SCP-XX, "Chemical X"

CLASS: Euclid

SCP-XX is a viscous blue-gray liquid of unknown origin and manufacture. The Foundation has encountered SCP-XX in numerous locations, including quantities of the fluid in captured Chaos Insurgency research bases and expired samples from abandoned hospitals and laboratories found on the South African coastline and Antarctic circle. Most of these labs, after being searched, secured, and cleared of any anomalous activity, are condemned and demolished, though certain laboratories are kept for Foundation use1.

The molecular structure of SCP-XX is specially suited as a tool for genetic engineering. It is capable of reconstructing itself to replace or build onto DNA strands. With the specialized equipment commonly found alongside the liquid, it is possible to completely rewrite one's entire genetic makeup in 34 hours, even less if the modifications were simpler.

Due to how versatile the chemical is, the containment procedures vary from instance to instance.

SCP-XX-1 are instances of failed experiments made from SCP-XX. These often come in the form of mutilated corpses, torn apart by rapidly-growing tumors and pustules. It is possible to extract 1-70% of the fluid used on the body, though personnel are to be directed to wear Hazmat suits and are to be warned that direct contact with any bodily fluids may induce similar symptoms on those that are unprotected.

Live instances of failed experiments using SCP-XX are rare, but we should hope that these instances occur more often. With the remaining liquids, either from the equipment or the subject themselves, it is possible to reconstruct their bodies back to the way they were2. Live subjects who have successfully returned to their normal genetic state can be given amnestics in order to relieve them of the traumatic experience.

SCP-XX-2 are instances of subjects whose genetic makeup was used to improve combat and physical capabilities, or in simpler terms, "Super soldiers." Instances of SCP-XX-2 differ physically depending on who was using the equipment and what parts they were attempting to "upgrade," though most are taller than 2 meters, show herculean strength and endurance, and have sharpened senses. The usual way Foundation personnel incapacitate these soldiers is to electrocute them3. If this does not work, personnel are advised to keep their distance and wait for backup to arrive with the proper armaments.

Captured SCP-XX-2 are to be held within the high-security ward of the Facility 0016.

SCP-XX-3 are instances of genetic tampering used on animals and plants. These subjects are often a result of attempts to create larger farm animals and crops, though one operation has found a small group of scientists attempting to create live dinosaurs from tampering with the DNA of birds and amphibians. SCP-XX-3 subjects are usually non-hostile.

SCP-XX-4 are instances of human subjects who have been transformed into inhuman creatures. These subjects are often aggressive, and if still sapient, completely insane. Instances are to be neutralized and their bodies secured for study. If possible, any SCP-XX fluid is to be extracted from the subject's body. Subjects that are non-hostile and show no signs of sapience are to be neutralized and secured as well. Those that do show some form of sapience should be approached with caution, as the genetic modification process has most certainly driven them insane. If possible, sapient subjects are to be brought in for examination4

SCP-XX-5, called "Peter" before his transformation, is a 5'9 blue-furred feline-human hybrid, his current age 29. He states that he was willingly genetically altered at age 16 to become his "fursona." During his lifetime in this nonhuman form, he was shuttled across the globe by Marshall, Carter and Dark Ltd. SCP-XX-5 states that his experiences were mostly sexual in nature. After 2 years in captivity, he begun to regret his decision to be transformed and attempted to find those who performed on him with no success
