SCP XXXX

Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently kept in Storage Unit 504, Container 302. Due to the many specific conditions needed for its anomalous effects to manifest, it does not require any more than basic object security and needs not to be attended for anything more than regular checkups and cleaning.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 5x5 meter bathtub composed of a porcelain base with silver knobs and tap. Its date of manufacture and manufacturer name has been eroded out, so an exact determination of when it was made is impossible. Nevertheless, it can be assumed to be an older model due to the wear and tear across its body and its less modern design.

SCP-XXXX begins to exhibit its anomalous properties once any living thing that is either blind or with the ability to close its eyes submerges itself in its water with their eyes closed. Subjects have described the feeling felt when doing so as similar to slowly drifting out of reality, similar to when one is falling asleep. The time usually taken for a change to appear differs greatly, although it has never been more than a minute. Once the time does pass, the subject will spontaneously teleport to a building located at the bottom of an unknown ocean. Attempts to locate the building or decipher which ocean have failed, and it is unknown if the location is situated on Earth or somewhere else.

The building is usually described as looking like a castle, although the towers spiral and the walls are uneven and jagged.

(hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) that has eyes that can open and close (most non-microscopic creature other than plants) fully submerges themselves in the tub with their eyes closed for times ranging from 3 to 5 seconds, larger animals have shown to take more time. After the designated time goes through, the test subject seemingly teleports to a random spot near the bottom of the ocean, with most cases having SCP-XXXX-1 appear somewhere in the Mariana's Trench. For reasons unknown, SCP-XXXX-1 does not succumb to the extremely high pressure and low temperatures of such places and breathes the water like its air with no known negative effects. For these reasons, most subjects sent by SCP-XXXX have either died of starvation or disappeared after losing connection with the Foundation, presumably dying shortly after from similar reasons. Subjects have shown to still feel the cold and the crushing of the water above them although it didn't cause any obvious negative effects, and because of that and the general nature of where the subjects were sent, experimentation with SCP-XXXX on intelligent beings is massively restricted and only occurs occasionaly.
