Item #: SCP-5920
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5920 is to be kept in a iron safe kept under the desk of Dr.(Don't know name yet). The pass code to the safe is to be known by any non D-Class personnel who wishes to use it for testing or personal use as long as they remain on site and only burn authorized materials. Ask Dr.(Previously Mentioned) to obtain the code.
Description: SCP-5920 is a small brass handheld Zippo lighter seeming to originate from 1945. The lighter has a menorah inscribed on the side of suggesting an origination in Hebrew culture. The lighter must be manually refueled with lighter fluid after approximately 1 week if used on a regular basis. When SCP-5920 is used to start a fire, referred to as SCP-5920-1, the fire behaves normally in most ways but the heat put out by the fire is always the exact amount needed to warm up anyone nearby to the fire to their preferred temperature. The feeling of the warmth also does not come directly from a fire but is said to "envelop" a recipient and they are warmed equally in all parts of their body. Most inanimate things thrown into the fire are burned up as if it outputted the same heat as a regular fire its size. This is in contrast to any living thing which will just feel a slight tickling around any part of the body inserted into it. The most anomalous effect of the fires started by SCP-5920 takes place when any item of significant sentiment to the subject putting it in the fire is set into the fire. The smoke that is created by these items, when inhaled, causes the subject with the emotional ties to it to relive related memories in a dreamlike sequence. This can last for hours from a subject's point of view but only lasts for approximately 2 seconds according to observers. This effect works best when done with items with positive emotional ties to it such as the wedding dress of a happily married couple. Another anomalous effect of instances of SCP-5920-1 takes place when material with writing upon it is burned. The fire takes on the voice that calms the subject most and reads aloud the writing on whatever was inserted into it. This works in all tested written languages but the voice will only read aloud in the language written. This does not however work with all writing. Writing containing "negative", graphic or traumatic will be skipped over and only the "positive" parts will be read aloud. If the entirety of the writing fits into the 3 banned topics then the voice will simply be heard to clear its throat and the fire seems to weaken. When very positive writing or a "good story" is put into the fire the voice seems to read the text with gusto and the fire seems to grow in intensity, causing subjects near it to feel happiness spread throughout their body as if it the heat is turned into it. The longest the voice has been known to read aloud was when given a comprehensive English dictionary. This took 41 hours to complete and by the end the voice of the fire was beginning to sound slightly hoarse to subjects listening. The voice taken on by the fire is also known to make comments sporadically having a "Patient yet Authoritative voice" as described by many subjects. When asked their opinions of the voice most subjects report seeing it as a father or mother figure. Most subjects who have no parental figures see it more as a figure above them who is looking out for them.
