Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: [SCP-X is contained within a modified human cell. Any fixtures that would have allowed an individual to see the anomaly have been removed. Personal guarding SCP-X must fall under two categories. That they have no prior religious involvement or faith, nor are they belonging to the LBGTQ+ community. In the event that such a person does come into contact with SCP-X, they are to be detained and amneticized. Any food or nourishment provided to SCP-X must be placed through a metal slot, located on the containment cell’s door. All requests for objects from the anomaly have to be approved by the site director.]

Description: [SCP-X is a humanoid entity, bearing no biological differences from a standard human. Its anomalous properties manifest when it encounters someone professing faith in a religion. Its effects are more likely to take hold if the individual aligns themself with an Abrahamic faith. This is believed to be due to the entity’s own beliefs, its abilities morphing the behavior of another. Whenever a religious person holds a conversation with SCP-X, the anomaly will steer the conversation to the topic of homosexuality, and all other related themes. SCP-X will question the other person, designated SCP-X-1, on their standing with individuals who fall outside of the heterosexual orientation. Individuals will often reply with uncertainty, but over the course of the conversation, SCP-X-1 will start agreeing with SCP-X. Said persons will profess hate for these groups, holding the opinion that they are sick. Their demeanor around humans who fall into this category will change as will. Oftentimes symptoms include, aversion of eyes, actively avoiding before mentioned individuals, and in rare cases, a strong desire to approach the person and pray for them. Persons who come across SCP-X-1 instances who fall into the LBGTQ community will express hostility, ignoring the affected or becoming physical with them. Multiple members of this group surrounding SCP-X-1 will attempt to kill the anomaly. It will put up no resistance, and experiments performed suggest that these instances adopt a martyr mentality, dying for their belief in the midst of persecution.

Any religious person who speaks with SCP-X-1 will behave in the same manner as the affected. These individuals congregate together, when possible, and are attracted to single or groups of LBGTQ+ persons. SCP-X-1 instances will demonstrate several behaviors at this point, varying in intensity, though no reason has been found as to how these anomalies decide to pick which action to proceed with. They have been seen to approach groups of interest with signs, bearing hate-speech and Biblical quotations. Elsewhere they have held mass prayers, speaking about the healing of America, and the repentance of the unclean. In rare cases, they will actively attack with the intent to kill. [Redacted] deaths have been caused due to these attacks.]

Discovery: [SCP-X was discovered after reports surfaced of pro-lbgt churches in {Redacted], Ohio changing their stances on said groups. Their declarations of the change exhibited similarities in wording and style, being almost identical in some places. Combined with increased alt-right demonstrations in democratic cities, the Foundation was notified and quickly made measures to contain the situation. Agents Kepler and Clyde were dispatched to a church that SCP-X was attending. They were selected due to their non-religious associations. SCP-X’s properties were deduced after significant monitoring of its activities, both internet archives and news reports.]
