outside the entrance to SCP-XXX's room. No special door or locking system is needed, with only a basic level 2 lock and key fitting. When not undergoing testing, SCP-XXX must be fully cloaked from view with SCP-XXX-2. When testing is taking place, SCP-XXX-2 must be quickly accessible at all times.

The anomalous properties caused by SCP-XXX do not occur from viewings of video surveillance, photos, and/or copies of the SCP-XXX.

Description: SCP-XXX is a painting of a young women posing on a red cushioned antique chair, mounted in a 60 x 40cm gold gilt frame. The portrait bares the appearance of a women in her early twenties with neatly groomed brown hair. SCP-XXX wears a Victorian era white gown, either for a wedding or ball. SCP-XXX holds a decaying flower in her left hand and an unknown item in her right. The origins of SCP-XXX appear to be man made with a date on the back of SCP-XXX reading 14/5/██. No painter's signature or reference can be found. When SCP-XXX is viewed by a heterosexual male, the observer will begin to feel the urge to approach SCP-XXX and kiss the painted lips. Any personal1 or D-Class who have made contact with SCP-XXX are hereby referred to as SCP-XXX-1. Once contact between SCP-XXX and SCP-XXX-1 has been made, SCP-XXX-1 will undergo permanent symptoms over the course of 24 hours. SCP-XXX-1 will begin to suffer dry and chapped lips that flake upon touch, while expressing minor discomfort. Any form of petroleum jelly, lip balm or moisturizer provide no solution or relief. SCP-XXX-1 lose their ability to love or lust for another human, showing no signs of affection towards current relationships or partners. This symptom was brought to attention after Dr.██████ reported her husband lacking interest in her after an incident with SCP-XXX on █/█/██. This has been slowly confirmed after individuals proclaimed they no longer feel any attraction towards their relationship or partner following their interaction with SCP-XXX.

SCP-XXX’s effects and desire to kiss SCP-XXX depends on the observers self control and loyalty. With some withstanding it longer and others submitting quicker, no known person has fully resisted.

However, if a heterosexual female observes SCP-XXX, they will not experience the same as a heterosexual male would. Instead, they display a number of feelings and comments around SCP-XXX. These range from an intense envy towards SCP-XXX, expressing impolite remarks towards SCP-XXX, fear for their lovers, or boasting about their own appearance in comparison to SCP-XXX. These effects are quickly diminished once the individual is removed and can no longer see SCP-XXX.

It should also be noted that if a homosexual male observes SCP-XXX, they will respond in the same way a heterosexual female would. A homosexual female, much like a heterosexual male, will feel the desire to approach and kiss SCP-XXX. Further testing required.

SCP-XXX-2 is a silk weaved white cloth resembling that of a torn dress or blanket, measuring around 75 x 72cm. SCP-XXX-2 was originally acquired with SCP-XXX. SCP-XXX’s anomalous properties are blocked out when cloaked by SCP-XXX-2. Studies have shown fabrics and other means of covering SCP-XXX have no effect on its properties, with individuals still being drawn towards SCP-XXX within the same room. The current radius of SCP-XXX’s reach is unknown.

Discovery: SCP-XXX was retrieved from the private collection of Mr.████ located in ██████,████████, England. The Foundation was alerted to SCP-XXX when Mr.████ wrote in his autobiography about visitors and servants who repeatedly tried to kiss one of his paintings. SCP-XXX’s influence was shown almost immediately after three members from the retrieval team tried to interact with SCP-XXX. When questioned on how he acquired the painting, Mr.████ states he discovered it in his parents attic. Retrieval personnel reported that Mr.████ had been suffering dried lips at the time and when questioned, he refused to elaborate. Any mention of SCP-XXX have been removed in all reprints of Mr.████’s “Art and I” autobiography. SCP-XXX-2 was discovered pinned behind SCP-XXX along side a note written in rushed, crude handwriting. The note is presumably written by the painter, despite the comparison to the craftsmanship of the painting.
